Live 2004 push back to oct. 14th & espn pushed up to Oct

Tue Sep 09, 2003 11:46 am

My local gamestop says that espn release has been pushed up to Oct. 1st and nba live 2004 has been pushed back to Oct. 14th. Ea pushed live back to Oct. 14th a week prior to sega pushing their date up....i assume ea will probably push their game back up to the 7th/8th in response...i dont think they will let espn get a 2 week jump on them...if they do...we'll see.

I agree, I have a feeling Live will match the street date--Didn't Live push the date up like 2 weeks before the release or something like that last year. That's alwasy been EA's strategy anyway, hit them hard FIRST, I'm glad 2k4 is stepping up in that department. It'll be interesting to see what develops--Man, where is the basketball info at? September is usually the HOT month for the info. Lat year, wasn't it early September where we found out about freestyle and whatnot. I know EA got's more under there sleeve. Both games should be in the testing phase by now--so hopefully we will see a lot more real previews.

Tim, HOLLA at ya BOY!

I'll see if I can get confirmation.

EDIT: I should really proof read - that way, I'd know when I leave words out of my posts.

Yea, please do so.

I was kinda expecting the delay anyway but still disappointed

actually...theres more info this year out about the b-ball games than last year...its just that we've got most of the info real early this year....last year ea piled on the movies and previews right at september...this year they've put up movies since like august...spoke on 10-man capture real early.....

i agree about espn though...there should be more out about it right now....but maybe the next 2 weeks they'll show alot...i know at operation sports they've been keepin up with espn with the tip-off tuesday stuff....today they will be showing the new "iso-motion" stuff on espn...we'll see

It's better than a few years ago when it came out on February 16th or something.

true Collin, damn that year sucked! I remember waiting, I think it came out like a week before the all star break and it sucked. No Pc version.

But, I'm really interested to see what the franchise mode is all about. I'm playing a Madden 2004 franchise right now and I'm just amazed at how DEEP it is. I know Live won't be as deep but--I was ok with the franchise mode of the past--so it'll be a nice suprise ( I hope). I was glad when Andrew confirmed that there will be trading of draft picks--man I've been waiting for that aspect for a long minute. Damn, I want some info--anything. OS is releasing info, movies, and screens on 2k4 on a weekly basis--so that's cool. The latest Inside Drive screens and movies don't really excite me as of yet (kinda looks the same)--but we will see.

Just seeing what Tony and the rest of the boys did with the Street Mod for Live 2003 is Amazing! Just makes me smile at all the possibilites for 2004! All you PC heads know what I mean.

I wouldn't really mind. That just gives me more time to come up with $30 for the game :o

Also, why did Sega sell their sports games series to ESPN now?

Fri Sep 12, 2003 8:25 am

Because they think with the title "ESPN" infront of their game they might sell more copies. But we all know, Sega will never outsell EA in any Sports games with or without the ESPN infront. But atleast there trying.

I want them to take as long as they want with releasing this...let them make the game as best as they can. Rushing can bring about bugs...and if you're the owner of a buggy unpatchable console game...then you're unhappy.

Still haven't been able to get confirmation. I'll keep everyone informed.

A delay doesn't bother me that much. To me, pushing the release back suggests that the development team is willing to take the time to make sure all the bugs are ironed out, the cyberfaces and textures look good, etc.

Sega probably wont sell out ea but their games are hella better. As a console user i have played madden and espn football "nfl 2k4" and 2k4 is 2x better then madden.

Anyway EA always releases their games before sega so they already get a good jump on sales.

On wal-mart.com they say live(for console) will be out on the Oct. 15.
