Live 2003 Graphics Vs Live 2004 Graphics

Postby malice_05 on Sat Sep 20, 2003 1:25 pm

Honestly what do you guys think about the new remodeled Live 2004. To me I think the Live 2004 graphics are ugly and look like something for GC.
Live 2001 and 2003 had the best graphics. These new graphics look like garbage to me. THIS IS MY OPINION REMEMBER. So yall dont agree with me state urs.

I think it's too early to tell because a lot depends on the quality of the picture we are getting. I'll reserve judgement when I get the game because it always will look a little different when it's in front of you instead of looking at some pictures on the web.

Regardless, I don't think it's not that much different either way.

What do you mean "they look like Gamecube graphics"? Gamecube has pretty good graphics.

Anyways, in some videos/pics the graphics look weird but in others they look okay so I'll just wait till I get it to judge.

The player models do seem a little off in some screens and the faces are probably going to be polished up as part of the finishing touches, but graphics really don't concern me too much. I'd rather a generic face here and there than gameplay that didn't live up to expectations.

I think all malice_05 is really asking is 2003graphics or 2004graphics? in which case, not considering gameplay or the fact that 2004 hasn't been released, I'd say 2003graphics definitely.
Remember, when we saw previews for 2003, they were much better than what we're seeing right now for 2004.

Just want to note that, generic or not-so-ppolished faces here and there can be patched later. But the overall player model cannot be patched (just like the game play).

True and true. Don't get me wrong, I want a game that looks good too. But I still consider gameplay to be a greater concern. If the game doesn't look quite right (some player models/cyberfaces a little off), it's still playable. It's harder to overlook undesirable gameplay.

Again, I'd rather have both. But if it comes down to great graphics and good gameplay or great gameplay and good graphics, I'm taking gameplay.

You be the judge of that...

These are screenshots from the Live 2003 PC section, and the Live 2004 PC section. So they are comparable. I think that 2004 looks much better.

Colin, good post. If I were to judge from those screens--then yes 2003 looks more polished but it's not that much different. Especially considering what we've heard about 2004's gameplay imporvements. I'll take 2004 gameplay and just patch the hell out of it. :applaud:

Yea the net ...tiz pantz

The graphics in live 2004 are definitely richer looking. However, they could have been better with things like more realistic player bodies and better jersey shadings. That last one is really a problem for console people though.

Wow that net is ugly...I think overall 2044's is better but 2003 has better player models, because 2004 looks like everyone have a Napoleon complex

Player models aside, the graphics of NBA Live 2004 aren't too bad compared to NBA Live 2003. I'm still fairly certain the cyberfaces and textures will be polished up before the release. As for the net, looks very similar in both games IMHO. :?

I say 2003 but what they shoulda done was fix the cyberfaces and tone down the body abit. 2003's bodies look more accurate but 2004's does look richer but a little stubby.

Oh well. We dont get to choose for 2004.

I'm with you there. They look short. As if they used a bunch of point guards for their 10-man freestyle.

Either way I don't think it's a big concern. You'll get over it once you start playing the game.

Don't you worry about tats mate. I've got that department under control.

I really can't wait to get me hands on this game. So much so that I've already started drawing player tats in PSP format, ready to be copied and pasted to player skin tones.

So you can expect to have tats for just about every player within the first 3 weeks NBA Live 2k4 comes out.

So it seems we're split when it comes to which version has better graphics.
The voting though has live 04 leading by 3.

I think what I will do is just patch my live 03 up man. The only reason I would get live 2004 is for the dynasty mode.

i 'm happy because, richard jefferson and kenyon martin have no hair in live 2004!!

i hope that J-Rich have his real face because in Live 03, he have just a black head with little hair face and some black hair that's all, he looks like some players of my create players list!!!
