This is a good read, not so sure I like that trade, i deffinately would have tried to get Daniel Gibson instead of Jones.

Jones Swapped for PG Lucas
With a dearth at point guard, Philadelphia traded away recently acquire F-C Dwayne Jones for coveted PG John Lucas III.
To Houston:

The 76ers pursued the guard in attempt to trade Andre Miller and Willie Green for Bonzi Wells and him but the Rockets' management would not budge on their demands of gaining a young power forward in a trade. Emptying out a increasingly crowded frontcourt, Jones will likely see minutes at a weak position for the Rockets, fronted by the aging Juwan Howard. In Lucas, the 76ers acquire another young poing guard with solid heads-up playmaking. Armed with more of a shooting touch than Brian Chase, Lucas is not quite his equal on defence given his slower footspeed. He will immediately see play as one of only three options at the one.

Mark, it might have been but given the second trade I think you'll agree getting Jones turned out to be a bit better than Gibson. As for Delfino, I felt like I cheated to get him so I was eager to get him off the team so really remove him from the equation when figuring out who got the better deal. I guess it also depends on Varejao's play to see if it was warranted but with Chase posting such great numbers and pretty good to play with, save his shooting, it became a lot easier to trade away Miller.
Also, thanks for a good post and I hope you keep them coming.

No Rabbit, Just Victory for Wizards

The city of brotherly love was loveless, save the rejoicing Wizards. Washington, 18-31 before tonight's game, took advantage of recent roster turbulence in Philadelphia and scored a 96-81 win. Samuel Dalembert led the 76ers with 14 points and 9 rebounds while Andre Iguodala had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Anderson Varejao, in only his second game with the team, had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. The hole at point guard was too big as Gilbert Arenas ran through, tallying 22 points and 6 rebounds in the first three quarters, leading his team to a 69-61 lead with 12 minutes left to play.
The Wizards started rolling immediately, with Arenas scoring a lay-up just three seconds into the quarter and rode that momentum to an 83-71 lead. Varejao recorded a double-double shortly thereafter, pulling down John Lucas III's missed field goal and proceeding to slam it down to get the last 2 points he'd score in the quarter. The 76ers play was fraught with poor decision-making. Still trying to sort out the point guard situation, no one was asserting themselves as playmaker, leading to a lowly 13 assists in the game. The game churned on slowly for the 76ers, fittingly ending on a meaningless bricked Iguodala field goal as time expired. Though Philadelphia did have few nice stat lines, their inability to come together led to their demise. Rebounding was outstanding, as a positive aside, with Dalembert and Varejao topping 10 and Iguodala settling for 9 rebounds, 15 points and 3 assists. Brian Chase again performed admirably, though not on the defensive end as hoped, finishing with 16 points and 4 rebounds, but allowing Player of the Game Arenas to help himself to 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 8 assists. Newcomer John Lucas III netted 4 points, though he was 0-of-5 from the field, and had 2 assists and 2 steals. For the Wizards, Brendan Haywood was a defensive monster, swatting 6 shots and pilfering 2. Antawn Jamison doubled up nicely with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while fellow starters Caron Butler and DeShawn Stevenson recorded 20 and 15 points, respectively. The 76ers will get a reprieve from losing as the All-Star Weekend is upon us. The next game will be February 21 against the 21-33 New York Knicks.

Green Hits Game Winner as Shot Clock Expires
New York 99 | Philadelphia 102
February 21
The 21-33 Knicks came to Philadelphia to start the second half of the season and if this game can be used as an indicator of things to come, there will many spectacular finishes and victories for the 76ers. Trailing 74-70 after three quarters, Philly organized a very balanced attack, with eight different players connecting for field goals in the final frame. On top of that, the 76ers would end the game with six players in double figures and another three players stuck at 8 points a piece. The momentum swung back and forth, as did the lead, all the way up to Eddy Curry dunking a rebound after a missed Stephon Marbury lay-up to give the Knicks a 99-97 lead with 1:11 to play. Pushing it downcourt, Rodney Carney manoeuvered his way to the hoop and threw down a vicious dunk to tie the game up. Marbury, an unstoppable force in the fourth, proceeded to miss a field goal and Brian Chase grabbed the rebound and fed it to the wing. Hoping to take more time off the clock, the 76ers passed the ball around, only to have Starbury pick off Carney's pass with 24 seconds left on the clock. After a timeout, Marbury brought the ball up court and slowed down the pace before spotting an open Eddy Curry just outside of the paint with slightly under 10 seconds left. Curry held fast, taking precious seconds off the clock, before making a charge to the basket for a dunk. Out of nowhere, Steven Hunter emerges and swats the ball clear out of Curry's hands and Chase recovers and signals for a quick timeout with 2 seconds remaining. With just one shot left, the ball was inbounded to Willie Green who found a slight opening and arced a three-pointer which swished for the victory as the buzzer sounded. In spite of losing, Marbury was named the Player of the Game with 29 points, 13 assists and 3 steals. After adding 6 points and 6 rebounds, Curry finished with a monstrous 14 points and 15 rebounds, while frontcourt mate Channing Frye quietly recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. The victorious home team was led by Andre Iguodala's 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Both point guards Chase and John Lucas III recorded in the double-digits for points. WIllie Green ended with 10 points, scoring 9 of them in the last quarter on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc. Dalembert missed out on a double-double by 2 rebounds but had 13 points and 5 swats. The 76ers finally leave Philly, heading South to battle Charlotte on February 23 and Milwaukee the next night.

After starting off the second portion of the season with a victory the 76ers took their show on the road only to find themselves not the talent they thought they were. While six players reached double-digits in scoring against the 20-35 Charlotte Bobcats, Samuel Dalembert led the way with just 17 points. Anderson Varejao rocked the boards ripping down 17 in total, but contributed just 3 points. Andre Iguodala had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4assists and 4 blocks in the loss. Player of the Game distinctions were a toss up, ultimately going to Gerald Wallace for posting 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. He narrowly edged out rookie Adam Morrison who had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Primoz Brezec led all scorers with 24 points.
Against the 26-31 Milwaukee Bucks the 76ers look a lot like a deer in headlights. Kyle Korver netted 22 points including 4-of-8 shooting from three-point territory, but aside from his offensive production and Iggy's 19 points only one other player, surpassed 8 points. AI2's line ended in 19 points but he also had 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks to his credit. Dalembert racked up a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, along with his 2 blocks. All five starters for the Bucks reached double figures and while Bobby Simmons finished with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks, he was surpassed for Player of the Game honours by Charlie Villanueva and his 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, a block and a steal. Andrew Bogut posted 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks.
The losses drop Philadelphia to the bottom of the East with a 20-36 record, only better than the SuperSonics. Philadelphia looks for a win next against the Sacramento Kings, who have struggled to a 24-31 record, back home in the City of Brotherly Love in two days time.

Whoa im really liking Iggy's numbers, no wonder he was invited to the All Star weekend, lets see him maybe get some more shots His defensive numbers ae great too, he could be an early candidate for DPOY.

Iggy has been fantastic and he's started hitting three pointers in the fourth quarters now (finally figured it out). Oh, that's another set of stats I should post. Lucas is looking good, I feel better than Gibson would and certainly he will challenge for the starting spot. As for more roster moves, the trade deadline was a day after the Knicks game so not until the offseason, which I very much cannot wait for.

The Kings came to Philadelphia and added to the 76ers losses column in a resounding 117-102 defeat. Fresh off a two-loss road trip that only lasted two games, Andre Iguodala and his squad hoped to pick up where they left off in a win against the Knicks; instead, their even play was met with an insurmountable offensive force in the Kings. Jumping to an 86-78 lead after three quarters on 21 points by Kevin Martin and 19 points and 8 rebounds by Brad Miller, the Kings ran by the 76ers, running up the score and leaving the home team desperately trying to avoid humiliation. Brian Chase led the team in points with 19 after three quarters, but had a single assist. Kyle Korver managed 15 points and a team high 5 assists.
The Kings went on an immediate 15-3 run peppered with turnovers, mistakes and good defensive play by Ron Artest. Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who had just 4 points and 7 rebounds in the firs three quarters, dominated Anderson Varejao on the block, recording 6 point and 7 rebounds in the final frame. While the 76ers struggled mightily, they did shoot 5-of-7 from three point range, including two treys by the recently added John Lucas III, who ended the game with 10 points. Finally discovering some semblence of a shooting touch should go a long way in helping the team perform better, so long as they can limit mistakes and shore up the defence. In the end, Martin earned Player of the Game rights with a game-high 27 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Artest also exploded in the fourth to finish the game with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots. For Philly, Samuel Dalembert continued to put together a string of well played games, tallying yet another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Andre Iguodala ended the game with 4 steals and 2 blocks, but managed just 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, and 3 rebounds. The next game will be quite a challenge as the 20-37 76ers host the 40-17 Phoenix Suns in two days.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who had just 4 points and 7 rebounds in the firs three quarters, dominated Anderson Varejao on the block, recording 6 point and 7 rebounds in the final frame. While the 76ers struggled mightily, they did shoot 5-of-7 from three point range, including two treys by the recently added John Lucas III, who ended the game with 10 points. Finally discovering some semblence of a shooting touch should go a long way in helping the team perform better, so long as they can limit mistakes and shore up the defence. In the end, Martin earned Player of the Game rights with a game-high 27 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Artest also exploded in the fourth to finish the game with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots. For Philly, Samuel Dalembert continued to put together a string of well played games, tallying yet another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Andre Iguodala ended the game with 4 steals and 2 blocks, but managed just 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, and 3 rebounds. The next game will be quite a challenge as the 20-37 76ers host the 40-17 Phoenix Suns in two days.

Philadelphia played remarkably well but fell short in an attempt to knock off the Suns. Up 83-76 on Willie Green's 23 points and 5 assists and Rodney Carney's 16 points, the 76ers appeared poised to pull off the upset. Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash led the Suns with 20 points and 14 rebounds and 16 points and 9 assists, respectively, after three quarters.
The fourth quarter begain with a Suns run to take a one point lead. Finding themselves on the losing end, the 76ers employed a more athletic and defensive line-up Andre Iguodala was moved to shooting guard opening up the small forward position for Rodney Carney and kept them competitive and leading to frequent one-point lead changes till there was just 2 minutes left. After Shawn Marion connected from the field to give Phoenix a 101-99 lead, Boris Diaw picked off a Carney pass and threw it up to Marion for the dunk. A couple of missed shots later, Iguodala stripped Stoudemire after rebounding a missed John Lucas III trey and Anderson Varejao picked up the ball. Iguodala then was fouled on a dunk and hit one free throw. Barbosa then hit a three-pointer to give the Suns a 106-100 lead and the 76ers could not overcome it. Stoudemire led the team with 26 points and 22 rebounds, 8 coming in the final quarter, and was named Player of the Game. Nash ended up with 10 assists and a double-double. Wow, great idea starting in the middle of the season. This is a really enjoyable dynasty. I love the fair, realistic trades. You should post the standings. See just how much of a playoff long shot your team is.

Thanks Lamrock13. I want to post the standings, but I find it very aggravating to have to save pictures/update it every time. Also, I seem to struggle to make the file not too large in Paint. As long everyone doesn't mind me not updating the standings as often, I'd be up for giving it a go.

Jing, if you can tell me how to fix it so players' jerseys and bodies aren't as they appear in your post, please do let me know how. That's the what you get with a poor quality video card. Technically, I don't even think the game is supposed to run on my system, but it does, and while graphics can get annoying sometimes, they don't affect gameplay so I am happy.

As I explained to Jing it is something with my computer I think and if someone could give me suggestions as to what I could do to fix it, I'd be open-eared. With the trade dealine passed I won't be making any more moves this regular season. As for the suggested players, I doubt LA would part with Bynum and ditto for Seattle and Swift. Cook would be an interesting option and someone who might be expendable for the right price for the Lakers.

Okay, if someone has a fix for the poor graphics of my game, let me know rather than telling me what's obviously wrong. The only solutions to this problem are (a) I stop posting pictures (b ) People don't comment on how crappy they come out (c) Someone tells me how to make this game look as it should. I think (c) is the best answer for us all so someone lend a helping hand!

Sixers Win in Stunning Comeback Over Grizz

In one, if not the, most exciting games in Philadelphia, the 76ers came back from a 14 point deficit in the fourth quarter to overcome the 25-34 Memphis Grizzlies. Trailing 69-61 going into the fourth, with Samuel Dalembert holding fast with 14 points and 5 fouls, he began the quarter on the bench in favour of the foul-trouble-free Steven Hunter. Within 4 seconds, he was joined by a lacklustre Andre Iguodala, who had just 3 points on 1-of-10 shooting to accompany his 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks, as he picked up his fifth. Attempting to go with a more athletic line-up, Rondney Carney replaced Willie Green as a starter, shifting Iggy over to shooting guard. Green played well off the bench with 13 points and 3 assists. With the two defensive players riding pine, along with an injured Anderson Varejao, the Grizzlies looked to put the game away early in the quarter, they jumped to a 79-65 lead with 8:30 to play before coach Maurice Cheeks decided to test the Sixers ability to play foul-free basketball, inserting Iguodala and Dalembert back in the game for Kyle Korver and Hunter; but the most unsung addition to the floor was Shavlik Randolph, who had 3 points and 6 rebounds up to that point. While Randolph missed his first lay-up attempt and allowed Hakim Warrick to pull down a plethora of offensive rebounds, he played inspired workhorse basketball and it showed.
Still trailing by 14, Randolph tipped a pass by Damon Stoudamire to Green and when the ball was not converted and brought back with Stoudamire running away on the fast break, Randolph leaped over top and rejected the lay-up, drawing screams from the crowd. On the very next play, Warrick came down with an offensive board and went up for the easy dunk but Randolph came up and swatted the ball out of his hands, leading to a Carney dunk downcourt. Fired up, the Sixers were set back by Dalembert picking up his sixth foul, leaving the two starting big men on the bench and unplayable. No fear though, as Randolph proceeded to hit a field goal then stop another Stoudamire pass to Iguodala who fed it back to Randolph for the dunk and one, which cut the lead to 8 with under 5 minutes in regulation. After trading field goals for a couple of minutes, Eddie Jones picked up his sixth foul on Andre Iguodala, who converted his first free throw with 41 seconds left on the clock but bricked his second and in a crowd of Pau Gasol and Warrick, who finished with 9 and 14 rebounds, respectively, Shavlik Randolph emerged with the ball and slammed it back down to cut the lead to 3. Going back the other way, Gasol found himself challenged to put the game away and missed a lay-up and Iguodala came down with the ball and immediately signalled for a time out. With Korver on the wing and a proven shooter, the 76ers were unphased the task of needing a three to tie. Philly struggled to find the shot they wanted and almost lost possession as a pass hit off Mike Miller and out of bound with 12 seconds on the clock. On the inbound, Korver set himself up at the top of the three point line and fired a shot, which, as so many of his have, hit the rim and bounced out. Again, the unsung hero, Randolph, pulled down the rebound and threw it out to point guard John Lucas III who drew back and fired the trey, tying the game with under a second on the clock, forcing an overtime.
In overtime, it was determined that Varejao could return and replaced Hunter, while Green came in in place of the disappointing Korver. Memplis drew first blood, but another Lucas three-pointer off another Randolph pass gave the 76ers their first lead in a long time. After trading a pair of shots, and finding themselves up 98-96, the Sixers found Varejao who hit a shot from outside the key to give the Sixers a 4-point lead. After another pair of field goals from both teams, Randolph tipped another Stoudamire pass, Lucas picked it up and ran down court for the open lay-up. With less that 40 seconds to play, and now with Rudy Gay fouled out, the Grizz began fouling, only to have 8 straight free throws converted, four by Lucas and another 4 by Iguodala. While Memphis added 9 points in the last minute, the Sixers had pulled too far away to worry about the loss. Warrick led the way for the Grizzlies with 22 point sand 14 rebound, 7 offensive ones, while Gasol ended with 17 points and 3 blocks. Stoudamire had 15 points and 7 assists, but the ragged defence of Randolph led to 10 turnovers, 8 in the last two frames. While on paper Iguodala led the team and was rewarded with Player of the Game honours for his 19 point, 13 rebound, 5 assist, 4 steak and 2 block performance, notably 16 points and 6 rebounds in the last while all with five fouls, Shavlik Randolph was the heart of the team, finishing the game with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, 2 blocks and countless defensive stops. In Carney's second start of the season he posted 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals in 28 minutes. Another player quietly making waves, thus far the most impressive of the recent acquisitions, was John Lucas III who finished with 18 points, 14 of which came in the last 6 minutes of play. The 76ers host the 39-20 New Jersey Nets in two days time and having beat them earlier this season already, seem realistically hopeful for another win.

Trailing 84-76 going into the fourth, kept afloat by Andre Iguodala's 23 points, the Sixers knew their backs were against the wall. Cater led the Nets, who were without Nenad Krstic, with 18 points, followed closely by Krstic's replacement veteran Clifford Robinson and his 17.
The 76ers looked to close the gap early on by jumping off to a 17-9 run to tie the game at 93 capped with consecutive field goals by Rodney Carney. The Nets struck back, however, and led by Jason Kidd and Carter brought Jersey to a 109-100 lead. On two consecutive Sixers possessions Kidd pilfered the rock, once stripping John Lucas III and again on Steven Hunter. With the game in its dying moments, Kyle Korver hit a shot, somewhat of a rarity in the fourth quarters recently, to end a 4 minute scoring drought. Carter was named Player of the Game, finishing with 23 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Jason Kidd finished with 16 points, 10 in the final quarter, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals. Flying under the radar, Richard Jefferson ended with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the Nets. On the other stat sheet, Iggy finished with a game-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting and 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, and added 7 rebounds and 7 assists, 3 of each in a valiant effort in the fourth. Samuel Dalembert fell a point short of a double-double on a dismal 4-of-14 shooting. Only Korver and Lucas finished with double-digit scoring, adding 14 points each. The 76ers look to bounce back March 7 against the 16-44 Seattle SuperSonics in a battle of the worst teams in the NBA.

Outscored 33-9 in the final quarter, the Sixers looked listless and more like they belonged on a WNBA team. The game was that bad, save the first two possessions of the fourth quarter where Samuel Dalembert had back-to-back blocks, that this column will just remind you that there are box scores above. Luke Ridnour was named Player of the Game.
