Boykins signed as backup point guard

The Warriors signed a Cleveland native who is a point guard on Wednesday.
It wasn't Steve Logan.
Earl Boykins, all of 5-foot-5, is the latest player to try to nail down the reserve role behind starter Gilbert Arenas. His addition comes a day after the Warriors waived A.J. Guyton, who had been competing with Dean Oliver for minutes.
Boykins was not with an NBA team during training camp and had been working out in Cleveland, where Logan, the Warriors' unsigned second-round pick, also has spent time recently while rehabilitating a sprained right foot.
"I feel I can bring stability at the point-guard position," said Boykins, who averaged 4.1 points and 2.1 assists in 68 games with the Clippers last season, his fourth in the league. "Gilbert is playing a lot of minutes and it's only natural that he would tire out during the course of the year. I feel I can bring solid play as a backup."
Golden State acquired Boykins after having internal discussions about a few free agents, including former Warrior Randy Livingston and 12-year veteran George McCloud, who has limited experience at point guard and is best known for his perimeter shooting.
Boykins, whose 3.3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio would have ranked 16th in the league last season had he qualified, gives the Warriors a pure point guard to run the offense and attempt to ignite the fastbreak.
"The one thing with Earl is he can change the complexion of the game," coach Eric Musselman said before Wednesday's game against the Houston Rockets. "He's a tempo-changer. It's good to have a guy that if you're down, a team can go on a quick spurt with him in the game."
Defensively, however, Boykins is susceptible to post-ups because of his size. Musselman has been reluctant to use the 5-11 Oliver against teams with big backcourts.
"If a team is going to post up its second-team point guard," Musselman said,
"that's probably a good option for us."
Boykins played for Cal coach Ben Braun at Eastern Michigan from 1994-96. He had stints with New Jersey, Cleveland and Orlando during a 126-game career before catching on with the Clippers in September 2000.
BEEN AROUND A LITTLE: Houston rookie Juaquin Hawkins, 29, a former Harlem Globetrotter, started in place of shooting guard Cuttino Mobley, who is on the injured list with a sprained left ankle. Hawkins' resume includes stops in Taiwan, China, Japan, the Philippines and three U.S. minor leagues.

Boykins scored 16 of his 20 points during a furious second-half comeback as the Golden State Warriors rallied from a 21-point deficit for a 92-82 victory over the Nuggets.
add 7 steals too
cant see warriors games overhere but I wanna see if he can do half of this on constant basis. Maybe a small lineup to run and remember the TMC? Boykins, Arenas, Richardson, Jamison, Damp
Would be hard to defend big backcourts but would score 60 fastbreak points per game
We always have Jiri, Folye, Dunleavy Murphy if we r looking for bigger guys, and Fortson in case we r being outrebounded (nyway i think the warriors r the best rebounding team in last years -of course maybe coz we miss too much -)

Arenas is surprising me, I had doubts in the back of my mind if he could run a team effectively...
J-Rich is shooting Iverson-like %...
Jamison won't improve more than he had... He has a B for career development...
Murphy's a keeper... Just that...
Dampier... The deal with him is if he can stay heathly... I dunno...
