They do the trailers to spotlight certain features. The gameplay clips will probably start coming soon.

The way we use videogames is what makes them unreal. You can't make it look real for example when Arenas makes that pass to Jamison, because he's already driving and preparing the pass, and with a button that's not possible unless you're making a full 3 seconds animation with maybe no option to rectify on the fly. I'm pretty drunk and while writing this, sorry if you can't understand me at all. 8-)

I don't see how arenas to jamison pass couldn't happen in game. All you would have to do as a player is drive to basket then while you are doing that just kick the ball out to jamison. The animation would kick in because the AI is taking into account the situation the player is in and tries to make the best pass.

Heres an example of that type of animation in NBA 2K7:

Just fast forward to 3:54 to see the animation. To do this in 2K7 all you have to do is while the player moving towards the basket press Y to get him to do the running animation then press X and turbo to do the dunk.

No no, I meant, he looks like he's gonna drive and pass the ball, by the way he's driving an all that. If we continue using videogames with buttons these are the options:

a) Real animations and real looking basketball but you don't have the ability to adjust on the fly.
b) You have more control over what you're doing (like now happens) and the graphics can get as good as you want, but it will never look just like REAL basketball.

This trailer just leads me to believe that EA is trying to use a combination of the two options you stated for control with buttons. 2K7 uses many animations like that one used in the trailer. The only problem with animations like gil's pass to jamison is that the computer may sometimes use that animation in the wrong situation which is a reoccuring problem with 2K7.

I'm sorry if I hurt some feelings, but that trailer was entirely a 5 on 5 mo-cap session. All of you should be happy to see how both NBA 2K and Live aproach to real life, because you will never be confused between real life and virtual graphics playing a game on consoles that work the way we're used to. If you want REAL basketball, you can play with your friends on a park or watch some sports TV channels.

the movements look real smooth in 2k. very nice vid. not for the sim. lovers, but looked good movewise.

this vid is crap compared to that

It looks good but i dont get how Arenas can drive to the basket, pass to Jamison, then to Butler, and back to Arenas, all in 7 secs!?
