Philly Dynasty - Decided to not post games anymore

Reporter: After 82 long endured games, the playoffs have begun. The Philadelphia 76ers have once again clinched the division title and the number seed in the eastern conference with 67 wins. After winning the playoffs last season, coach James Weir has forgotten bout that like it never happened and kept his eye on this seasons playoffs. We asked Andre Iguodala on his thoughts

(Cuts To Scene with Iguodala sitting down chatting to a Reporter)
Andres View on this season

Iggy: I would definitely say we had a slow start at the beginning of the season, I guess we still had a championship hangover, but we definitely got back on track and worked hard this season, I guess thats why we had a slow start cos James wanted to change our style of game to last seasons and its worked. He would be one of the hardest working coaches IMO, there is no celebration for this man, *laughs* he is always thinking one step ahead from everyone else and i think thats how he gets us here.

((Cuts back to reporter)
Reporter: There is no doubt he is but you gotta show your appreciation to the players, James is a very demanding coach and the players give him the expectation he desires from them. Now lets take a look at the playoff matchups in both conferences

Western Conference

1. Houston [53-29]
8. Clippers [40-42]

2. Pheonix [52-30]
7. Spurs [42-40]

3. Denver [50-32]
6. Sacramento [45-37]

4. Dallas [52-30]
5. Golden State [47-35]
_________________________________________________

Eastern Conference
1. Philadelphia [67-15]
8. New York [44-38]

2. Cleveland [53-29]
7. Detroit [46-36]

3. Miami [48-34]
6. Indiana [48-34]

4. Toronto [51-31]
5. Chicago [50-32]
_______________________________________________________

Reporter: The 76ers who had lead the regular series 3-1 against New York has now got them to face first round in the playoffs, but no game has been domination in the series for either team, in fact their last game went into double overtime but thats when philly then took over. This is what coach Weir had to say.

(Cuts to scene where James Weir is sitting with a reporter)

James Weir: No game is easy, especially New York, I tell ya, they arent one of my favourite teams to play, but i am confident though with my team, we have a great side especially in our defence. We are a good rebounding team, through Kidd and Iguodala who crash boards, two players who can play full court man, zone, a trap. They are a true key to my team.

Reporter: Whats the key to holding New York Knicks back to playing their best?

James Weir: Pretty much keeping their guards from penetrating, Marbury, Crawford, Richardson... are all strong and gooad finishers around the basket. I know their weakness is inside with Frye, Jerome James, Taylor, Lee, Sweetney and Malik Rose. So If we can keep their guards off the dribble and them looking inside to their big men, we can pretty much control the game from there on.

Note: Game Results will be in by Monday and player awards

Knicks @ Philadelphia Game 1 Playoffs!!!

Kenny Smith: Hello i am Kenny Smith with Reggie Miller on the TNT broadcast, The game is almost getting away but first... Reggie what does New York need to do to beat Philadelphia tonight?

Reggie Miller: Kenny, i think they need to keep philly from the 3pt line tonight. They shot an incredible 39.5% from there in the regular season, BUT.... this is the thing, Philly like to get the ball early to Gasol, Dalembert and Webber down low early. Philly know this is where they are going to dominate. Also New York need their guards, such as Marbury and Crawford penetrating the basket early, get in there, create foul trouble for Philly's big men and get some easy points from free throws.

Kenny Smith: Thanks Reggie now we head down to Wachovia Center for the tip off

Philadelphia 76ers Starting 5
C - Dalembert
F - Gasol
F - Iguodala
G - Giricek
G - Kidd

New York Knicks Starting 5
C - Frye
F - Sweetney
F - Q.Richardson
G - Crawford
G - Marbury

Game Summary
1st Qtr
The game started off slow, teams trading baskets, what was poor from Philly was that they were lacking on rebounds which created 2nd chance points for the Knicks. Knicks gained a minor lead towards the end only for Kidd to hit a 3 to regain the momentum. Phily was hurt by turnovers which lead to fast break points. Scores 24-20 My way

2nd Qtr
The lack of defence let the Knicks pick up the lead early in the 2nd. Marbury and Crawford hit some early 3's leaving Philly with nothing to do but call a TO. Gasol spent most of his first half at the line, he was perfect from 9 attempts. Marbury had 14 points by half time. He is using his knowledge and playoff experience to an advantage. No one contributing in offence for Philly!Scores: 50-44 Knicks Way

Players At The Half
 Marbury - 14 points, 1 steal, 3 assist
 Gasol - 17 points, 4 rebounds

3rd Qtr
The beginning of the quarter was disaster for Philly, Marbury yet again pulled another 3 out of the bag. It wasnt looking so well for Philly until they brought their superstars back into play and Starbury was sent off due to foul trouble, after Kidds 3 pointer with the assist of Dalembert. IT CLICKED!!! They were back in the game and had grabbed the lead once again near the end of the quarter. The run had began when Marbury was sat down. Scores 67-66 My way

4th Qtr
It was looking good for Philly as their lead started increasing, but when Stephon Marbury had come back on and started his domination once again. He had got the lead back and Philly trailed by 6 with 2 minutes to go, Philly had it down to 2 points but Korver choked on the open 3 to gain the lead with only 30 seconds to go. Game ended at 100-99 New York gained advantage into next game

Player Of The Game  Marbury 32 points, 5 assists, 3 steals (3-5 3pt)

What James Weir had to say after the game
James Weir: I was disapointed in my team, i think we lacked in Defence, no one was playing help D and none of our shooters were confident tonight. A lot of the young guys were intimidated to by the more experienced players on New York and created turnovers. Its a mind game to them. We just got to go out there and focus on what we got to do.

Playoff Results
Houston 97 - Clippers 88
Dallas 87 - Golden State 85
Sacramento 113 - Denver 102
San Antonio 101 - Pheonix 91

New York @ Philadelphia Game 2

Kenny Smith: Hello, i am Kenny Smith here with Reggie Miller on the TNT broadcast. The game is nearly underway. Reggie, do you think Philly can bounce back?

Reggie Miller: Definately Kenny, they are an aggressive side and the talent to go with it is just tramendess. Philly really need to focus on their D tonight because thats where they accumulate points from. Their bench has to step up aswell, Korver was asleep last game and Webber only had 8 points. I mean Webber is prolly the biggest factor for Philly because he is an experienced playoffs player, knows the ins and outs of it and even though is a 6th man prospect, can still dominate a game as well as starting on the court. Coach Weir has decided to start him today, its good to see they got him startin, very good mid range game, draws double teams and down on the block, and has a pass like a playmaker.

Kenny Smith: Ok thanks Reggie, now we head down to Wachovia Center for the tip off

Philadelphia's Starting 5
C - Gasol
F - Webber
F - Iguodala
G - Giricek
G - Kidd

New York's Starting 5
C - Frye
F - Sweetney
F - Q.Richardson
G - Crawford
G - Marbury

1st Qtr
Philly got the lead at the start of the game, Iguodala had 9 points in a matter of minutes, Marbury was taken off early coz of foul trouble. A lead was gained by Philly when he was taken off. A late 3 by Kidd put Philly infront by 5 and a post jumper by Gasol on the buzzer had them ahead by 7 at the end of the qtr. Gasol and Iguodala had 21 of Philly's 29 points Scores 29-22 My way

2nd Qtr
The game was played at a fast pace, teams trading baskets. Gasol and Iggy were getting to the foul line causing foul trouble for New York's big men. Philly failed to play any defence in the qtr which kept the Knicks in the game. Marbury and Crawford were getting to the basket like as if they could just walk in and lay up. Scores 50-46 My way

Players At The Half
Frye  8 points, 2 boards, 2 steals
Gasol  17 points, 4 boards, 3 assists

3rd Qtr
The qtr was dominated by Philly through their defence and offence. Philly had a 20-2 run which made the Knicks use a timeout. Not only was Gasol and Iguodala running the court by Scoring, Rebounding and Dishing.. Kidd, Korver and Salmons were all contributing on the stat sheet. Crawford was scoreless in the 3rd and Marbury only had 2 points. Note: Knicks only scored 6 points in the 3rd qtr The lowest I have ever held a team to in a quarter

4th Qtr
There was nothing the Knicks could do about Gasols performance, he created 2nd chance points for Philly.... And Iguodala, the crowd said it all, chants of MVP every time he had the ball. Marbury seemed to be the only one in the last qtr doing anything. Final scores 105-72 with the win Philadelphia have tied the series at one a piece.

Player Of The Game
P. Gasol
 36 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists

Credit To  A. Iguodala who added 29 points, 7 boards and dropped 4 dimes in tonights win

Rebounds  Taylor 6, Sweetney 5
Assists  Frye 3, Ariza 2

New York  27.8%

Philadelphia  86.5% (32-37)
New York  73.3% (11-15)

James's comments on the game

James Weir: I dont know if we have been asleep the last game and the first half of this game, but we finally woke up. The way we played in the second half, when we play like that.... There is no one who can stop us. We did exactly what i was talking about last week, we shut down the guards, boxing out offensive boards. Our offence was running well, we had Iggy, Gasol, Webber, Kidd all dishing.... When we are playing like that, its enevitable for other teams to win.

Philadelphia @ New York Game 3

Kenny Smith: Hello, I am Kenny Smith here with Reggie Miller on the TNT broadcast, we are about to start but first, Reggies thoughts...

Reggie Miller: Thanks Kenny, what i think needs to happen here is that New York really need to post a win tonight. They certainly cant give Philly a lead in the series, because there wont be no comebacks. New York tonight have to maintain Pau Gasol, he had 36 points last game, Double Teams, Defensive sets, anything to keep this guy from having the ball in his hands. They really need someone else to beat them besides Gasol if they are going to have any hope this series.

Kenny Smith: Thanks Reggie, now we head down to Madison Square Garden for the tip off.

Game Summary
1st Qtr
Baskets were traded early, Marbury had some early points. Iguodala and Gasol got to the line most of the first qtr where they got most of their points from. Open jumpshots were missed by the Knicks which gave Philly a minor lead. Scores: 27-22 My way

2nd Qtr
Some early baskets from Philly enabled to increase their lead. Gasol had lead the Knicks centres to foul trouble as he got to the line more in the qtr. Too many offensive rebounds were to Philly which created 2nd chance points. New Yorks defence was shocking. Scores: 51-42 My way

Players At The Half
A. Iguodala  12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks
S. Marbury  14 points, 3 assists, 1 steal

3rd Qtr
Early in the qtr the Knicks had it down to 3pts, they had some momentum going but was soon shut down by Philadelphia's defence. Philadelphia were running both sides of the court and had a few fast break points due to the lack of getting back on defence by the Knicks. Frye and Sweetney both had 4 fouls by the end of the Qtr. A late 3 to beat the buzzer was put in by Giricek. Scores: 75-66 My way

4th Qtr
The qtr was traded with baskets, Philly could not increase their lead and Knicks couldnt get closer to winning. Iguadala dominated in the last qtr. Gasol and Kidd were also contributing on the scoreboard. By the final buzzer, Philly had taken the victory. 107-97 Philly have the advantage in the series with a 2-1 lead

Player Of The Game
A. Iguodala
 28 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks

Credit To  Jason Kidd who recorded his first triple double for the 06-07 playoffs (14 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists)

Poor Performance  Crawford only had 6 points which was only scored in the last half

Philadelphia Stat Leaders
Points  Iguodala 28, Gasol 27
Rebounds  Kidd 10, Webber 9, Iguodala 9
Assists  Kidd 12, Iguodala 4
Steals  Giricek 1, Gasol 1
Blocks  Iguodala 3, Three tied with 1

New York Stat Leaders

What James Weir Had To Say After The Game

James Weir: This team is really starting to impress me, Iguodala has really showed everyone what kind of player he can be, Jason Kidd recording a triple double as well tonight, he is building his confidence. Gasol is really enjoying his basketball right now, he has never played better, and everyone is really just stepping to the plate, Giricek played well tonight, Webber has had a pretty good performance this final series, I am sure he has got games to come where he will exploit teams defence, time will tell. I dont think Knicks have really no hope against us this series.

Playoff Series
Houston 3 - 0 Clippers
Dallas 2 - 1 Golden State
Denver 2 - 1 Sacramento
Phoenix 2 - 1 San Antonio
Philadelphia 2 - 1 New York
Toronto 3 - 0 Chicago
Miami 1 - 2 Indiana
Cleveland 2 - 1 Detroit

Season Awards For 06-07

6th Man
After what was a long and endured season, there was some talk about who the 6th man was going to be, some said Webber, who was a force off the bench but wasnt a pure 6th man, he was getting heaps of game time and people then started to wonder who else it couldve been, rafer alston was also talked about getting it as he put up numbers to be in the competition for 6th man. But it was no other than Kurt Thomas for the Suns who was awarded the 6th Man, averaging 6 points and 6 boards off the bench was good enough to be awarded 6th man.

Defensive Player
All contenders had close numbers, so much talk on Kirilenko who averaged over 2 steals and blocks a game and 8 defensive rebounds. Richard Jefferson was talked about who had become a real threat defensively this season, The Big Ticket, KG, was another favourite to win who averaged just uner 2 steals and blocks a game to add to his incredible 8.7 defensive rebounds a game. After what was talked on who was going to get the award and probably the most anticipated award was officially given to Ben Wallace who had an outstanding season with the Atlanta Hawks.

Most Improved Player
Yes, some have agreed, some have wondered but no one knew. Marvin Williams who had an awesome season was a favourite to win the award as he improved on his points, rebounds and assists by incredible numbers. Manu Ginobili was the top contender for this award, especially how he started all of his games last season and this season unlike the others and improved on his stats by a huge margin, every1 thort he was definately going to be awarded. But it was Troy Hudson for Minnesota who was the MIP, he had a season lyk no other, stats had improved lyk no one else has. he was +13 ppg, +3 rebounds, +4 assists from last season.

The awards will continue throughout the playoffs so be patient, as for now, The MIP, 6th Man and Defensive Player have been announced
