Basketball Talk

Postby TRUball on Thu Aug 28, 2003 6:59 am

I made this thread because I didn't want to make new topics for little things so I made this so we can talk about anything about basketball. :) So... lets talk about basketball....

on my team there is gonna be about 18 people on it I think, atleast 15.... it sucks, good thing I am one of, if not the, best players on our team. But like so many of them aren't really gonna get any playing time, but it is not that they suck, it is just that everyone is so much better. like in my opinion, the starting line is set which is most likely me, 2 other guys my size, and than 2 guys in the 5'9-6'0" range and in this one tournament we had this year which was like one to get us ready for it our starting line-up played to whole game cept 11 seconds when we clinched it so our coach took us out. cept the center and the pf were different people who one moved away and the other plays hockey. but the 2 people that I said would be in the starting line-up are just as good.

yes 18 cause on the bantom team(gr. 8 team) there not allowed to make cuts for some reason so if you tryout u make the team, unless you don't listin to coach, don't run, etc. like you can be the crappest player ever and still make the team  but next year for the junior team(gr.9-10) you have to be good to make the team.

good job. I've hit those(3m out) 3's alot whenever I playing around, don't take em in games, though... lol so you only hit one 2 pointer.

I know I hate that when you miss lay-ups, like I'll drive by my man and have an easy lay-up and I'll lay it off the back-board wrong and it bounces around on the rim and misses :x

i love this thread. haha.. whats your guys' greatest shooting streak? we were scrimming.. and i nailed a 3 pointer.. and the guy told me to take another one and he bet me i couldnt make it.. but i did.. at that point everyone was so into it because i'm not really a 3 point shooter.. next trip down the court.. i pull up infront of man and hit another 3.. after that.. my man started playing me properly.. but since i was on such a roll i tried it again.. this time he raised both hands so it would've been so much tougher for me.. anyways i nailed my 4th trey and everyone erupted and was givin me propz.. it was great.. haha. i stop hitting threes after that but i nailed consecutive jumpers and layups after that.. i was on fire that night.. i probably finished w/ 35-40 points that night

One time I was playing this away game, I had the ball and I was like 1 meter away from the 3-point line, till I hear someone yell "SHOOT IT"...so I tought 1 of my teammates said that so I threw it, then I hear " HAHAHA...HE SHOOTS IT" from the other teams bench...then, SWISHHH.....that one shut him down. Then after the play, the other team missed a shot, I had the rebound...I dribble to the same position where I made the 3-pointer....Shoot another one and goes SWISHH once again.....and ofcourse I made the "shhhhhh" sign to the bench lol :P

lol. my greatest shooting streak.... uh.... well this one time in the begining of the game I got the ball looked around pulled up for a 3, swish. Next time down the court I crossed my man up hit an off-balance kinda fadeaway. Next time I backing my man down(i've told u guys about this) than I fake one way than do a turnaround fadeaway, swish and the foul. hit the free throw. Next 2 times down the court I just shot over my opponent. than the last time down the court I drove by my defender and got a lay-up. than subs cause it was the town league so there is subs every 4 minutes. But that was 14 points in 4 minutes(y), plus the other team only scored 4 points in that four minutes we were playing good defence.

any of you guys ever done 3-point shooting contest? I haven't done an official one but I do them wit my friends(won always). What we did as take 20 3's. 4 from each spot, and the spots are thsoe in the NBA 3-point shoot-out. I got like 13/20 or something and I won by atleast 3, i can't remember though....

:P sucker. lol. I'm pretty good 3-point shooter. It strange about maybe 4 years ago, that I could bearly hit the rim on 3's but than the next year I hit like 6 in a row from the corner in pratice and I was like,"dam...I'm good" lol....But I don't know how I went from bearly hitting from rim to swishing then contiunally....I didn't pratice them in the summer, I didn't work out to get stronger, I did nothing, but than I started hitting them easily... must be natural talent I guess :D

LOL

I always block people taller than me, I once blocked a kid who was about 5'10 or something when I was like 5 feet, or 5'1 or something. Than he was so mad he threw the ball at my head. It was funny, he was like spazing and trying to burn me 4 the rest of the game, but he didn't but he did post me up because he was like 10 inches taller than me....

Sometimes I hate playing outside at my moms house because we live in like a complex and my mom parks away from our house so I can play ball but our neighbors park right in front of there house but ya so like when I am taking free throws, I have to shoot wit pressure of making em, cause if I don't and they bounce off the rim, the ball can easily hit the neighbor's car's. So Like sometimes I won't take 3's cause if it hits off side rim...and hits the cars... well ya...it hit one once but luckily they had like a crappy car and they didn't care, but new people moved in and they got like this new sliver cars and there really nice so I don't want it to hit them....so like right after I shoot I crash the boards to get the rebound before it goes off to hit them, so like when i take freethrows right when i shoot I quickly run up to get the rebound before it even goes in or whatever, I know there is a rule to not go over the line till it hits rim but...I don't want it to hit the cars.... but I guess it is good rebounding practices which I need as that is probably my weakest part of my game.... but when they gone from home and no cars are around I can freely take and be confindent of every shot I take :)

Hey, it seems you don't have a lot of confidence in your freethrows. Playing at your mom's might improve your freethrow shooting, eh?

I do, it is just cause I know I can't make everyone, if I shoot with the little bit of feeling it might miss I go running up to get it, but most of the time it will still go in. But I like it kinda cause I am shooting wit pressure. But even if it still goes in, my base of my net sticks out kinda and when it goes it sometimes it hits that... so... ya even if it goes in....

I have only been fouled out of games, never ejected...I think I only got 1 tech in my life....

When I was playing ball today at my house, I measured out that 4 and a half of my feet was 4' so I measured out 8 feet from NBA three point line, and where I was, was 31'9" feet from the basket, well I than took a few steps back than took a little walk and fired...swish, from 31'9", i than got the ball again and shot again from there, hit back rim than front rim and in. I couldn't believe it! Than I found out where 28 feet was I was shooting those easily, and I found out now I can shoot high school 3 flat footed, and I bearly have to us much power to shoot from NBA 3, I don't know what happened... just felt stronger... but I didn't do anything and I was hitting 3's with so much ease today, even easier than I did before, I hope I can stay shooting like this. :D

I hogged most oif the game though.,.. only got 5 assists... our team scored 63, 61 of which were by me and my mate... we lost by 27 tho..
