OK, I played a couple games with the latest version.
Pros:
- Love the new passes, especially the long range bounce pass
- Fast breaks are better than they have ever been in the break-less Live 05
- Blocking is great, harder more explosive blocks from longer ranges
- New crossovers take a while to get used to, but are really effective
- Higher air on dunks, all but the cock it back with one hand dunk looks great (not the dunk shown in your picture)
- Put back dunks are perfect
Cons:
- On fast breaks, if you press dunk to early the player will make an oddlooking hookshot/teardrop shot that usually goes in
- Dunking must be done from closer distances than in the past
- Blocking looks great, but they could be toned down a little in terms of how often a big block happens
- Very risky to pump fake if you are more than 2 or 3 feet from the 3 point arc, as the player will usually chuck up a teardrop type shot (the same shot used for full court desperation shots)
- The crossover that looks a bit like a stepback gets lost alot. I used Gilbert Arenas and had 4 turnovers using that move, he just dropped the ball
Suggestions:
- Take out the hookshot/teardrop like shot that banks in, it seems unrealistic and prevents alot of should be dunks (I think it is the same animation that was once the big man shot)
- Replace the full court toss with a normal jumpshot, or if you can, make a jumpshot happen anywhere out to half court. Half court or a greater distance - full court toss
- Fix the problem with good ballhandlers losing the ball on the stepback-like crossover move
- Fine tune the dunk packages to allow for more realistic dunking, eg. when a player is by themselves on a fast break, 90% of the time the basket will be a dunk (height/athleticism permitting, but for average dunkers that should happen). In that situation, most of the time my man would do the old big man jump shot animation.
Overall, great job. A few changes here and there and NBA Live 2005 should be considerably more realistic than any other version to date. Keep up the good work.
