A College Hoops 2k7 Story: The Legacy of Coach Watson

THE LEGACY OF COACH WATSON

Hey guys, here goes my College Hoops 2k7 legacy on my PS3. It will be updated sporadically, depending on time and real life commitments.

If anyone doesn't already know, College Hoops 2k7 is the college basketball version of NBA 2k7, although it's dynasty mode is a lot more in-depth than that of the NBA's version.

I will be playing a Legacy Mode and have chosen the Career path whereby I start out at as the coach of a very mediocre team in a small conference, and from there, I will look at not only improving every school's program that I coach at and create school pride in their basketball program, but I will also be looking at improving my own coaching career and credentials by moving to bigger and better schools along the way.

LEGACY SETTING:

Game Mode: Career Legacy
Difficulty Level: All-Conference (will vary throughout legacy as I hopefully improve in playing the game)
Half Length: 14 minutes (might vary, depending on & trial & error, just looking for realistic scores)
Simulation Half Length: 20 minutes
Sliders: Out of Box (but will vary as I learn the ins & outs of the game)
Rules: NCAA

Most other settings are the default options and likely won't need to be varied.

I hope you enjoy this. I will update this thread in the coming days with the Coach Watson's first Division 1 coaching gig, as well as the roster that I will be trying to turn into a winner. As always, comments and suggestions are more than welcome.

P.S. If anyone knows of any freeware photoshopping software that I can download to crop any images that I might like to post, please share.

cheers, I got no problem with 360 except that the games weren't region free so you couldn't play some American sporting titles....I'll be selling my 360 in the next couple of weeks, probably via eBay....

I don't know if it will be that long or that good....the Bobcats one was long because I got lots of replies & input from other members of the community....plus I was single back then, I had a little bit more time up my sleeves  this one will be what it is

THE NORTHERN COLORADO BEARS GET DESPERATE, SIGN YOUNG, UNTESTED COACH

After a dismal 5-24 season last year, the Northern Colorado university’s athletic director realised he had to go another way, and he definitely has, as he signed an inexperienced 26 year old in Andrew Watson of Brisbane, Australia. Not a whole lot is known of Watson except that he originally hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and has played at a variety of different levels to varying degrees. As far as his coaching resume goes, not much is known. When this decision was announced, I’m sure it wasn’t what the folks of Greeley, Colorado wanted to hear, with a coach only 5 years their senior. With him, Watson brings an untested, but enthusiastic coaching staff, his assistant’s Greg Lawrence and Sean Austin.

In an interview with the school’s local paper, this is what Watson had to say:

Interviewer: So what brings you to little old Greeley, Colorado?
Watson: Some people might mock coming to such a small school with no history, but I see this as not only a great opportunity to develop my own coaching skills, but to help each player become the best player he can be, and hopefully in time, help to turn this program into a winner.

Interviewer: There are a lot of critics out there saying that your team won’t win a game all year with you coaching them. What do you say to those people?
Watson: I don’t say anything to those people; they can think what they like. The entire coaching staff, including myself, is confident we can improve on last year’s win total. This team has some good young pieces. Sure there are some holes, what team outside of the North Carolinas and Dukes, don’t have problem areas? Heck, even those teams have their holes, albeit very small ones, but still.

Interviewer: What do you know of our school’s history? And the Big Sky Conference in general?
Watson: I know the school hasn’t been to the NCAA Tournament and that’s something I would like to remedy in my time here. As for the Big Sky Conference, I know of Weber State and Harold Arceneaux. I remember them upsetting North Carolina in the 1st Round and almost getting by Florida to just miss out on advancing to the Sweet 16. That shows me that teams from the Big Sky are capable of competing with the big boys on their night.

Interviewer: Yep, that was a biFinally, how many wins can we expect to see the boys get?
Watson: It’s too early to say, I haven’t had a chance to get down in the trenches with these boys, so I’m not putting any expectations on them, win tally wise. Just effort wise.

Interviewer:
Thanks for your time Coach Watson; we hope to catch up with you later in the season.
Watson: No problem Jimmy.

Cheers, to expand on the information, it looks like 2006/07 is the team's first season as a member of the Big Sky Conference, as they were previously an Independent school, aligned to no conference in particular....

to anyone else, if you know of decent, freeware photoshop software so I can crop images etc, please let me know....will update in coming days with Midnight Madness, initial recruiting, pre-season polls and more....

I'm still learning....but you can get transfers but since I'm a small school, I can't see that happening....the main way I'm going to get talent is through recruiting high school players (freshmen to seniors), recruiting international U18 players & by trying to get junior college transfers....the problem I'm finding is that I'm struggling to get decent recruits as my team is so crap & my school has no history, I can't even outrecruit other local schools for local talent, let alone try & beat out the major programs for blue chip recruits....it's not going to be easy, as I'm learning quickly....

that's true, but if you look at their ratings, they're not exactly top-calibre freshmen....and I think the highest potential rating that any of the freshmen is C+....they range from D to C+ so I'm not expecting any stars out of this class....if I can get a starter or two then I'll be happy....

cheers, there will be some pics....but that won't be the major emphasis of the legacy due to time constraints....just here & there I guess....but I'll take a look at those programs you mentioned, they will help....

SPARSE TURNOUT AT MIDNIGHT MADNESS DOESN’T DETER WATSON’S OUTLOOK ON SEASON

What was meant to be the signal of new times for the Northern Colorado Bears, turned out to be a drab affair as fans stayed at home, with the team struggling to fill a quarter of the 4,500 capacity of the Butler-Hancock Hall. The main attraction of Midnight Madness was the team’s intra-squad scrimmage which matched the Bears’ top 7 returning players against the team’s 7 new freshmen.

Surprisingly, the freshmen squad kept it close in the 1st half, with the veteran squad holding onto a slender lead going into the half. The freshmen were led by Detroit product, SG Tommie Clark, who had 17pts and showed the Bears’ coaching staff that he deserves a look for playing time behind returning junior SG Sean Taibi. Although Taibi won’t be giving away any of his minutes without a fight after he exploded for 31pts on an array of baskets, including numerous 3pters, as he utilised what must be one of the silkiest 3pt shots in the Big Sky Conference. Whilst the game was close at the half, Coach Watson obviously said something to fire up the veteran squad, who he was coaching against his assistants who were coaching the freshmen squad, as they came out fired up. They ditched the 2-3 zone they were running and switched to a more dynamic 1-3-1 zone, similar to what the West Virginia Mountaineers run. The defence had immediate effect as the veterans ran away with the game to win by 30pts.

Watson was coy about whether he planned to employ the 1-3-1 zone this season by saying, “you’ll have to just wait and see”. Interestingly enough in this game, Watson went away from the team’s traditional Princeton offence that he has run in prior years, and went with the Motion offence. Either way, it was the defensive pressure that won this one, and hopefully the Bears can transform that into league play. Other top performers in the scrimmage were freshmen PF Chris Kaba, who despite his size, regularly outworked and out rebounded redshirt junior C Kirk Archibeque and senior PF Cory Lowe on his way to 11rebs.

Asked how he expects the ball to shape up for opening night against Ball State, Watson replied, “we’ll be fine, we’ve got a lot of hard work ahead of us and it won’t be easy, but if we work together as a team and leave everything on the court, we’ll have a chance to win. If not, we won’t. That’s all I ask of the boys, effort, effort, effort.” As for the crowd, “they’ll come when they see us playing hard, giving it their all and winning. This community is made of hard working people and anything less from their sporting teams won’t be tolerated. We’ll have to make sure we don’t disappoint them. So no, I’m not worried. These things will work themselves out.”

Good presentation so far. Your team is looking really weak lol.
The preseason top 25 polls look pretty good, I'm surprised Illinois is so high also Syracuse.
As for the All American teams, they look about right except for one major player... Kevin Durant. Hopefully Archibeque can be All Big- Sky like in real life.
Good Luck and you should farewell in your conference.

Btw just to let you know on March Madness 07 for ps2 I use 10 minute halves and get realistic scores  .
