Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:27 am
dont worry about it, i was just about to do the same thing. the appearance.dbf is almost completely different in 07, so what I think im going to do is do a "quick fix" if you will of frenchy's roster, updating the players.dbf so everyone is on the right team and call it a day on rosters. It appears like you have a damn good start on your roster and if you want me to do the location.dbf or something like that I'd be glad to.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:41 am
To be honest, I have never done a full roster so I am not sure what the location.dbf actually is. In a few hours I am going to reinstall Live and all the patching tools I had so I'll be able to check it out then. I'm sorta thinking its the file thats hold all the stadium names but I'm not sure. Out of all the roster files, I would probably need help on the teamgear.dbf, updating colors, jersey years and finding out what is causing the game to have double ups of jerseys in the select jersey screen.
By the way, hows that lighting coming along if you have had a chance to work on it?
I started from scratch again and got something I really liked, took some screens and chucked them into photoshop, then when I put the original files back in my SGSM to get pictures to compare, EA's lighting looked a billion times better. I was really bummed out after hours of trial and error

Flite_23 heres a tip in editing team gear colors use any player from the team you want to edit and manually set the color of his headband to match the jersey then save the roster find the player and his headband color in appearance.dbf then paste the numbers in teamgears.dbf's primary color to have the head band and accessory color to match it.
Sorry for posting this here Jao just wanna help. . .
Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:52 am
haha, well my goal for this lighting is to get rid of that "shading" around the outlines of the players. i haven't achieved that yet but Ill work on it more today.
you were right, the location.dbf is just the stadium names, thats pretty much it haha. as for the teamgear, im alright at it, but nothing special. Ill take a look at 05's and compare it to 07's and see what happens.
But for right now, I PMed frenchy asking permission but Ill download that roster later and start up on it. Then I also want to get that lighting done and Im still waiting on c0nr4d to get back to me.
EDIT
And you guys, dont worry about posting in here

Im more worried about making this game better than posting in the correct thread,

Thanks Flite for all of those explanations. I'm not impatient, I realize things take time. I'm excited for all of the new ratings that will come out. It's tough as a Knick fan not to be able to utilize David Lee!
I already asked RSox how to convert the tats, but he said it would be too difficult to explain to a non-experienced patcher like myself. I know that's a "minor" thing, but in a visual game like NBA Live, it's just an added detail that adds some realism.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 1:57 am
RJHNY1, do you think you could try just downloading one of el badmans tattoo patches, putting it into your SGSM, then seeing if it worked?
I wanna find out but as I said I'm going through getting all the needed updates before re-installing Live.
If you want, I will do the Warriors and Knicks next for my roster and release that so you can use Deron Williams (Utah is complete), Monta and David Lee properly, along with having 6 teams fully re-rated.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 2:27 am
Nah Flite. I'm not going to interfere with your work.
I stated those two as examples. Like I said, I'm patient. Take your time and do your thing. When it's released, it's released.
Just putting the tats from 07 to 05 won't work. RSox told me they needed to be converted.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 2:33 am
you cant put it in just like that. . . in 06 and 07 arms and legs are in different .fsh not like in 05 where it is one. . . I can add the rest of the tattoos if you guys want but i need the approval of El Badman. . .

Jao, when you do the jerseys, I have a request.
http://www.nba.com/sixers/news/red_jerseys_070211.html
The 76ers now have red alternates.
Maybe you can do 06-07 home, road, red alt. AND leave the blue 04-05 alternate in the game (the more options, the better (why not?)).
Same thing with the Nets. Leave the grey alt in there as 04-05 while having 06-07 home, road, and red alt.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 3:51 am
when i do it I will be replacing the grey nets and the blue 76ers. personally I like those jerseys but I like the c0nr4d jerseys better. also when i do the jerseys i want to stay away from adding new jerseys.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:09 am
Oh ok, I thought it would be cool to have a whole selection of jerseys.
I think another set of jerseys to add for 06-07 is the Cavs orange retro. I don't think that's in 2005.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 5:00 am
hey , use Rsox's jersey patch as a base , that patch already have the red nets alt , but its the EA one , so just import the c0nr4d's buni .
Fri Mar 02, 2007 5:14 am
well remember, i havent even talked to conrad yet. but all i really wanted to do for this game was get it graphically on par with 07. I wanted to do it by updating the jerseys, updating the player models, updating the stadiums, and updating the lighting. Speaking of which....
Its a bad pic of it, ill try and get a better one but you get the idea. No more of that grey "shine" and a more contrasted look better for taking screenshots. I'd prob release two versions of this, 1 with the contrast look and another with a realistic look.
BTW Flite, I forget if I reverted back to the default lighting or not before I started work on it. Is it ok if I release this if i did end up using yours as a base?
Fri Mar 02, 2007 5:34 am
Sure Jao. Before I saw EAs lighting I was writing out the announcement post and I actually had down the bottom - "Anyone can take this and use it as a base to work on their own lighting".
I might grab my lighting file off of one of my backup disks and put up some previews anyway.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 5:39 am
Wow, that stadium's retired number banners are clear as day! In 2005, you could make it out, but not clearly.
I did download the stadium update, but haven't had the chance to play and really observe the stadium, the crowd, etc.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:35 am
Nicely done.
Fri Mar 02, 2007 10:14 am
2 more screens of the "contrast" version
Fri Mar 02, 2007 2:30 pm
"Philadelphia 76ers fans will have an opportunity to witness the "Return of the Red," as the Sixers unveil a new second road uniform with red as the predominant color accented by the
team's other official colors of white, blue, black, silver and gold."
that means that they had silver and gold jerseys too?

i never knew that...i may be wrong about that though...
Fri Mar 02, 2007 2:42 pm
i dont think they had gold or silver jerseys but they just have it in their logo
Sat Mar 03, 2007 4:05 am
Small error with the Knicks jersey. The Knicks logo on the shorts should be on the left shorts leg.
Mon Mar 05, 2007 3:30 pm
Hmm, I thought I already posted feedback on your lighting, maybe the post didn't go through.
Anyway, I think its great, but I can't see much else you could do to it to make it any better. Maybe increase the shine slightly, but thats about it. I basically like it how it is, great job
Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:06 pm
if you wanna modify it further and re-release it go right ahead man
Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:23 pm
I would, but judging by my last effort it would only take away from what you managed to make
Tue Mar 06, 2007 2:35 am
mmm nice jersey previews

that lighting makes em look crazy tho...and some of the necktypes are fucked too, we'll work on em
