Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

There really needs to be real NBA salaries in the dynasty mode for NBA Live 2004. Madden NFL has it and the NBA player salaries aren't hard to find, cause i could just go to Hoopshype.com look under salaries and see all the player salaries from the NBA. They should also have a top 25 higest played players so we could see if our franchise player salary is where we want it to be. This would make the experience much more realistic than the stupid point system, cause who wants to pay a play 300,000 points witha salary cap of 1million plus. Ya heards me!

This has been talked about lots, but...
I agree, even if there isn't, you can always edit the salary.ini thing. but if you are console, than you better hope for it, and I have a feeling that real salaries are going to be in this year....

there won't be real money in 2004... it will be a point system...
that's what i've heard anyway.
i agree with you though, adding real money can't be that hard for EA, and it would probebly help a little to the realism-factor...
and about changing it for yorself, it's not a verry good idea, it messes up the whole point-calculations and such that is already in the game...

there was patches for changing salary in live 2001. and it worked fine....

My question is, does having a point system means that we again get unrealistic signings of minimum contracts every year and no signing to need and every player demanding the max contract(there should be negotiations and stuff), cuz if this is true, then dynasty will be one big flop

Thats if they don't use real money(Then the dynasty mode may! be not a flop but! not as good as it could be), no one knows for sure yet if they are or aren't going to use real NBA salaries. I mean NHL 2003 had a point system last year but this year they have real NHL player salaries, and NBA Live and NHL are both made by EA canada so maybe they will do the same things to both products, cause NHL's franchise mode also switched it's name to Dynasty mode, it's a good sign so far.

Superstarts sining minimum contracts issue is disturbing
But I dont think it's that tightly related to having a point system rather than a real dollar salaries.
It's rather the A.I.
Since they are improving the dynasty mode, it's just hope they have rebuilt or improved the previous signing mechanisms

NHL series has never had anytype of points system. The fact why it hasn't had one is the reason they have no salary caps and thus they don't have to keep the payroll in check. NHL series has never even had options to decide how long you will want to sign someone. This all will change and so will rules in the NHL. Come next fall, the NHL could have a salary cap rules in effect too to keep the team salaries in check and help some of the smaller teams stick with it.
This year the salaries are there for profit purposes as you are graded according to the profit margins you get for your owners. The NHL too will have the ticket prices, paraphenelia selling etc. in it as does Madden so it is also a good sign for Live.
I think and hope it will be a real salary system...
(NBA Live 2001 fix for the salary.ini worked some times. I only once succeeded to patch it right. It was usually that either the cap or the player salaries didn't move... And I think all of you can see the problem there.)

madden has it and let me tell you, the the whole contract money thing is perfect. I have the choice of years, salary, and signing bonuses in real money. Im currently playing a 49ers frachise and im 6-2 with a profit of 350 k.......which means everything is payed for salaries, stadium maintnance, food etc. And i have salary cap for the summer 2 resign key players. I hope live has this, i more of a basketball fan, and after seeing how the franchise for madden and nhl are turning out, i only think live will be just as good. 1

It's not about having access to the information - EA cannot use real salaries in NBA Live due to legal reasons. Either there's a clause that prevents EA from using the real dollar amounts or the NBA is resisting giving them permission to use the real amounts for their own reasons.

But they used real salaries in NBA 2K3.
And since you can hire coaches(ft shooting coaches) you cant pay them by points.

andrew are you confirming that real salaries wont be in live?
Sun Aug 31, 2003 4:18 am
How can he confirm it. I know he knows things about live that we dont but he cant confirm it without EA's permission.
I think their will be.

No, I was just offering an explanation as to why real salaries haven't been used in the past. I don't know whether Dynasty Mode will use real salaries or not.

You're half-right. I'm only told things that I'm allowed to make public through the NLSC news and forum, so I don't have to seek permission to post what I do (as it's already granted).
But I haven't heard anything about player salaries.
