Cheeks Shuffles Lineup

After two losses that have gone down to the wire, Philadelphia 76er head coach Maurice Cheeks finally decided to shake
things up in the starting lineup. "We just don't have enough energy when we play our first quarters," explains Cheeks.
"We really need to give Iggy some help on offence because our first unit isn't producing."

Cheeks has decided to insert his rookies, Rodney Carney and Hilton Armstrong into the starting lineup. Although it
is quite risky putting in players with only 2 games of NBA experience, Cheeks thinks that the Sixers have nothing to
lose. "We definitely need a shakeup. We're not scoring the way we want to be scoring and our fourth quarter execution
has been really lacking these past few games. I think that our younger guys can give us the energy and lift we need."

A perfect example of the 76ers' inability to produce would have been last game against Denver, when Iguodala was forced
to shoulder the team's offensive production. Iguodala managed to score 40 points on 16 of 24 shooting, but the second
leading scorer for Philly was Samuel Dalembert, who only had a mediocre offensive night with 11 points on 5 of 14
shooting.

Carney and Armstrong will replace Kyle Korver and Joe Smith in the starting lineup, both of whom have struggled mightily
these first two games. Smith has only scored 2 points in two games while the usual sharpshooting Korver has gone
through a cold spell, hitting 3 of his first 17 shots of the season. "I don't blame anyone else but myself for being
benched," said Korver, explaining his demotion. "These shots are the shots I normally take and I'm just not hitting
them."

Hodge's Injury Not Serious

Julius Hodge says that he's A-OK and ready to go for Philadelphia's next game against New York. The 6'7 guard injured
his wrist on a play where he collided with Denver Nuggets' centre Marcus Camby. Hodge landed akwardly on his right
wrist at the 5:44 mark in the fourth quarter and had to leave the game to get the injury examined. Hodge scored 5
points against his former team. The New York native's next game is against his home-town team, the New York Knicks.

"Nothing's broken, it was simply a bad fall, that's all," says Hodge. "The trainers say that I will be up and running
for next game. I just need to ice it down and rest it for a day or so. There's no doubt that I'll be ready to play
in New York. I'm definitely pumped to play in my home town."

Sixers Get First W Against Struggling Knicks

Philadelphia managed to save themselves from getting back into bad habits after they survived a late fourth quarter
push by New York. The 76ers managed to get their first win of the season against a struggling New York Knicks team,
going 1-7 their first eight games and are now on a 3 game losing skid.

"It feels good to get that monkey off our backs and not worrying about when we will win our first game," Sixer point
guard Andre Miller said. "We played as a team and we didn't get down on ourselves when we lost our lead for a few
minutes."

The Knicks started off the game on a 15-5 run, but the Sixers didn't panic and chipped the lead down to 48-45 by half
time. Philadelphia managed to take a one point lead after Andre Iguodala hit a three pointer to make it 59-58 in favour
of the Sixers. Hilton Armstrong followed it up with two free-throws and Rodney Carney also hit a lay-up. Finally,
Samuel Dalembert capped off the 9-0 run with an alley-oop slam for a 65-58 Sixer lead.

Eddy Curry and Quentin Richardson did not let the Knicks die off, however. Richadson scored 14 points in the fourth
while Eddy Curry also had 13 to combine for 27 of the Knicks 33 points in the fourth. Q-Rich brought the Knicks within
4 after he nailed a three pointer to make the score 101-97 with 45 seconds, but Andre Miller was intentionally fouled
and made both free-throws. Curry made a jumphook at the other end and Miller was once again fouled, sinking both of
his free-throws. Q then missed a three pointer with 4.6 seconds left but Curry cleaned up the miss with a put-back
dunk to bring the Knicks to within 2. Miller made and missed another pair of free-throws to end the game.

Heh, I got the logo idea off of another dynasty... It was fairly old though (a couple years back) and even I don't remember who it was.

I have to say your recaps are the best of any, writing wise. While is doesn't show off all the candy off expensive graphics cards, tweaked screenshits, fancy headers and video footage, yours is one of only 2 dynasties I actually read the recaps of.

Great writing, but too bad Iggy didn't get a win to go with that monster statline.

It's great to see Carney getting good burn, he was one of my favorite college players. Knowing you though, an athletic swingman with 3 point range and a huge vertical should be expecting minutes under your control

Thanks a bunch man, it means a lot to me. During my previous dynasties sometimes I felt like no one was viewing my dynasty because it was so heavily text-based and I didn't have anything creative graphics-wise to keep anyone's attention. I'm glad that you and a couple of others have at least taken the time to read what I write because I try really hard to compensate for my shitty graphics card. :D

Was that a shot at me?

Anyway, great dynasty. I love the Sixers.

Too bad you lost though..

Nah, he was just trying to boost my ever so fragile self-esteem.

If anything, I'm actually jealous of people with the amazing graphics, screenshots and videos. I think that dynasties like yours are pretty amazing the way you can lay out different things.

yeah...IGGY got 40 but it was at my favorite teams expense so BOO!! haha...jk, but nice game for andre...keep it up i wanna see iggy grab any award he can!!!

I doubt Iggy'll grab anything too spectacular award-wise. Maybe an all-star game appearance. I'm not going to force him to be like Kobe Bryant every night, but it does get a little easy (and tempting) to abuse his high-flyer abilities.

Good win over the Knicks.

Btw, not that you care/know this, but Hilton is wearing #13 and Hodge is wearing #32. Both numbers are retired by the Sixers. (Chamberlain was 13 and Cunningham was 32)

Putting Hilton Armstrong to starting 5 is a good choice. He is definitelly better than Joe Smith to start the game. Joe Smith will give some experience from the bench, while Hilton really needs a lot of playing time.

First two games were a bit unlucky, but this game seems to be good. Loving some players' stats. Keep it up (Y)

Second Straight Against Struggling Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers showed that they don't need to rely on Andre Iguodala for their scoring. First year pro ROdney
Carney scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Sixers in scoring. Iguodala also had 21, but hit only 7 of his 17
attempts.

"I'm proud of the way that Carney played," said Sixer head coach Maurice Cheeks. "A lot of the times Rodney would just
settle for jumpers and make rookie mistakes, but he really played his heart out tonight." Iguodala echoed the coach's
statements. "He's so athletic and he's still learning how to control and use it," Iguodala said. "This kid for sure
has a future in this league."

Carney scored 11 of Philadelphia's first 20 points to give them an immediate 10 point lead. The Celtics would be able
to narrow the lead at certain points of the game, but the Celts were way too demoralized to be taken seriously after
they lost all of their momentum when Boston was trailing by as many as 42-29 during the second quarter.

Sixers Can't Hold On in Charlotte

Playing against another team that was on a two game losing streak, the Sixers let down their guard and let a resilient
Charlotte Bobcats team squeak by with their second win of the season. After winning their second straight game in
Boston, Philadelphia seemed to have the game in the bag after a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter gave them a 63-53 lead,
but the Bobcats simply would not let themselves be beat. "We played lackadaiscally," said a frustrated Maurice Cheeks.
"We know that we have to play for 48 minutes to win a basketball game, but we thought we could ride out our momentum
and put ourselves in cruise control for the rest of the game."

It certainly looked that way, as the Sixers struggled in only the fourth quarter alone, scoring 19 points on 34% from
the field and allowing the Bobcats to grab 6 offensive boards. "We still had the Boston game stuck in our heads," said
Julius Hodge, who finished with his second consecutive double-digit performance. "We kept looking down on them and
kept thinking that if they made a run it wouldn't make a difference. It all added up and we lost." Hodge also gave
credit where it was due. "You have to tip your hats off to the Bobcats though. They were outplayed by us the first
three quarters but never gave up."

Back to back unanswered baskets by rookie Adam Morrison narrowed a six point lead to two with 4 minutes remaining.
Brevin Knighgt also added a running layup to tie the game and Adam Morrison would knock down a three pointer to give
the Bobcats a 91-88 lead, their first of the game. The Sixers narrowed the lead down to 91-90, but Emeka Okafor and
Gerald Wallace hit jumpshots to preserve the Bobcats' lead.

I'm pretty sure that after Morrison torched my team that he'd be a better candidate for ROY.

Yeah, I'm not too big of a Joe Smith fan and for some odd reason I really struggle with Korver in the game.

Good win over the Knicks.

Thanks for the info Buckley, I changed up Armstrong, Hodge and Millers' jersey numbers. Thanks for the tip.

Nice first win of the season

Yeah, first win ! Good game by Hilton and for sure by AI2 !

Thanks guys, I was glad I finally got a win.

I think for me it just took a while to get used to playing the Sixers players. I wasn't used to controlling Iguodala, Dalembert or Carney so I had to really feel them out first. I'm getting better at working out which player should do what and its led to a win or two.

Nice recaps, your writing is very serious I like it !

Tough that you could not make it a three game streak, maybe you jsut underestimated the Cats a bit ;)

Rodney Carney with his breakout party. I think you will have much fun with him. His athleticism makes it easy to score and he made 3-4 threes vs the Cats.
