Information regarding the Charlotte Bobcats

Sun Aug 31, 2003 2:36 pm

The latest information I've received:

As we know, the Bobcats will be included in NBA Live 2004 although they don't enter the real NBA until the 2004/2005 season. However, they won't be playable in Dynasty, Season and Playoff Mode.

EDIT:

CORRECTION: It's not guaranteed that we can put the Bobcats in Dynasty/Season/Playoff Mode through DBF editing. I mis-read the email, I apologise for the error. Needless to say, I'll give it a shot when I get my hands on the game.

Aww.....that sucks.... but there is always those patchers to add them like you said. But this sucks for console users.

I've also been informed that with a little bit of DBF editing, we should be able to add them to Dynasty, Season and Playoff Mode. But out of the box, they'll be an Exhibition only team

AWESOME NEWS! Little Perks like this is why I love the PC version. Thanks Andrew.

I guess you have to put a team together (similar the old custom teams) before you can use the Bobcats.

Awww they just like giving us console gamers half the fun while the pc guys get all of it. EA show us xboxers some love make it a code or something, Man!

One

I think Bobcats will be filled with no-name players such as

Bobcat1
Bobcat2... and so on

Sun Aug 31, 2003 8:28 pm

Perhaps. My guess is that the roster will be empty, and you will be able to select players from other teams.

gee this Bobcats idea is pretty halfbaked. we can't get them in dynasty but we can get them in exhibition mode -with an empty roster ofcourse
I hope at least that when we do add players to the Bobcats roster it won't just duplicate the players i.e adding Tim Duncan would mean that "Tim Duncan1" is on the roster.

I know this is all easy to fix with a little dbf editing, but why does it always end up that way :|

hehe come on, its about time having an advantage as a pc gamer for once. ie. we didn't get nba live 2002 but yeh....

anyways, i think it'll just be like normal trades or signings. from one team to the other. :?

yes it is quite dissapointing, but the Charlotte Bobcats team isnt a franchise quite just yet, so really they cant have em in dynasty.
with legal stuff and that i spose
just like they cant add rookies who arent signed with a team yet

Sun Aug 31, 2003 11:04 pm

It would have been great fun for them to be in the Dynasty mode cause you would truely be able to build a team from scratch i so badly wana get my hands on my own Bryant Reeves  .

in live2003 didn't they add a few unsigned rooks into free-agency as well as a bunch of free agents who hadn't signed (and some that didn't sign: mitch richmond?pat ewing? isiah rider!?)

some rooks in 2003 freeagent list: rod grizzard, efthimios rentzias, nick sheppard etc.

I'm not aking them to fake a roster, but locking it from a dynasty-expansion option is disapointing

will their jersey and court be fiction ones? or are they the ones Bobcats are gonna use next year?

Mon Sep 01, 2003 4:05 am

I wonder what the team will be cause in this screenshot:

it says the team's rank is 19th... so does that mean they made a team for them.. or what?

Mon Sep 01, 2003 11:08 am

i'm more worried from that screen shot that the Suns are ranked 21st

I hope you can do it Andrew....

I know someone will put them into the dynasty mode... I don't think EA will go out of it's way to stop something like this from happening.

And about the screen shot... How can Suns be #21??? That is just dumb, unless they've lost Marbury, Marion and Amare to the Bobcats franchise... And an expansion team ranked 19th, well that would be the day.

It would be nice to see a better PC version in a while... We didn't have 2002 and 2003 had the awful console user interface. It could have been so much better.

Well, this is a setback, but we'll bounce back.

I agree, unless they take out the option to dbf edit, but they wouldn't do that as wouldn't that make patching impossible?

True.... but they are probably still choosing on the ranks, and just like little graphics, they can change it at the end. Can't they?

Yes it would... cause unless I can cough up $300 I not getting any of those consoles any time soon....

Well, this is a setback, but we'll bounce back.

You got that right (Y)

When was the last time an NBA Live game had accurate ratings?......Never? I thought so.

Tue Sep 02, 2003 6:36 am

that's a fact, in all the lives i played philly has never been ranked quite correct(not even philly when they played the finals against LA they still werent a top 15 team  , did that with updated rosters)always too low, thats just too low, if they rank'em this year around the 20th spot i can understand but the rankings just depend too much on the overall ratings of the players, philly basically has ai and thats why they are so low, same with the suns, they have three stars but thats about it(maybe four if u count hardaway), but their bench isn't deep enough in LIVE too get high rankings, while in real life those four play significant minutes, i think the starting five should have more of an impact together with chemistry on the team rankings(look at detroit,no real stars but really solid team), also the spurs were misplaced too in '99 i believe, so i learned to live with those rankings
