If this doesn't get you worked up over this movie, I don't know what will!

Yeah, gotta agree here, I dunno about that Joker... :?

PS: not to be a prick, but shouldn't this go in the entertainment section?

Ledger's Joker will be better than Jack's. Jack's was cynical, Nolan's will be a maniac.

People, this is the man that brought you Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins...have a little faith. I'm the biggest batman fan ever after the reboot.

You can see Bale didn't manage to get as big as he was in Begins.

But precisely, wouldn't you consider the Joker, as originally intended, more cynical than maniac? I mean, obviously he needs to be pretty damn crazy, but it doesn't feel like he should be burdened by complete insanity... I don't know, I guess we'll see how Ledger works it out.
Either way, Chris Nolan is a genius indeed.

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent! Excitement! (Based entirely on Thank You for Smoking.)

I wonder if he'll keep the role when he becomes Two-Face...unlike Billy Dee who signed on to the Burton Batman in order to play Two-Face. Then he gets swapped out for Tommy Lee Jones. I believe they had to pay him extra to swap actors...

Eckhart was confirmed awhile back though. Supposedly he'll be scarred by Joker in the third installment, in this one he'll be working alongside The Bat & Gordon.

Scarecrow's back too.

Eckhart was excellent in Thank You For Smoking, so seeing him as Two-Face would be a good match.

I was skeptical with Ledger as the Joker, but from the screenshots, he appears to fit Nolan's vision of the Joker just well. Should be interesting to see the next installment of the Dark Knight, since I was one of the few people that didn't really enjoy Batman Begins too much

Nolan based his Joker on the early Batman stories and "The Killing Joke". He's pretty maniacal in those books.

He didn't kill Batman.
He crippled Batman by splitting his spine in half by doing a backbreaker (wrestling move).

Bain is a distant thought as of now. I love how Nolan is intent on building the story with as much story as possible instead of trying to just comical-ize it a la what happened with Mr. Freeze. :shake:

Bane was awesome in the comic books. I have that comic where he broke Batman's back, and I think that was one of the best comic reads I've ever went through. It's now sealed in a plastic comic bag that's going to be sold on eBay one day. When I'm 60.

Heh, I'm glad you corrected that, cyanide.

Personally, I think No Man's Land is better than Knightfall. I didn't care much for Jean-Paul Valley, although Knightfall was a bit more "shocking" at the time. Especially since it was coming at the same time as Superman was being killed.

I think Batman Begins would've been better as a more direct adaptation of Year One, but I don't think people going to the theatres to see "Batman" would've appreciated a story with almost no "real" Batman stuff. Working in an homage to the end of The Killing Joke to this upcoming film would be a nice touch. Also, Bane from Venom, and not Knightfall, would be a good introduction.

That's the thing about Batman, sticking to the comics can often make the movies darker. Batman at it's best is dark. Of course, so is Superman, and pretty much everything else.

Speaking of Superman, I saw this a year and a half or so ago: http://www.agonybooth.com/forum/topic2730.htm
The details of the story are simply amazing.
2. Superman’s costume is a living entity housed in a can, and it climbs onto him when he needs it. He first discovers it in a closet when he’s 14 (Jor-El visited Earth and picked the Kents out to be Kal-El’s new parents, leaving them his picture, some S-shield metal pieces signifying the virtues Kal-El must represent, and the costume), and the costume rips his clothes off and stuffs him into itself. So teen Clark is flying around in a suit that’s way too big for him.
3. Lex Luthor is an evil CIA agent obsessed with UFO phenomena. When Superman reveals himself to the world, Luthor demands that the government allow him to hunt Superman down and kill him. The government refuses, so Luthor allies himself with the evil Kryptonians out to kill Kal-El…because Luthor himself is an evil Kryptonian, working undercover as a human to set up an invasion of Earth!

Comparing Batman Begins to the last two Batman films (Forever and Batman &Robin), Nolan did a great job. Those two Batman films seemed gay. I hope in The Dark Knight, Nolan will continue the good work.

The director of the last Batman film (before Begins) is gay. He's already out of the closet. That's why it looked gay.

The Superman history had been revised/retconned/changed/modified/*insert synonym here* all those years. Damn writers, can't keep up with consistency.

I liked the Tim Burton movies better, but I'm really excited about The Dark Knight. I really like Nolan's interpretation of the Joker.

1. I'm a Tim Burton fanatic, positively and absolutely
2. Batman Begins was alright
3. Yet I'm still freaking stoked about this movie

Why? because i do believe ledger/nolan/bale can pull this off. Anyone worried about Heath Ledger pulling this off? Check out Lords of Dogtown where he plays Skip Engbloom. Hell, he's the only good thing in the movie. If he can capture that character that well and become it, I dont think the Joker is going to be that bad out of him. Yes nicholson was amazing, but why do we have to compare them? seperate series about the same guy. Let the new guys pull their art, it doesnt disparage the old masterpieces at all (of course i'm talking about the Burton ones, not the Schumacher ones, Schumacher needs to be sliced in half for those bastardized Batman movies). Nolan is a fantastic director (see Memento and Prestige) and will do a job. The complaints for me in the first movie had nothing to do with him. It was more the storyline, seemed as if scarecrow (advertised as the main baddy) was defeated rather easily

So I cant wait to see if this is one of the few super hero sequels in recent years to not let me down...we shall see

He was defeated in the first movie; but in the comic book world since defeated usually doesnt mean completely killing a character, he just went to...Arkham isnt it in DC? When they busted open Arkham, he escaped. That doesnt mean he wasnt defeated, he just wasnt defeated very long and it had nothing to do with Scarecrow that he escaped
