the media is throwing it all on drugs. my guess was something to do with infedelity. some have agreed(mostly men) and some have disagreed(every women). either way just my guess. i was thinkign that since he killed the kid too, the wife might have told him the kids not really his and he thought it was? i dont know really, i dont know anything about him, i just cant imagine anything being bad enough to where you kill you own child.

Last I heard, they theorized that he strangled his wife on the first day, then strangled his son the second day, and then hung himself with a cord from some weightlifting equipment. He placed bibles next to his wife and son. They believe it may have been "roid rage."

WWE did a 3 hour tribute to Chris Benoit, and I heard that Vince McMahon was going to apologize for it. Probably because the cirumstances regarding the death weren't known to the public at that point, and you don't want to give tribute to a man who kills his family.

one of my favorite pro wrestlers of all time and Im definitely depressed that he ended his life this way. What the hell couldve been that bad? *sighs* fucked up world. If he killed his kid and wife I dont wanna say RIP, but he gave me hours of entertainment over the course of my life so *shrugs*....

Bobby Cutts, Jr. and Chris Benoit, the alleged child murderers whose cases are all over the news, have an unlikely lady link -- former NFL cheerleader/model Nikki Giavasis.

Giavasis has been everywhere -- "Today," "Good Morning America," CNN, MSNBC -- portraying Cutts, her former boyfriend and baby daddy, as "aggressive" and "threatening" -- and testifying to his potential to be a murderer. Cutts is the father of Nikki's nine-year-old daughter, and he has two other kids. In 1998, Giavasis was at home with former NBA star Shawn Kemp, when Cutts allegedly tried to break in.

Here's the crazy link: Giavasis was also featured in Wrestlemania XX, the WWE showcase that was won by none other than Benoit. Nikki was part of the WWE "Hot Team."

Giavasis' other credits include a starring role in the instructional video, "Becoming a Pro Cheer Leader" [sic] and appearances on reality series "The Casino" and ProActiv spots. She also claims in her bio that she has a genius-level IQ.

from the ESPN article. perhaps he was given steroids/testosterone/growth hormone and Benoit had a dispute with his wife about them?

the article also reminded me of the deaths of Mr. Perfect, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, and Eddie Guerrero. so sad.

WOW, Benoit was an amazing werestler, his technique was one of the best for sure in the WWE, just shocking...not going to say RIP to a family killer, but RIP to his family.

I have mixed feelings.
I'm one of the biggest Benoit fans, but to do that to a child.

I'm turned-off from watching wrestling and it will be a long time before I start watching again. The event that happened is just shocking.

This was one of the first things I saw when I arrived in New York last Monday and turned on the TV in the hotel room. At first I thought it was a hoax then when I realised it was legit I figured Benoit and his family had met with an unfortunate end as the result of a robbery gone wrong or something of that nature. Like everyone else, I was quite shocked when further details came out. A very sad story to say the least, with questions that will probably never be answered.

What I haven't cared for in the past week is the way the media is looking for someone to blame. I've seen columnists accuse Vince McMahon of running a "death factory" and pinning the blame for Benoit's murder-suicide on the WWE and its chairman. I guess in situations like this where the person who committed the crime is dead the finger of blame is going to be pointed at those who remain, but I don't think that's fair. Even if Benoit's doctor is going to be charged, the fact remains that Benoit committed the vile act.

Such a talented performer whose past work will now be sullied by his final actions. More importantly, three lives lost including a seven year old child. And all the media can do is try to badmouth Vince McMahon for actions he did not commit.

One WFAN talkie said he doesn't know how Vince McMahon sleeps at night.

That's precisely the reason I choose to limit my exposure to mainstream news sources. They just need something to ramble about for an entire segment of a show so they make up outlandish things like what you described. It's just not worth it to get news from those kinds of outlets, when all they care about is attracting viewers with sensationalist stories. At this point there's very little difference between so-called "reputable" news companies and trashy tabloids.

That's really more of the profession than the individual though; not every wrestler who dies under the age of 50 does so under the WWE's watch. A lot of people have been trying to pin the blame for Benoit's murder-suicide on McMahon and I think that's a classic example of trying to point fingers owing to the fact the person who committed the atrocity is no longer with us. At the end of the way, it was Chris Benoit who murdered his wife and child before taking his own life, not Vince McMahon.

I'm not a wrestling fan or expert by any means. Closest I ever came to becoming a wrestling fan was when I played some WWE games on N64. But from what I've read, there is a disturbing trend and it's at least worthy of an investigation. I heard on ESPN that some US Senator is trying to get Congress to investigate, and I definitely see that happening.

No question, the number of early deaths is disturbing and if there's measures that can be taken to prevent them so much the better. But blaming Vince McMahon and accusing him of running a "death factory" is making him into a scapegoat for a problem that isn't exclusive to the WWE.
