Needs help with recording videos onto computer

Postby Nick on Wed Sep 10, 2003 7:39 pm

Ok...here's the deal...

I just bought a new graphics card (GeForce 4 MX 440 8x) which has a TV input, and i want to plug the VCR into the back of the computer so i can record videos as MPEGs and then edit them in a program and make movies and such...

So i went out and bought the appropriate cables (the VCR is now plugged into the card)...i've got the editing program...i'm almost set...right?

Ok...so how do i actually record these damn videos onto the comp? i'm clueless. What program do i need, and how do i use it?

Cheers.

the things people do! Actually I always wondered how to do this my self... I wanted to plug the video camer or vcr into the pc... but I haven't got a card so there goes that I guess. There goes my idea of making a fully nude music video!!

I have a proggy on my comp that came with the comp called Windows Movie Maker... (came with win 98 me) so I dunno if that helps at all or if everyone's got this program... The Folder is 12 meg, so I'll see how small it is when zipped and if its reasonable I can send it over msn. Though i don't think the program is anything special, but could be good to get you started in the home made porn industry...

Don't know where you got that idea. I've never had/felt the need to do that, so I don't really know much about it. :?

Stoivan,
I've got Movie Maker on my computer too, it's no help and it's gay.

Andrew,
we already spoke on MSN, but so i don't look like the fool here, Clinton was the one who told me you'd know. :D

Luckily David found the perfect program. it's called Virtual VCR. (Y):)

Unfortunately a misunderstanding. I've recorded footage of PS2 games onto a VHS (very easy as I run my PS2 through my VCR ), but I've never made any MPEGs. But it's good to hear you've been able to solve te problem. (Y)

Well, it looks like i have the right program, i think, so that's a plus. But a new problem has come up. I don't know how to explain it really though, cos i know nothing about this shit. All i know is that my 'nVidia Video Capture' driver is fucked up. Some 'code 10' error. If somebody knows about this kind of thing and wants to help me then hit me up on MSN --> barny_ismename@hotmail.com...

Please.
