November, 29th

The Hawks host the Charlotte Bobcats tonight in a game which is important for both teams. The Hawks could go pass the Bobcats in the Southeast Division while the Bobcats could increase the margin. The Hawks come off two losses in a row against the Wizards yesterday and the Magic 4 days ago. The Bobcats were able to overcome a 27 point performance by Vince Carter and won vs the Nets yesterday. Primoz Brezec was the high scoring man with 27 for the Cats. Brezec also declined rumours about him being dealt to another team. "This is completely false, (Brezec) will stay with us he just showed how important he is", Bernie Bickerstaff said. The Bobcats hope that they can find a way to defend Joe Johnson. He would not be the first to pour in many points against the Bobcats. Rip Hamilton had 33 in the Pistons´ win over Charlotte, Pierce scored 35 and then Carter´s 27 ....
Adam Morrison may have to defend JJ, but his offense might be more important. He is the number one contender for the "East Rookie Of The Month" scoring 16 points per game and leading the Cats in that category. The Bobcats will have to play without Brevin Knight and Melvin Ely. Knight is out with a sore thumb, Ely with a sprained elbow. Atlanta hope to win that one and make another step forward after two backwards and then start a winning spree in December. Tip-Off will be on 7:00 p.m. @Phillips Arena.

First of all good luck against Cats. It is the team you must win against.

I noticed that Zaza averaging only 5.3 PPG. Either he is so bad in the game or you don't use him very well. Hmm I guess his overall is pretty poor. In any case, try to use him more (Y)

Hawks play vigorous defense and win

Atlanta, Nov. 29th(AP) -- Speedy Claxton tallied 21 points and 9 assists to lead the Hawks past the Bobcats.

The Hawks have ended November with an important win over the Charlotte Bobcats and are at 6-7 now. Both teams played equally in the first half. Primoz Brezec again showed his worth and the reason why he won´t be traded scoring 16 points in the first half. Most Hawks players were cold and could not hit anything so they gave the ball to Joe Johnson who was able to finish with his jumpshot or around the rim. "It is a luxury to have such a player, he carried us through the first half were we simply did not play good basketball", Mike Woodson said. Johnson had 16 points and 5 assists to help the Hawks keeping the game tight, they were down 49-48.
In the second half Speedy Claxton started to heat up. He scored 12 points in the 3rd and also kicked it out several times for his teammates to have open shots. With Brevin Knight out the Bobcats lacked of a good perimetre defender although Raymond Felton was able to convince offensively with 18 points and 8 assists. The main problem the Bobcats had was their rebounding. Emeka Okafor did a great job and hustled down one board after another, but his teammates did not understand to use these 2nd chance opportunities and did not help him under the basket. The Hawks played it simply, running screens and scoring easy baskets whenever possible. Mike Woodson looked really contended with this "smart basketball" (Joe Johnson). The Hawks had a 16 point lead at the beginning of the 4th and made an excellent job defending the Bobcats. Although they seemed lightheaded at times when it came down to finish their opponents they were always able to control the game. Joe Johnson ended up with 25 points and 6 assists, Josh Smith added 12 and Marvin Williams 10.
For the Cats Emeka Okafor had 21 points and 19 rebounds, Adam Morrison added 16 and Gerald Wallace 10. "I think we played team basketball but the Hawks did a good job keeping us off the boards. We will meet again back-to-back in January and then we will see who wins these games.", Okafor said. The Hawks will host the Cavs as their next opponent in December. Stay tuned for the Monthly NBA.com recap.

Glad you won after those several poor performances... This time Joe Johnson got help from Speedy and some other players, but the same the problem still remains to get a second helping scorer, who could not only score, but do other useful shit like rebounding. I could take some much time for Marvin to improve and because you can't get anything good without giving something really good, it's a dead end... The only way I see to improve your team's gameplay is by pulling team chemistry up, I think that would help a lot. Well good luck in the next games Hova-...

I expected you to win. Well Bobcats has no depth at all, and in real life too, but their starters played well, especially Emeka, his points and rebounds were the things to keep bobcats alive in this game. Pretty weird 3rd and 4th quarters for you. I mean 37 and 12 points look like a day and a night.

Pursuer, Youre right with the inside thang. But I worked out a trade that would really help me and I think I might execute it at the end of the year since the player I want unfortunately got injured. Thx for your comment.

Marquis, thanks, Bobcats are really the easiest team to handle I think, at least so far. Well since I was hot in the 3rd I tried to play out the 24 seconds on almost every possesion, no fastbreak and no second chance point so. I always tend to do it since I hate to give up 100+ points in every game :)

So here is the recap for the first month of the NBA season 06/07, we will take a look at the stats leader, the top MVP candidates, the Players Of The Month and first of all, the standings. So let´s start with the

Image

Image

The Atlantic division is suprisingly led by the Philadelphia 76ers who were able to overcome the Allen Iverson trade and were able to achieve a 10-4 record. The Nets are also quite good with 8-6 while the Celtics are only at .500%. The Raptors and the Knicks lost contact.

Image

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the league. Thanks to LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas who lifted the Cavs to an amazing 14-1 record. Congratulations to the New York Knicks who managed to win against the Cavs. Detroit is quite good at .66% while the Bulls seem to struggle. Forget about Indiana and the Bucks.

Image

The Miami Heat bounced back from a weak start and Dwyane Wade´s numbers are getting better. Except the Heat this Division is the most exciting one next to the Pacific. The other four teams are very close together led by the Hawks. No one could find his rythm so long.

Image

Image

The Mavericks lead their division but the Rockets are close behind them. The Spurs did not convince yet and have to watch out that the Hornets will not go past them. Memphis is out of this one at the moment.

Image

The weakest Division with only the Nuggets above .500%. Utah and the T-Wolves started well but are on loosing streaks right now.

Image

Very strong Division with the Kings suprisingly leading the way. The Lakers are also were they want to be while the Suns are no really satisfying.

Image

Image

Here are the Player Of The Month November. Andrei Kirilenko was named Western Player Of The Month. His stellar defensive performance combined with his allround game and his scoring abilities helped him to get this award.
Chris Bosh earned the Eastern Player Of The Month award. He won the head-to-head race with Gilbert Arenas. His stats are awesome and say it all.
Brandon Roy got the Western Rookie Of The Month award. Roy made himself a name in the league after only one month with his athleticism and his offensive strenght.
Adam Morrison was named Eastern Rookie Of The Month. He lead all rookies in scoring and showed that he is the one who is most ready for the league. Now you know who is rocking the league but take a closer look at the individual stats to check out your favorite.

[Points Per Game][Rebounds Per Game][Blocks Per Game][Steals Per Game][Assists Per Game]

Let´s end the monthly recap with our MVP run to show you the best, hottest, dopest and most successfull players of the month.

Pretty good recap, especially the MVP candidate part... (Y)

Strange to see Philly and Cleveland doing so good, since they're not that good in real-life...

Where's Kobe??? :x

I think I would be lazy to make such a great recap. Thumbs up, man

The standings look pretty realistic with some exceptions. And nice to see Hawks 2nd in the southeast. Its too early to speak about playoffs, but I would really love to see you leading them to that..

Pursuer, thank you, really appreciated. Well, Philly was with AI half of the record, so I think since he rocks in live that is ok. Cleveland is simply amazing. They are on fire. Kobe is actually not that bad, 23 points 4 rebounds 5 assists I think.
I played the game vs the Lakers in mid December and I promise you, you will see Kobe in there :)

Marquis, Well I have holidays at the moment, but youre right. Since the only ones following are mates like you and some others I think it would be enough to make screens and stuff. I hope some others get interested that way. If not Ima handle it way easier. When school starts again I wont post very often anyway, I think you recognized that I was posting more lately than before. Playoffs would be cool, that is the main goal, getting this 8th seed. But it is a hard, rocky way. Since I played December already almost completely I have to say it is hard ;) (Yes, I have too much time, that is why I am playing a lot :P ) Thanks for following :)

BeByeMiS, Amare is really good. Also rebounding very well. I will play the Suns in January the first time, than you can see what he can bringt to the table.

A very difficult month expects the Atlanta Hawks in December. After hosting the best team of the league tomorrow, the Hawks will go on their first road trip. In their Western roadtrip they await the Blazers, Sonics, Nuggets (with AI), Lakers and the Kings before they will finally fly back to Atlanta playing against the Nuggets again.
"A very tough months lies in front of us and we all hope we can handle the stress. I think we could win about three or four games of this trip for sure. I mean, we´d love to win ´em all, that is why we go there, we wanna win ´em all", a good-humoured Joe Johnson said this morning after the coaching sessions. Johnson will be the main man when the Hawks visit superstars like Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant and Ray Allen. Fear? "Not really!" Sounds confident, but maybe a little bit cocky? "Don´t get me wrong. I have big respect for those players. (Iverson) is maybe the best pure scorer of the league, right next to (Bryant). And (Allen), man, he has the softest touch of the league. But I think we are strong enough. We have to prove our team defense on the road, I think that is the most important factor". And Johnson himself, what his goals are? He is kind of modest when it comes to his person. "I want to help my team to win as many games as possible. Especially on the road I want to bear responsibility". And what about game winning shots, we think of the season opener @Philadelphia. "Well I do think not it is that important to hit a winning shot, I prefer winning the games by a larger margin than one or two, three points ...... but actually Philly was quite cool .....", Johnson smiles and leaves the room .....

So what will the Hawks make out of this 15 games. Will they be successfull on their road trip? Or will this be the horror month?
Feel free to post what record the Hawks will manage in December. 15 games to play, 9 on the road. Good Luck !

Looking at your road record makes me wanna say you will be 5-10, but the latest performance wants me to say it's gonna be 7-8, but looking at the schedule makes me wanna say it's gonna be like 4-11... good luck in December man, I think it's gonna be tough...

There will be difficult month, thats for sure. I think you can win 6 or 7. But you never know. This month was like a horror for the hawks in real life, but I hope it won't be in your dynasty. Good luck

Great month recap !!!

Joe Jonhson its playing great !!! JJ 4 MVP

Good luck against the cavs

Ah... i was playing with the hawks and i discovered one great lineup

C: J.Smith
PF: M. Williams
SF: J. Childress
SG: J. Johnson
PG: S. Claxton

Try it , its a great lineup with great interior and exeterior deffense , and also smith at C shakes all the deffenders.

Pursuer, Thx, ye I think it will be quite tough, that is right. Especially the Cavs, I hate to play against them, they are fastbreaking like hell.

-km-, Bulls and Cavs are at home ;) the green ones are home and the blue ones away. Thx for your interest :)

Marquis, thx man, yes the Hawks really fell down in real life in December, its just a difficult month against those top teams.

Scorer--20, thx for your advice. I have to say I like Josh Smith at PF, C is maybe a bit too hard, since he is too small. But the main problem is Josh Childress. He just cannot shoot the ball well, I hate that. But Smith is really not bad under the basket, thx :)

At first I thought you're crazy about Smith in C, but later I remembered that D'Antoni put Diaw at C last season, so this doesn't look weird after all.

Just wanted to say that I decided to post Previews only against opponents I have not played before. Sorry, but I want to finish the season and I think this would be impossible with posting a preview for every game, since I just do not have that much time in the next weeks.

Hope you understand (maybe even dont mind :P ) this.

Not at all... I did such things in my first dynasties, but when I saw I had to play 82 games, I knew I had to work fast and hard, without making the shit I'm nearly the playoffs already... So good luck man!
