the all 'port of' thing is a bad excuse, they can make it as Sega did with Virtua Tennis 3.
Again, it's certainly possible but just because one developers chooses to port a Next Gen game to the PC it doesn't mean another developer will do the same, particularly when they're still developing a Current Gen game that they can port across. Furthermore, just because something may be possible with one game does not mean it's feasible with another.
For example, THQ's WWE games feature characters that look amazing lifelike, but the arenas are generic and the loading times are much longer compared to NBA Live. Each game presents a different situation that is affected differently by the hardware limitations. It's not a bad excuse, it's just the way it is.
What it comes down to is that EA Sports' competition and biggest revenue exists on the consoles, so they're not going to place their focus on a corner of the market that isn't as profitable; it wouldn't be good business sense and at some point that has to come into the equation. Unfortunately for those of us who prefer to play the game on the PC, we are the smaller, less profitable corner of the market.
Hopefully the PC version will eventually be ported from the Next Gen version (most likely when Current Gen is phased out and Next Gen is the only generation games are being developed for) and then we can enjoy the same benefits with the PC version. However, the unfortunate reality is that although we PC users are amongst the most loyal NBA Live fans, in the grand scheme of things were are not the most numerous and as such, it's a corner of the market that isn't a priority. It sucks but that's the situation.
