Great Cant wait for an Update...trade with teams like the Raptors, Hawks, Bobcats, get rid of those players that have big contracts, like Francis, Marbury, Richardson...get someone younger...Lookin forward to this and the changes you're gonna make! (Y)

well If you are really looking to trade, here is some trade suggestions:

Stephon Marbury, Channing Frye to the Hawks for Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams

Steve Francis, Eddy Curry to the Raptors for Chris Bosh, TJ Ford

Q-Rich, Marbury to the Bobcats for G-Wall, something young like Felton or Morrison

No, even with the extra cap space Toronto has, I don't think the salaries match. It looks like 30 Million vs. 10 million or something. Also, its unrealistic and one-sided. Even the CPU would decline.

I'd like to see NYK's dominate the paint again ala Patrick Ewing days; I'd try work something out to secure Dwight Howard, but you'd probably have to pick up Grant Hill and his ridiculous salary to offset things; btw, anyone know if Hill announced retiring in real life or is gonna give it 'another try' as usual? just curious. Nab Howard and the Knicks are back in business for years to come

Getting Hill would be a great move, since his 26M expires at the end of the season. Francis + Curry + M. Rose for Howard + Hill?

I say get rid of Marbury to old and then play Francis at starting PG, at SG keep Crawford there, At SF deal Quentin Richardson with Marbury to Bobcats for Wallace and maybe even Oakfor/Felton/Morrison in there, at PF keep young Frye he has good potential and then with david lee backing him up, then at C deal eddie Curry for a youngster like Marvin Williams from the Hawks (Y)

good luck can't wait for the first update, should be good

you got it man! i don't know the exact numbers but i know it's doable; then you let that mo fo walk next season and have SICK free agency cash; try to build them into the bruisers they used to be when Ewing, Oakley, Starks, Anthony Mason were there

I'd nab Artest from Sac too just to start them on their bruisin' way!

Summer '06
Owner James Dolan fires Coach Larry Brown and replaces him with Isiah Thomas. Dolan also relieves Thomas of his duties as President of Basketball Operations and replaces him with unknown "Jason G." Jason will have the tile of General Manager, but will have final say in all team transactions.

Isiah is definitely going to still be our Coach right now, but we think its time for him to leave the front office," said Dolan. "We think Jason will be a great fit and I trust him completely. He and I have already talked and we have laid out some new plans to improve the team. He and I see eye to eye on most things already and I'm looking forward to next season. We hope New Yorkwill be excited for the upcoming season and we're expecting to make the playoffs."

Image
On the day of the season opener for the Knicks, new GM Jason G. made a blockbuster deal.

Image

New York Recives:
- SG Tracy McGrady 93 overall, $16.40 million, 4 years left
- PF M. Lampei 62 Overall, $1.00 million, 1 year left

Houston Recieves:
- PG Stephon Marbury 82 overall, $17.28 million, 3 years left
- PG N. Robinson 69 overall, $1.19 million, 3 years left
- SF R. Balkman 65 overall, $1.42 million 4 years left

GM Jason: "The Knicks today would like to announce the arrival of Tracy McGrady, 6-time NBA allstar. He holds a career scoring average of 22.2 point per game and should be able to fill our shooting guard spot nicely. Steve Francis will revert to being a point guard and take the number "3" jersey and Tracy will get number "1". Although we are sad to see Stephon go, we think that Tracy should be able to help us more."

Tracy McGrady spoke to the media just hours before the opener vs. Memphis.

Reporter : What was your reaction to the trade?
TM : Honestly, I was shocked. The Rockets organization never told me that they had any plans to move me so when I heard the news I was blown away. Right now I'm more stunned than anything. I will do all I can to help the Knicks reach their goals, and I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my career here.
Reporter #2 : Tracy! You and Francis were once traded for each other, weird?
TM : Haha yeah that's actually kinda funny. Its a little comical that Knicks would acquired both of us (him and Francis) from the Magic and Rockets, but hey me and Steve are tight. I've talked to him from allstar games and such and it should be fun to play together.
Reporter #3 : Do the Knicks have what it takes to make the playoffs and if so can you reach the 2nd round?
TM : I think so. I loved Houston, but the West is very very tough. Most of the elite teams are there, Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio and (I like to include) Houston. I think with this team we should be able to easily make playoffs, and hopefully the 2nd round. The East is a lot more unpredictable.
Reporter #4 : Tracy, injuries have always been a problem for you what do you think you can do to stay healthy this season?
TM : Well, this trade should actually really benefit me. The Teams in the East are located much closer together than the teams in the West are. All the teams in our divison [NJ, 76ers, Raptors, Celtics] are all within 30 minute plane rides from each other. Since I will be traveling less, I should be more well rested and any minor injures should heal quicker and have less of a chance to develop into something series. I also worked out all summer and I feel better than I have in years.

Newly acquired swingman Tracy McGrady failed to play like the Allstar he is in his first week with the Knicks. Scoring only 5, 9 and 12 points in his first 3 games, so far Knicks fans must be dissapointed. The Knicks have not bonded together well yet and the team has very poor chemistry. GM Jason G. has told Coach Thomas to hold more team events to help the team bond. Worse yet, starting small forward Quentin Richardson sprained his finger and will be out for 3 weeks, making him impossible to move.
Image

(Real life note: I did not intervene in any games yet, I am working on making more deals and have not focused on results yet. Also the pictures are pretty poor because I did not have my normal camera, I should have better pictures in the future.)

Image
Realizing that the team still was not playing well, GM Jason G. made another blockbuster move the day after the Pacers game on 11/4/06:

Image

New York Recieves
- PF Chris Bosh 88 overall $4.24 million, 1 year left

Toronto Recieves
- C Eddy Curry 74 overall, $10.00 million 5 years left
- C Jerome James 57 overall $5.40 million, 4 years left

"To free up some more cap room and to improve our team the Knicks organization proudly introduces PF Chris Bosh into our Family," GM Jason said. "We are very excited to have Chris play for us and Channing will now slide over to Center. We are sad to see Eddy leave us, since we just acquired him last year and he played very well for us, but we think he and Jerome will thrive in Toronto."

Team analysis
The Trades would be met with raving reviews:
"Wow, James Dolan finally made a good decision; hiring GM Jason G. Jason has really made some nice moves, and although the Knicks have started 0-3, I'm looking for them to be one of the top teams in the league. Francis, McGrady, and Bosh?? I didn't realize it was possible for those 3 to team up, but the Knicks have somehow managed to do it."
- Marc Stein, ESPN.com

"How in the world did they manage to trade Jerome James? James is possibly one of the worst mid-level exception decision ever. Somehow GM Jason G. has made the impossible a reality."
- Mike Wilbom, Pardon The Interuption

"The Knicks have somehow improved their team and reduced payroll, an impressive feat. The Knicks, if they let Maurice Taylor, and Jalen Rose and a few other players go should only be about $10 million over the cap before they resign Chris Bosh, which they should and will do. Somehow they managed to convince Toronto to use up all of their caproom."
- Bill Walton, ESPN analyst

Well, I'll give my take on the trade.

The Good

-You have a stacked, lineup with a mix of young and old players.
-You saved a huge amount of cap space
-You raped two teams of their franchise players for team cancers with terrible contracts

The Bad

-In Steve Francis, you have a mediocre shoot-first PG. Trust me, I hate Starbury more than any player in the league, but you should have given up Stevie.
-You have no true Center. You could either start one of the league's worst centers at the 5, or Channing Frye; but that would mean David Lee, Mo Taylor and Malik would have to play the 4, and that would be almost as bad as James at C.
-It is very, very unrealistic. Check out hova's Live 06 Knicks dynasty. that is how its done.

- if you check the disclaimer i siad it wasnt going to be realistic
- where is hova's live 06 knicks dynasty, i can't find it
- Its NBA live not real life, it doesn't matter if Steve Francis is a shoot-first PG.. I can make him do what I want. Plus hes sorta like a Baron Davis (as you can guess my favorite player) a good dunking point guard... except thats where the similaries end.. I might try and trade for BD (y)
- Plus the Rockets didn't have much interest for Francis- where as they had a 75% interest level for Starbury. I think its because Francis is listed as a SG in the game and obviously the Rockets didnt need a SG. (but in real life, why would the reqacuire Francis? lol)
- like any of the suggestions ppl made were realistic.. its about having fun...
- I don't get what you mean for the 5 and 4..... Frye is playing 5, Bosh is playing 4.... I don't need a true center... They are both good rebounders, so apart from that what else do they need? They will play the majority of minutes.... My team is not very deep, I'm looking to trade for that too maybe...
- but thnx for the first comment on the trade! anyone else?
