Hodge Rewarded for Strong Showcase
Guard Signed After Impressing Coaches

October 28, 2006

Oba Bogues' Training Camp Focus
Thandika Long's Training Camp Focus

With training camp coming to a close, the Philadelphia 76ers have decided to start the season with a roster of 13
players after they signed versatile guard Julius Hodge. "We're happy to have Hodge as an addition to the team," says
76er General Manager Billy King. "We think that Hodge wasn't looked at by many teams and that he needed an opportunity
to prove what he can do."

The 6'7 Hodge was drafted 20th overall in the 2005 draft by the Denver Nuggets, but only played 14 games in his first
season. He saw most of his playing time in the NBDL, where he flourished but still could not impress the Nuggets.
He was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks but was waived shortly after. "I didn't want to sign with a team and then just
let them dump me off somewhere," says Hodge. "One thing that Philly had guranteed me was a chance to prove myself.
All I want to do is get back to the NBA and start playing again."

"We don't expect him to log a ton of minutes but I think that he can work his way into the rotation, especially since
he can play so many positions," added head coach Maurice Cheeks. "It's going to be tough for him with all of these
players that already play guard, but he's a hard worker and we really like his game. We're happy to have him on our
team."

Sixers' Green Dealt for Armstrong
Inexperienced Big Men Hopes to Ease Philly's Lack of Size

October 31, 2006

Philadelphia gets: H. Armstrong, L. Johnson

New Orleans gets: Willie Green, Louis Almundson

Just a few days after adding Julius Hodge to their roster, the Philadelphia 76ers have once again brought in new faces
Hilton Armstrong and Linton Johnson to their team, but this time it was at the expense of explosive Sixer guard Willie
Green and rookie Louis Almundson. "It was definitely tough to have to deal away a promising player like Green and we
never really got to actually see what Almundson was capable of," announced General Manager Billy King at the press
conference. "But we are still thin up front and we also had quite a few guards on our roster. We felt that this was
the right decision for us to make."

It appeared that King and the Sixers were keeping a keen eye out for the 6'11 Hilton Armstrong during the 2006 draft,
who was selected 12th overall by the New Orleans Hornets, just 4 spots ahead of their original first round draft pick,
Rodney Carney. "I knew that Armstrong could go anywhere between 10th to the low teens," explained King. "Unfortunately
we weren't able to pick him up but we were also happy to get Rodney Carney since he was also one of our top choices."

King also stated that the undrafted journeyman Linton Johnson and Armstrong's inside presence was the key factor in
making the trade. "I think that Armstrong can be an intimidating force and block some shots down low with Dalemert.
Offensively, he's got a nice face up jumper and hes got a developing post game." King later added "Johnson is also
another player with tons of energy and has a nose for the ball. We definitely need more players like these two who
can grab some rebounds for us."

Neither Armstrong nor Johnson could be contacted, but former Sixer Willie Green was able to give his opinion on the
trade. "I was really hoping to make an impact for the Sixers coming off the bench," said the 41st pick of the 2003
draft over the phone. "It doesn't really matter now though, I understand why the GM would do this trade. I'm a Hornet
now and hopefully I can get more minutes to show what I can do for my new team."

The Sixers will play their season opener against the L.A. Lakers two days from now on November 2.

Hodge isn't going to be dropping 20 points a night anytime soon, but I think that with his ratings he can be be a matchup nightmare when he plays the point. Other than scoring a few points here and there, I don't really see him making too big of an impact, but you never know.

Yeh looks gud i will probably follow but i wll leave judement to the first game/ recap

Whatever floats your boat. The name kind of took up too much space for me anyway.

Thanks, I'm also a fan of Hilton Armstrong. He kind of reminds me of Channing Frye although I really think he should turn up his agressiveness up a notch at times.

I like the trade. Giving Green for Armstrong I think it is fair, and good trade for you. Hilton could become very good backup for Samuel. I'm a bit worried about his potential, because I have him in my Hornets dynasty and he seems that doesn't show any progress at all. But still, good choice (Y)

Sixers Out Duelled in Over-Time

Image94 Image93

November 2, 2006

In a tightly contested game throughout all four quarters (and one extra period), the Los Angeles Lakers managed to show
the league that they can win games without Kobe Bryant. Bryant was saddled with foul problems throughout the entire
game and was held to only 12 points and 10 shots by pesky ball-denial from Andre Iguodala. Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown and
a little help from Jordan Farmar in overtime helped the Lakers win their first game of the season.

"I'm proud of this team and the way that our big men stepped it up," says Bryant, referring to Odom and Brown who each
had 20 and 18 points respectively. Brown also had 12 rebounds, 6 of them off the offensive end. "They really took it
to the Sixers who probably also executed their offence very well."

Odom had a chance to win the game with 2.6 seconds left on a three point shot that rimmed out, which forced overtime.
Rookie guard Jordan Farmar scored 6 of his 15 points in the extra session including a layup and jumper with 1:30 left
to give the Lakers a 94-90 lead. "I just waited for my offence to come to me first and if I just move the ball around
then I'm bound to get my touches," said Farmer. "Thankfully, I got those touches during overtime when it mattered
and I made my shots."

Andre Iguodala led all scorers with 23 points and also topped it off with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. He hit one of
two freethrows with one minute remaining in overtime to close the gap to 94-91. Odom missed a shot for the L.A. and
Andre Miller hit a runner in the lane to narrow the gap to only 94-93. However, Kyle Korver failed to convert a three
pointer on the final posession after another Laker miss at the other end. Iguodala believes that the team's free throw
shooting was the main blame for the loss, citing a lackluster 52% as the reason why the team came up short. "We had
tons of freebies and we just didn't make them," he says. Iguodala himself only hit 5 of 8 freethrows. "I am also
partially to blame for not making that free throw to send it to another overtime."

Iguodala's ratings seem a bit low for a franchise player but there's no doubt that I'll mold him into a superstar.

I like where this is going could be a great dynasty, Love the trade Hilton could turn into a great player and your article on the trade was great

Thanks, I really enjoy writing up articles like these.

The Hilton trade is quite cool I have to say. Hope you make something out of him he has loads of potential.

Like I said earlier, Hilton reminds me a lot of Channing Frye, which is why I traded for him. He's not as "soft" as most people would expect, and the Laker game was a good example of that.

What's hodges pricetag? in 05 it was quite high I believe

Not too high, he makes around a million for 3 years. I'm 5 million above the salary cap so it doesn't really hurt me too much. Plus I have Joe Smith and Miller's expiring contracts as well.

I like the trade. Giving Green for Armstrong I think it is fair, and good trade for you. Hilton could become very good backup for Samuel. I'm a bit worried about his potential, because I have him in my Hornets dynasty and he seems that doesn't show any progress at all. But still, good choice

Sucks to see him not getting any better in your dynasty, I was banking on his potential to get better next season. Oh well, I can always train the guy and I have two assistant coaches so it shouldn't take too long to bump up his ratings.

Thanks for all of the comments guys, I've never really gotten too many comments before, so thank you once again for the support.

Iguodala's Career Night Not Enough Against Denver

Image90 Image91

Click on Logos for boxscores

November 14, 2006

Despite having both career highs in points and rebounds, Andre Iguodala could not lead his team through yet another
nail-biting loss. Iguodala scored a whopping 40 of Philadelphia's 90 points on 16 of 24 shooting, and also contributed
13 rebounds and 3 steals in the Sixers second loss of the season.

"It's tough," says Iguodala with a sigh. "There aren't that many times in a season where you're in the zone like I
was today, but it all goes to waste when you don't get the win." What makes this remarkable game by Iguodala even
more sweet was that he was playing against former teammate and future hall of famer, Allen Iverson. Iverson demanded
a trade a few months ago and was traded for Joe Smith and Andre Miller, the latter scoring 9 points and dishing out
9 assists.

"You can't help but feel bad for the guy when he scores 40 and his team still doesn't win," Iverson had said after he
finished with the game with a team-high 22 points. "A lot of the times that's how I felt when I played in Philly, a
lot of the times you feel a hole in your stomach because you did all that you could for the team." Iverson however,
praised the young franchise player for his feat. "He really carried his team through the game man. Without Iggy over
there driving to the basket we would have won by a lot more."

One particular segment of the game featured Iguodala's amazing scoring ability. With Denver leading 84-83 in the fourth,
Iverson knocked down a short jumper and was answered by an Iguodala three pointer. Carmelo Anthony hit another jumper
and DerMarr Johnson nailed a three pointer to give the Nuggets a 91-86 lead with only 1:27 remaining. Iguodala hit
two clutch free throws and stole the ball at the other end for a dunk to bring the game within 1 with only 26 seconds
left. Anthony missed a three and Iguodala could not get his shot off in time to cap off his 15 point explosion in the
fourth.

Yeah I know, I haven't played Live in a while so I'm rusty when it comes to free throw shooting. Thanks for the compliment about my recaps.

I have to say your recaps are the best of any, writing wise. While is doesn't show off all the candy off expensive graphics cards, tweaked screenshits, fancy headers and video footage, yours is one of only 2 dynasties I actually read the recaps of.

Great writing, but too bad Iggy didn't get a win to go with that monster statline.

It's great to see Carney getting good burn, he was one of my favorite college players. Knowing you though, an athletic swingman with 3 point range and a huge vertical should be expecting minutes under your control

Nope. I use a good graphics card, sharpen my screenshots, make headers and show video footage, as do many other dynasty writers. I was pointing out that despite not having all the flashy stuff this is still a very quality dynasty, and if you don't read the recaps, your missing out on basically the whole thing because he is a great writer. It's a very straight to the point, yet formative recap style.

EDIT: Man I'm tired, I completely messed p my spelling and the words I was gonna write never turned up in my last post.
