The Shield aka Qballer & Jackal Shield discussion thread

I'm going to dig up The Shield thread I made a few months back, so we don't keep spamming up the Milestone thread, who cares if me & you are the only ones that'll be discussing it, atleast I'll have SOMEONE to talk to about the show!

Edit: Jesus Christ that was a lot of searching, the forum's search engine is the gayest thing since Legend. (I only say that because since he's changed his name to Jackal_, searching the forum becomes even more tedious given you've already got almost 10.000 frigging posts to go through! :? )

Anyways, here it is Q, see you in there.

The Shield.

Came across this too, I found it funny again.

Jackal's Guide to Internet Flames.

I wonder how Mike's doing, still in prison I'm guessing. :(

It was nice to see them being friends again, the last few episodes you really see how torn apart they've become. What I do find a tad surprising is that Vic can't read Shane. If you look at the flashbacks, you see how "comfortable" Shane is. In present shots, you see he's sort of nervous. Then again, Vic is so consumed with rage, I doubt he's paying Shane much attention.

Talking about Shane, I despise Mara. With a vengeance.

I don't know if you used to watch "The Commish", it used to air on Lifetime. Isn't it amazing how Chiklis tranformed himself to a pudgy balding oldie to one of the coolest characters to ever grace television?

11 days to go!

hey do you remember that one episode where the chick that was a former law student turns into a ho and her pimp comes to the station and Dutch & Claudette catch her taking it from behind and he gives that advice about giving the girl love all that she ever wanted and then taking it away?

yeah I've determined that the advice was fucking awesome and i must see the episode again.

yeah I've never liked Mara either, especially when she took the Armenian money. I never caught The Commish, but I assume it was somewhat similar to The Shield. How bout Chiklis getting a big time movie deal in Fantastic Four? Jessica Alba woot woot. :P

I personally thought Glenn Close did a good job but I was shocked with Anthony Anderson, who has come a long way from the teen basketball show "Hang Time" I used to watch (with Reggie Theus and some hot blond chick.... they had NBA guests a lot).
http://imdb.com/title/tt0111994/
I liked the cameos by Michael Pen(<-i don't know how to put the squiggle above it)a. he was great in the movie "Crash".
but of all the guests, I gotta say Paula Garcés is the best one. such great eye candy. oh and her acting ain't half bad too lol
She was Maria in Harold and Kumar.

I totally forgot you were a mod in this section, I was thinking about asking one of the other guys to move the posts, good thinking Q!

I remember that advice, when I heard it, I was like hmm, maybe I ought to try it, but after the show was over, I probably forgot it. Now that you mention it though and reminded me about it, I'm going try it out now. (Given I broke up with the girl I was going out with last Saturday.)

Now that you mention that scene, I remember laughing my ass off at it. When they came in to the interrogation room, their faces were like...uh, okay, wtf is going on in here? :?

Heeeeeeell no, the Commish was like a female's drama, the only reason I caught it was because my sister wouldn't let me watch TV so I had to endure those endless chickflicks on "Lifetime: Television for Women."
Just for kicks you should see if you can download one of those episodes (doubt it, but okay)...then only will you see how much Vic Mackey kicks ass. The man is a God.

The only reason I went to watch Fantastic Four was because of Chiklis and Alba. I've been a fan of Alba since her "Dark Angel" days add to that Chiklis and you've got me as a fan of Fantastic Four. God, that was a cheesy movie. :shake: The new one looks pretty nifty though.

I tried the advice on a girl and it works only on girls that are clingy. And it would've worked if I wasn't second on her list... she was madly in love with this other guy. You remember exactly which episode it was? a number wuold really help. I'm gonna see if I can download it.

girls that are worth wasting your time on, those strong, independent, well-rounded girls don't fall for that shit.

oh and I am quite familiar with Lifetime.... it's pretty well known here in the States as a women's station with chick flicks/shows on 24/7. A police show has no business on that channel

^^I had a big long edit when you posted that

Q, you owe me 50 minutes of my life. I just had to find the episode for you & God do I love Google, just using key words I was able to find the episode, the characters name (Tori Burke is the hoe) and the pimp is called Spank and using those names I was able to actually find the clip of him giving the advice on Youtube.

It's episode 11 of Season 5. Post Partum it's called.

Here's the link to the advice part.

My favorites also have to be Anthony Anderson, Paula and Close. I used to watch Hang Time too, every Saturday morning on NBC. Right before Saved by the Bell: The New Class. So yeah, when I heard about Anderson I thought he'd be the funny guy or something of the sort, never figured he'd be as dangerous as he turned out to be. I really liked Close's character, she had so much faith in Vic, she was always on his side. The first time I saw Tina's character I immediately Googled her, the girl is on fire. Hottest thing to grace television since Alba in Dark Angel. Really, the lingerie shots and all. Dutch is surely going to be tapping that ass the coming season.

I didn't like Army's character much, he was a pushover and the way his face was always so damn blank irked the shit out of me. I agree though, he was great in Crash, last movie I saw of him was WTC I thinks.

Hey, thanks for that, I hadn't seen it either.

God, I know Kavanaugh is "the good guy" and all, but I haven't hated a character this much since...damn, I've never hated a character this much.

I know what Vic did in Season 01 wasn't right, but this guy is just pissing me off. As you said, I'll pretty much enjoy watching Vic kill this guy. :x

heh i just watched the "pimpology" clip again and it makes me want to see the part where Dutch uses the advice on Paula Garcés. I think he says something about how people don't see how damn smart she is or something to that extent. I'm really curious to see if she comes back next season and where Dutch goes with it.

oh and i read an article on yahoo about how Shane & Lem are actually friends in real life. i thought it was funny that Shane killed him after getting back from going to the super bowl together:
http://tv.yahoo.com/news/article/urn:ne ... ield__ER:1

also a clip about why they killed off lem:

I refrained from entering this thread till I saw the episode. I wasn't sure if something would be said, I just wasn't sure.

I just finished watching it and...to quote a brave brave man, this is a whole new playing field.

I'll write something when I'm feeling less sick in my stomach.

After this episode, I dislike Shane even more. Just goes to show how big of a pussy he is. Instead of fessing up and facing what he did like a man, he was almost about to blow himself away.

The man is a frigging coward, I despise him. Lem, Ronnie & for sure Vic are so much more manly than him. Shit, Dutchboy is more of a man than him. Hell, the hot latina is more manly. Fucking faggot.

On another note, this is like a totally new Vic, wouldn't you say? The Kavanaugh confrontation, the Aceveda confrontation, the way he was upright about not wanting to be dicked around by Dutch. He's on a short leash, this is going to be an amazing season as a Mackey fan I thinks.

Best line was...

"You think I'm a cop killer? Maybe I am. You're a cop, right?"
"Was that a direct threat on my life?"
"All I'm saying is that this is an entirely new playing field, I hope you know the rules."

Kavanaugh continues to set new lows, becuase after that convo above he gets Vic to not go home so he can go there and plant evidence. and yes i wish to slap Shane whenever i see him on screen.
I think the "new" Vic is here because of Lem's murder. it has blinded him somewhat and he won't be as careful as he was before.

Agreed, Kavanaugh is becoming the one & same thing he despises. A bad cop.

I don't think Vic gives a shit about being "careful" anymore. With the world fighting you, I think he has a mindset of..."fuck em all".

Nopes, it didn't have those, but I make it a point not to watch the previews of the next show. It kind of takes away from the next episode.

For the next episode, try it. You'll see you'll enjoy the episode a lot more.

(I used to watch the next episode promo's on FXNetworks first.)

And another guy on the team, you remember the whole Tavon ordeal. :?

well it wasn't a "stay tuned for scenes from our next episode" type deal. they showed like 30 half-second clips of the upcoming season and had your generic announcer talking about how exciting the upcoming season will be.

What an episode. That was just kickass.

I just came from work, I had an hour between school and work, so I caught the episode then. I'm just posting now.

I hope that isn't the last we see of Kavanaugh, what a weak way for him to be "put away" in the show. I'd rather see something bad happen to him. Yes, that's how much I dislike him.

Also Vic getting sidetracked by cases is starting to like bug me a bit. I know he has to do the cases, but I just want to watch what's going on between Vic/Kavanaugh/Vic tracking Lem's killer. This season is one of the most anticipated seasons by me as a Shield fan.

I just don't want Vic's reign to end..but episode by episode...you just feel it's all going to come crashing down. :(
