Did you guys see the second trailer? Links:

I'm pretty excited. The atmosphere is just great and the story sounds interesting too. What do you think?

Sort of side track from the new GTA IV talk, but on topic of random GTA Talk, I personally had a hard time manuevering around the third island and small areas of the first island of the first island. The 80s feel of Vice City was really good, but like someone said, going around in Liberty City was the most dangerous because of the numerous gangs that were after you (including the Cartel and their AKs  ).

The most dangerous area is St. Mark's in Portland. Two blasts from that Mafia shotgun, and your ass is grass.

That's why you do all your stuff in Portland before Salvatore orders you dead :P

Do all your stuff before Asuka's "Sayonara Salvatore" mission.

The element of danger(to your character) is a GTA staple. It was there in GTAIII, San Andreas(gang areas of Los Santos), VCS, LCS, but not in Vice City.

Since GTAIV's Liberty City closely resembles NYC, you know there'll be rough areas similar to the South Bronx, Bed-Stuy, Red Hook, etc.

that was the biggest problem with gta3, and to a lesser extent vice city. everyone was always pissed at you. what annoys me with all the gta games is, the second you are seen people start shooting at you. how the hell does everyone reconize you? it should be more random. something like, "oh shit i see some rivals gang members over there but i dont think they reconize me yet so its ok" then suddenly another member joins them who notices you, someone you had a shootout with earlier and he tells the rest of his crew and them come hunting ya down.

maybe thats too much info for a game to remember, oh well would be cool.

I agree, how do they know its you if you are going 50MPH down the street. It would be nice to have a little more stealth moves in the game. Plus the cops should arrest bad guys too. I remember playing Vice City Stories and i was shooting it out with some dudes by a house. Some cop pulls up by a red light. The enemy is shooting at me non stop, the cop doesnt do crap. but the moment i shoot back he charges for me and arrests me. Whatever happened to self defence?

that always bothered me too. you can have 5 guys running after you shooting but if you fight back then suddenly you got the cops after you also.

And the only way you can avoid it is really in SA, if you get them to shoot the police car. While they get distracted you run away :D

But that was hellas annoying in GTA III.

Man yeah that's stupid as, it's like 'You vs the World'. The cops should turn up and go after everyone.

I don't mind them shooting at me on sight, because I return the favor with my trusty AK. What's messed up are the cops only targeting your character. It's was somewhat improved in SA - hopefully it'll be fixed in GTA IV.

What's more annoying were the SA gang war missions when you needed a crew. Your homies were completely useless - many times, they'd walk right in your line of fire or they wouldn't shoot at all. The A.I. was really f---ed up.

yeah it was pointless even getting them. well they helped while you were in the car but besides the drive bys they were complete junk. still i loved the setting of gtasa. i am sure gta4 will be by far the better game, i just dont know if i will enjoy the setting as much. i liked gtasa, then vice city setting wise and a real distant 3rd was the setting for gta3.

note: i know i am contridicting my previous statement above by picking gtasa then vice city but i just recently played vice city again and i was reminded about all the little things that had bugged me.

St. Marks was definitely the worst since a couple of missions took you back there afterwards (Espress-2-Go being one of them), though it wasn't so bad if you made sure to complete all side missions first. I agree on the self defense/wanted level as well. On a similar note, I've often felt that driving an emergency vehicle, particularly a cop car should allow you to flaunt the law a bit especially if you could change into a police uniform but I suppose that would make things a bit too easy, though one would expect enough carnage would result in a wanted level once they realised who you were.

A little bit off topic, but I put down Vice City and started playing Bully, made by Rockstar Vancouver... Its very GTA-ish.. but at a high school level  Its rocking pretty hard right now.

Oh hell yeah. You're just about ready to ram the last Coffee House stand, and your ride gets blown up by a Mafia shotgun - MFer!

After St. Marks, the most dangerous area is Los Santos. Fools come out of nowhere to flat-blast you.

But those guys don't have shotguns, mainly pistols and the occasional Micro-SMG.

Or, even more frustrating, you do ram the stand and complete the mission only to get wasted as you try to make your escape...not cool if you've picked up some weapons/items that aren't in your hideout cache or happen to be aiming to complete the game with near-perfect stats without getting wasted or busted.

yeah the game looks amazing so far, cant wait for it. infact i cant wait for it so much i am starting to save now just so i can afford a system and the game on launch day. hell if i dont preorder i bet i dont get one. for gtasa only preorders got to pick the game on on thier first shipment. thing was there was twice the number of preorders than copies, so there was still a massive line for the game. being the loser that i am i was 4th in line.
