What frustrates you about your computer?

250 GB of space is the standard nowadays. You can get up to 3 terabytes on a Mac Pro these days.

Honestly, who needs that much space? Unless your trying to run a cinema in your bedroom My old computer had 37GB and that was just a little annoying because I couldn't have much video on it but I'm perfectly happy with the 120GB or so this new one has.

Or maybe since NZ is 5 years behind the bigger countries 250GB isn't the standard over here. I definately wouldn't mind having 250GB though

if it is really a 3000+ model all you need to do is configured your mobo. maybe it is set to a lower fsb. it has a manual included right? or if you dont want to touch a bios or your mobo, a technician could help you with it.

I emailed the guy and he continues to say it is an "AMD Athlon 3200+". Apperantly its 2.2GHz. Could you direct me to some info on how to configure it? This deal has become a real bitch, from having no sound card to having dead pixels on the screen and now to this...

Hi Shannon

1.09GHz sounds too low. If the BIOS was reset to factory settings this might
happen. When you boot, it should indicate an Athlon XP 3200+ processor. To
fix this you have to go into the BIOS settings and adjust the CPU clock
manually (I don't recall exactly what to set, though I think it should be
set to around 2.2GHz?). The motherboard doesn't automatically set the CPU
speed for you.
As for the LCD, it sounds like you have a stuck pixel. You could try
removing power from it for a short time, but there's not a lot we can do
about those. The monitor is out of warranty and Philips state that they only
replace the screens for three stuck pixels, anyway (which I suspect doesn't
win them any friends). It was OK when I checked it, I saw nothing out of
place. Maybe something moved during shipping. Sigh.

One of the guys I work with has two 300 GB drives in his PC. For most people it's overkill (to say the very least) but it does come in handy if you're working with/storying a lot of multimedia files.

That looks like a 3200+, but the bus speed is too low. The bus speed shoud be at 200, with the rated FSB at 400. You need to go into your BIOS. Restart your computer and press the delete key when you computer starts to POST, which is the screen where it shows the info like cpu and ram.

Here is a page I found that shows what your BIOS looks like, it can alos give you information on overlocking if you ever decide to do it.

I set CPU External Frequency to 200, but there was no Sync option with the Memory Frequency so I left it on Auto, which I assume is the same thing (the other option was SDP or something like that?).

When the computer rebooted it said 2.19GHz... Awesome

Hmm...I used to have an Athlon 64 3200+ and that ran at 2.0 GHz with a 10.0 multiplier. According to CPU-Z you've got an 11.0 multiplier, so I think it might actually be an XP 3400+ (2.2 GHz).

No problem. BigKaboom, thats because it was a Athlon 64. The 10.0 multiplier is normal for that chip.

Yep, like you said earlier, Shannon, is that nobody needs all that room unless you're making a cinema. Video editing takes up a lot of space, but for everyone else, nobody needs that much.

My sound is starting to annoy me. I have a Audigy 4 sound card and Logitech Z650 5.1 speakers except the center speaker stopped working right. I can tell its still getting power but instead of doing what it is supposed to do, it acts like a mini subwoofer. So when I watch movies I have to change it to 4.1 speakers so I can hear dialogue. Anybody know how to fix? lol

The freaking NVIDIA drivers for Vista combined with my 7900 GT and an AMD processor causes most games to be a flickering corrupted mess, and it has gone unfixed for two months now

You're running Vista? There's been a couple of Nvidia driver releases for it within the last two months...have you tried the beta ones in the nZone?

The most annoying thing right now for me is the Stupid Genuine Windows Advantage (my copy of XP is legit, not pirated). Its not so much that I can't use Media Player 11 or that I can't connect with my 360, its that it tries to install at least once every week even when I say do not install without me approving. And when I click no, or later, it restarts the computer.

Those are "new versions" of it, although I have no problem with telling it I don't want it to install and run.

yeah I'm having problems with the new WMP 11 as well. I couldn't even play a regular DVD I bought from the store.

Well, you know the "3200+" means it's supposed to be equivalent to a Pentium 4 running at 3.2Ghz. AMD couldn't keep up in the speed race, but until the C2D could with efficiency, so they used that stupid labeling to sell more because people just look at the speed of the proc.

What frustrates me? The case. It looks like it could fit front fans, but no, no, they can't get in there. The fact that I can barely reach a secondary SATA power cable to the bottom of the case where the HD's are. So it's stretched diagonally across the case which I blame irrationally for any airflow issues that could develop. Move the hard drives up? Never!

And the fact that 15 months later I could have a system for almost $500 less that's three times as powerful as this one. Stupid C2D and 8800's...although I would've killed myself I still had my last computer...

I don't know if it's similiar to the Z-5500, but in the subwoofer, check if you have a little fuse, it's small and looks like a normal fuse, just smaller and thinner.

Perhaps if you try changing that it should revert back to how it's supposed to work. Perhaps you're not getting enough power because of the fuse.
