SACRAMENTO -- Kings' home opener was spoiled by Kevin Garnett and the T-Wolves. Only their first loss of the season, but as Ron Artest said after the game - " a loss is a loss, it doesn't matter if its our first or our 21, they played well and we didn't". It all came down to the last shot. At about 30 second mark, the Wolves had a big shot from Mike James, who led the Wolves with 21 points. The score was 87-86 Wolves. John Salmons dribbled it on the right side of the court, then hit Shareef on the post, double team came and Abdur-Rahim nailed Kevin Martin for a wide open jam. The Wolves came back, and KG easily dunked on a post up. Kings took the ball, there wasn't a play set up, so Salmons got somewhat open and went for a deep 2, off the rim, Foye gets fouled with 6 tics remaining. 1 of 2. Bibby gets the ball, swings it to Miller for a baseline shot, it looks good....off the rim.

With a bunch of oooohs and after the buzzer boos, Kings got their first loss and Wolves enjoyed their first win. Mike Bibby led all scorers with 23 points, Artest had 13 and Abdur-Rahim got a double double with 11-11. The Wolves were led by the player of the game Garnett with 19 points and 12 boards and Hassel with 12 points. Off the bench, Foye had 11 and Williamson came away with 8. "I think we had some lucky bounces, but we played very good today, James made some good shots, I was able to get the ball down low for turnaround shots." - said Garnett after the game.

SACRAMENTO -- Even though Shareef Abdur Rahim only had 11 points, 2 of them, he really made count. Down by 1, 104-105, the Kings had 21 seconds to win it. Bibby set it up on top, Artest got to the right side and recieved the ball, with a pump fake he was able to lose Prince and drove closer, Rasheed Wallace switched to stop Artests open shot, while Ron bounce passed it to Shareef, who now had Hamilton guarding him. "I saw the clock go to 3 seconds, Rip was on me, so I qucikly decided to go up, I had a good release, luckily it was quick enough to go in." - said Abdur Rahim. Pistons jacked up a shot from the top of the key with Hamilton, not even close as the Kings stole a win from Pistons.

"I think we did really well today, even though our only lead came in the final second of the game, Detroit is a good defensive team, we were able to put over 100 points, Martin and Bibby are starting to show chemistry, and Shareef saved us today" - said HC Musselman after the game. Mike Bibby scored 20 points to go with 10 assists, and Martin had a season high 27 points. Kings shot amazing from the FT line going 20-21, lonely miss came from Ronnie Pierce's technical foul shot. For Pistons, Billups made 27 points, Hamilton added 22 and Wallace with 18. Garcia was the high scoring man off the bench with 8. Kings get a 4 day break, while Detroit continues their Pacific Division road trip.

I never understood why Live never lets you replay game-winning shots... I mean of all the plays that happen during the game you'd think they'd let you replay the game-winners.

Glad to see K-Mart get his offence going. He's definitely the new future of the franchise.

Proving everyone wrong, Miller goes for 32 points against Raps

Kings are on fire, beating 1-6 Raptors

SACRAMENTO -- Brad Miller was being bashed by media that he has been underperforming, and some writers even said Kings need to trade him. Miller made sure they shut up. With a monster 32 points and 14 boards, he led the Kings past Toronto, who has been struggling recently, Mo Pete and Bargnani just came back from their injuries. The Kings got off to a 11-2 start, and never looked back, in the 3rd quarter, the Raptors were able to cut it to 3, but back to back dunks from Miller extended it. "It was all about team effort, and we did that. Passing, finding the open man on the offensive side and making Toronto take tough shots on defense helped us win the game. Toronto was double teaming too much, which left me open lots of times for easy dunks." - said Miller after the game. Ron Artest also had an outstanding performance with 23 and 9. Abdur Rahim saw limited action with a sprained thumb, but was still able to put in 5.

TJ Ford came away with 24 points, while Chris Bosh got a double double with 17 and 11. Peterson and Parker got 15 and 16 respetively. Kings shot very well from the field with 48%, compared to horrible 36 from Raps. Mike Bibby and Corliss Williamson, off the bench, got 12. K-Mart had an off night with 9 points. Sacramento hosts 1-4 Memphis and Raptors continue their west coast trip with a visit to Oakland.

Damn, this is a really good dynasty! It is bizarre seeing Sacto winning again. It sucks that nobody wants Miller though.

Aww you beat my favourite team. :? Oh well, Toronto is absolutely doo-doo on the inside so I'm not suprised that Miller was able to snap out of his funk against a weak rebounding team like the Raps.

Kings trade Thomas, Douby to Grizzlies for Swift, Johnson

Sacramento Bee

SACRAMENTO -- Today, the Kings announced a trade. The Kings decided to sent veteran PF Kenny Thomas and an unused SG Quincy Douby to the struggling Grizzlies for C Stromile Swift and PF Alexander Johnson. "I think its a good shake-up, Thomas is getting old and I just didn't see how Quincy would fit into our system, I'm looking forward to Stromile and Alexander joining our squad" - said Eric Musselman at the press conference. Stromile has been quiet in the season with only 3 PPG and 6 RPG. Alexander Johnson was used sparingly with .5 PPG and 1 APG. "I'm glad I got traded, Memphis was struggling and I didn't think I was able to help them, Sacramento seems like its gotten on track without injuries, and I'm looking to make an impact on the team immediately" - said Stromile Swift.

"This came as a shock to me, I thought I was staying here till retirement" - said Kenny Thomas "Memphis it is, move on and hopefully I can help them out as much as I did with Kings". Stromile is probably going to be 6th man off the bench, and Alexander Johnson will get some "garbage" minutes. The Kings are 5-1 right now and their next game is against the Grizzlies. Swift and Johnson showed up at the practice today and we were able to get a few pics of them.

AWSUM trade this will help heaps and i will break it down

Swift for Thomas- Great Move Swift is yound and has plenty of potential on both ends and this will consolidate ur big men whereas Thomas is a dissmall player and is too old.

Johnson for Douby- This is one you can't really judge but i think Douby has more potential then johnson although the two i have little knowldge on but i say memphis just got the better of that but i don't think Douby really made a differance in ur team so it doesn't matter

But anyway great trades hopefully they perform (Y)

SACRAMENTO -- Mike Bibby was sensational again for the Kings as they picked up their 6th W on the year. Memphis stayed close throughout the game, but when Pau Gasol (27 points, 6 rebounds) fouled out, Grizzlies were done. Martin and Brad Miller got some rest and newcomer Stromile Swift along with Garcia started instead of them. Bibby went for 26 points and dished out 11 assists. Shareef put in 15, but got in foul trouble and got his 6th quickly in the 4th. Mike Miller just came back from a wrist injury and had a very quiet night with 5 points. "I think the Grizzlies played tough, we were able to crack them on the fast break and some good executed plays on offense led us to a win" - said Mike Bibby. Stromile came away with 9 points, 6 boards and 6 assists, on the opposite side, former King, Thomas got 5 points.

Corliss Williamson led all players off the bench with 10. Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick, the energy guys for Grizzlies, combined for 33. Both teams shot fairly well, Kings being outstanding with 55% from the field. Artest got T-ed up in 2nd quarter for talking to the ref. "It was a BS call on me, I didn't even touch Rudy" - said Ron. Padgett converted the techincal for his only point in the game. Kings will hop a bus to Oakland and Memphis is going home to play Rockets.

Warriors shine in OT to take care of Kings

OAKLAND -- Mike Bibby's 3 pointer with 2.4 points to go didn't matter, as the Warriors rolled on to win in OT. Baron Davis was amazing finishing with 31 points and completely ripping up Kings' defense. The Kings had a nice 7-2 run at the end of the half to lead by 9, but Warriors didn't give up and came back, in the 4th they made a big run and set up a perfect opportunity for Kings to tie and go to OT. 4 missed FT's from Biedrins and Harrington set up 8 seconds and a 96-93 lead for Warriors. Bibby got the ball, dribbled a bit, then stepped up and hit the 3 in Davis' face. Later in OT, Warriors went crazy with a bunch of 3 pointers from Jackson and Davis, as the Kings couldn't do anything, stood and watched. "Pathetic defensive performance in OT from us, we go over fundamentals over and over, and in game time, we can't contest a shot or box out for a board" - said Eric Musselman with dissapointment. Bibby was still able to have a good game, with 26 and 10, while Martin and Shareef couldn't hit a thing. Artest was able to get 18 points and 10 boards, with a huge 4 point play at the end of 2nd quarter. Up next for Kings is a big game against the San Antonio Spurs and Warriors go to LaLa Land and face Clippers. "Its going to be a tough game, but we will try our best to steal a win from San Antonio, looking forward to play agiainst them" - said Artest in the locker room. Kings are now 6-2, Warriors with a pretty bad 3-6, which will improve after this win.
