Nba Live 08 PC on Widescreen LCD 16:10

Postby @nk71 on Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:49 am

Question guys need your opinion....

Im buying a brandnew Monitor for my PC in preparation for this Live 08,
should I buy a 19" widescreen LCD or Standard Screen

Has any1 tried playing NBA LIVE 07 on a widescreen 16:9-10....
bcoz Im afraid it has a tendency to stretch the screen that makes the players faces and bodies unlifelike....
kindly post ur comments and if ever you guys have pictures of NBA Live on Widescreen platform....
thanks

Well you can always change the resolution in the options so it is like wide screen the would make the game even better. At least I know alot of FPS have that option.

To answer your question, NBA Live 07 for PC does NOT support widescreen. Its maximum resolution is 1280 x 1024, which is 5:4. Since the engine for Live 08 last gen (PC) will not change, it is very unlikely that NBA Live 08 for the PC will support widescreen of any aspect ratio. You'll most likely have to play on a stretched image.

It's either stretched or preserved (with black bars on the sides). It is a fact, however, that NBA Live 07 does not support widescreen displays, as doesn't any previous NBA Lives using this engine.

There are not a lot of resolutions choices but 08 on PC does support widescreen.
No more stretched images on 16:9 displays.

Widescreen is excellent for work and web surfing, since you have more pixels to work with. Although I doubt you're getting an LCD specifically for NBA Live, you can still find your way around that by playing with a non-stretched (or "preserved", as k083 mentioned) by simply changing an option with your display driver control panel. I have a widescreen and I find it much more enjoyable watching movies, playing games (NBA Live 06, and I play it preserved so it doesn't stretch). Trust me, on the long road, a widescreen is better (unless you're a standard-size advocate).

I agree with getting the widescreen. It's great for your desktop, applications, movies, and games(that support it).

I'd also like to point out that the PC version of Madden has had a widescreen option for several years. I don't think they will add one to NBA Live.

I have played nba live 07 on wide screen at a internet cafe on highest settings and its pretty much the same as standard 19inch. I suggest you get wide screen though.

I've found a way to have widescreen in Live 07, I edited (succesfully) the executable with an HEX Editor.

I hope to do it for 08 as I did with 07.

Get a Widescreen (16:10), I think you will surely need it for Live 09, when probably EA will port the Pc version from next-gen console, instead porting from ps2.

EA Canada sucks

Postby JWL3 on Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:59 am

Why is it that I feel like they're screwing PC users? Is it because they feel we have no alternative product like 2K8 or something? Or is it because their profit margins are lower on the PC than on the platforms?

Either way, these programmers are just terrible - I mean, how hard is implementing some of the requests we're asking? OK, the requests from the 10 year olds asking for smell-o-vision are outrageous but look at my small list of demands.

In game save feature. (they had this 10 years ago - all it takes is to save the stats for the game so that I can reload and continue at that spot. Can even be a .txt file.)

Widescreen - Every single major game release has widescreen already.

Next gen graphics - I'm tired of playing crap graphics with my 8800GTS which would obliterate the PS3.

Probably both but if 2K was on PC I would bet we would of had the good version of live last year.
