Well that's the whole point of the idea. You just proved my point by that post. I was stating, that Lebron doesn't need to take 35 shots to win the game, he can share the ball, because he has players to share it with. While Kobe, although I wouldn't call his teammates pathetic, since Walton is turning into a decent player, not to menthion Odom, there are others. Anyways, they lack consistency, so it all really depends on Kobe to decide, wheter he needs to take 35 shots that night or actually try to get his team take a big load of those shots.

This IS the reason he's scoring 50, but it's the sign of a BAD team.

the reason why he has scored so many points is because of a number of reasons, the time was right, he was on fire, some of his teammates were lazy and tired, and he had it going on for him that night... just like Wilt, MJ and Elgin.

Ofcourse I can't deny that the Cavs are on a good streak, LeBron's got solid supporting cast. Big Z isn't trash off the streets. Drew Gooden is playing up to pure potential. Larry Hughes has finally gotten his role and is playing marvelously. Pavlovic also understands his role and plays it to perfection.

The Lakers have...Odom. That's basically Kobe's "supporting cast". The others, they show up one day, other days they might not. Parker is streaky, he can drop 20 on you one night and give you 5 the next. Kwame Brown...enough said?

the Cavs "talent" isn't decidedly better then the Lakers. Other then James, the Cavs have consistency problems as well. It’s their defense and rebounding that keeps them in games

Big Z isn't trash but he's not something special either since last year. his game and usage has taken a hit plus varaejo is the one playing center in the 4th quarter

Pavlovic is supposed to play some defense, wait for the pass on offense,
and then fill the wing on transition. whoop tee do. though the guy's been playing good lately. I see Radmanovic in street clothes during games. Good job Vlad in staying clothed!

IIRC the Lakers had a pretty good record when everyone was healthy. Odom is easily better then James teammates and at least offensively, the Lakers players are a better fit for the system they run

Walton is turning out to be a solid role player, Kwame is finishing better around the basket and playing ok defense. Even bynum has shown improvement since his rookie year (I could see it now- yet another article about Kareem’s great tutelage)

Sorry, Lakers and defense don't mix. Cook and Smush are the worse defensive players in the world. They both are liabilities on offense too. Odom has been injured more than half the season and ever since his first injury, he has reverted back to Odumb. Kwame has also been injured half the season, same as Luke. And Bynum has fallen apart since about 20 games and has never been good defensively. So pretty much no one on the Lakers have played good D, other than Mo Evans(at times) and Kobe(at times).

So you are disliking how much the otherwise weak Lakers need him to win games and how valuable he is to his team, or that he is too good that he put up 60 points again so the losing Denver team is falling behind?

To me, Kobe again carrying his team scoring 60 while selecting his shot carefully is a great feat. But this isn't heathy in long stretch for a team to need so much production out of one guy just to beat some subpar teams. The other team may throw 5 people at Kobe and the rest of his teammates probably still cant make a shot. But what's more important for the Lakers is to improve their team defense, it has been real ugly.

Kobe just joined some elite company with that performance. The way he's been pouring in points, it wouldn't surprise me if he drops 50+ on the Hornets tomorrow. As gergerjai pointed out, it's a bit of a concern that it's been necessary for Kobe to have these huge scoring games for the Lakers to defeat lottery bound teams but that certainly doesn't diminish Kobe's accomplishment.

The game actually wasnt as tight and closely contested as the scoreline indicates. They were in control finishing out the game but some 3 pointers and a bucket at the buzzer is what dwindled it to 2. Also I think its fairly accurate when Kobe speaks of his teammates contribution because alot of the points he didnt have to work overly hard for individually. Guys just found him on his cuts and gave himm the ball in positions where it was just too easy. the 37 shots look like alot combined with the free throws but him not being fatigued at all showed there wasnt really that great a struggle for him. In times past you could see the physical strain on him after the game from him running wild, throwing up shots all out there by himself.

Gotta give alotta credit to Memphis though, they were hitting shots from everywhere. Their confidence just kept growing after each shot they made and it didnt even seem to matter to guys like Mike Miller and Pau Gasol whether guys were on them or not. Too bad Kobe got it going cuz any other night theyd have had a W.



Shammond Williams looked really strong tonight. He had limited action but picked up 6 assists and 9 pts including two 3s. I'd like to see alot more of the guy cuz I remember seeing him in years past thinking he had good enough NBA skills and I gotta say he looked comfortable on the balll tonight, very relaxed and showed good composure/form on shots.

Odom also looked strong as well, as shown by his 20 pts on 8/12 fgs and 15 rbs. He looked sharp on offense and besides from a couple instances was really making smart decisions assisting or making the pass that led to the assist.



All in all nice effort from the guys even if it was against Memphis. These 3 straight wins are a great confidence booster which may help them in reaquiring the form they showed earlier in the season which had LA ranked highly among playoff contenders. They may just go into the playoffs riding such a high which may spell trouble for anyone thinking theyll be pushovers.

I strongly agree with dada. kobe's teammates did not struggle to shoot nor did they attempt that many shots. There's a reason why the lakers are the best passing team in the league... or atleast the last time i checked before they went on a 6 game losing streak or something. the triangle offense lets kobe score much easier although there are many nights when the laker team has to do away with the triangle and let kobe take over.

Well, his averaging only 3 assists during this stretch. Positives are 2 steals and only 2 turnovers.. I say his great, but not the greatest..

Jordan had over 4 assists, 2 turnovers, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.. And 4 steals.. He averaged 55 points..

Jordan played 41 minutes, Kobe 47 minutes..

The Bulls were 2-1 during Jordan's stretch.
