Darko and Beans should be a fun combination if you put them on together since they are both somewhat similar to one another. They can really cover a lot of ground in the paint with their length and shotblocking. (Y)

Edit: I just also wanted to point out that both are lefties... Just realized that.

Nuggets Boxscore
Warriors Boxscore

Pregame notes
Tonight, the Golden State Warriors face the Denver Nuggets in the Arena in Oakland. Both teams started the season above average by haven an 8-4 and 7-4 W/L statistic. The Nuggets who have improved this off-season with the acquisition of Joe Smith and J.R. Smith could be a tough matchup for the Warriors.

X-Factor of the night: J.R. Smith
He's a rough diamond which needs to be shaped said Greg Popovich once. And he is right. Smith has lots of talent but he is quite inconsistent and plays basketball not very intelligently. But when he has a night where everything is going he's basically unstoppable. He has a nice range and even nicer moves in order to drive to the lane. If he's hot tonight, I predict a loss for the Warriors.

Starting Lineup
Image

First Quarter
Unfortunately it seemed to be a night where J.R. Smith had the hot hand. The Shooting Guard scored 9 points in the first quarter while Power Forward Kenyon Martin added 14. The Nuggets led by as much as 10 in the first but the Warriors fought their way back to narrow the gap to two. The score is 33 - 31 for the Nuggets.

ImageImage

1 - Baron Davis over Earl Boykins
2 - Earl Boykins with the karate move and the offensive foul

Second Quarter
The second quarter seemed to be the complete opposite of the first. The Warriors played very confident and built an 11 point lead due to a nice performance by Mickael Pietrus. But the Nuggets, who were led by J.R. Smith, bounced back and lead by 1 at the end of the second. Half-time score 52 - 51.

ImageImage

1. Mike Miller slams one down
2. Smith tries to stop Milicic

Players at the half
J.R. Smith - 15 points - 2 assists
Baron Davis - 10 points - 3 assists - 2 steals

Halftime Report
It has been a back and forth so far where no team could gain a big lead. The Warriors play quite confident and especially Mickael Pietrus is convincing today. The Warriors defence was able to shut down Carmelo Anthony but J.R. Smith is feeling it tonight, scoring already 15 points in the first half. The Warriors will have to contain him in order to come away with the win.

Third Quarter
The third quarter was determined by numerous lead changes. No team was able to built a significant lead. While the Nugget's frontcourt played extremely well on the defensive end, the Warriors backcourt scored as consistant as usual. Nevertheless the Nuggets were lucky and are up 66 - 63 at the end of the third.

ImageImage

1 - Marcus Camby likes Zach Randolph
2 - Randolph for two

Fourth Quarter
The Nuggets played very aggressive in the fourth quarter and J.R. Smith was unstoppable. He completed several three point plays and hit shot after shot to give the Nuggets a small lead at the end of the fourth. The Warriors came close but the Nuggets were able to put the game away on the line to win it 104 - 96.

ImageImage

1 - Seats still under construction
2 - Darko Milicic with the showboard move

Image

Warrior of the Game - Baron Davis
21 points
1 rebound
9 assists
4 steals

Don Nelson's two cent's
"Well I don't think we should moan because of this loss. It is no big deal. We played well, we held Carmelo Anthony to little points. We rebounded, we distributed the ball but we didn't come away with the win. There will be several more games where this happens but I'd rather have them now than in the postseason.

I like the way Mickael is playing right now, he's grown into the starter role and contributes very well on both ends of the floor. Darko still has to get accustomed to defensive rotations so he can defend on his highest level. His offensive game is already there"

Nice breakdown, I changed my mind about Biedrins, kinda like him now ;)
Tough loss vs Denver, JR Smith did quite well, just like he does in real life, although he did not fire up silly threes and all these stuff. Keep it up (Y)

Shit... You lost... Better luck next time.

I like the fact you're giving Darko much time, I c he's improving... I think he should make a 20+ point performance soon enough...

Rockets Boxscore
Warriors Boxscore

Pregame notes
The Warriors face the Houston Rockets tonight to which they lost their season opener. Golden State is looking to rebound from a recent loss against the Denver Nuggets to come away with the win against a very strong team. With Shane Battier sidelined with a broken finger the Warriors may have an advantage over the Rockets.

X-Factor of the night: Andris Biedrins
Yao Ming is the key to Houston's success. This is why Biedrins and Milicic have to play their best defence in order to stop Yao Ming.

Starting Lineup
Image

First Quarter
It has been the story throughout the season as the Warriors are once again involved in a very close first quarter. They were able to contain Yao Ming but Tracy McGrady's ability to go to the line caused some trouble. The Warriors look focused and showed some nice plays throughout the first quarter. Zach Randolph hit a two just moments after the buzzer so the Rockets up 23 - 22 after the first.

ImageImage

1 - Biedrins vs. Ming at the tipp-off
2 - Zach Randolph at the line

Second Quarter
The Warriors started the second quarter with a run. Don Nelson decided to play Ryan Bowen instead of Rodney Carney and his defensive effort paid off immediately. Mike Millers outside scoring ability and the inside game of Darko Milicic gave the Warriors a big lead at the end of the second quarter. Warriors up 36 - 50.

ImageImage

1. Ryan Bowen draws the offensive foul
2. Darko Milicic blocks Tracy McGrady

Players at the half
Baron Davis - 8 points - 4 rebounds - 2 assists
Tracy McGrady - 13 points

Halftime Report
The Warriors finally stayed focused throughout two quarters and managed to hold off the Rocket's offense. Tracy McGrady scored as consistant as usual but the Warriors denied the other players any easy points. It finally seems that they are clicking on both ends of the floor. A main cause for the lead is the ability to draw offensive fouls which gave them several chances to extend their lead.

Third Quarter
The Rockets were able to bounce back by going on a nice run midway through the third quarter but the Warriors found their focus again and could hold them off. Yao Ming finally found his rythm on the offensive end to hep the Rockets to narrow the gap. Jason Richardson somehow had a cold streak tonight and Mike Miller stepped up for him. Warriors up 57 - 65 at the end of the third.

ImageImage

1 - Biedrins blocks Scott Padgett
2 - Miller hits the three over McGrady

Fourth Quarter 83 - 95
The Rockets worked hard but the Warriors even harder to restore their lead. With Jason Richardson sidelined, Mike Miller took over in the fourth quarter to hep the Warriors completing a 12 - 4 run. Davis, Miller and Milicic played very good on the defensive end to hold off all Rockets attempts to drive to the basket. Only Tracy McGrady caused some problems with his mid-range jumpers but that wasn't enough to come closer. Warriors win 83 - 95.

ImageImage

1 - Mike Miller intercepts the pass
2 - Darko Milicic blocks Bob Sura

Image

Rocket of the Game - Tracy McGrady
30 points

Don Nelson's two cent's
"Even with one of our main scorers having a cold streak our team manages to come away with the win. The scoring was well balanced, our frontcourt and our backcourt contributed very well. It's difficult to hold of a guy like Tracy McGrady, but allowing him no assist, no rebound and no steal is a great defensive effort by our team. We also held Yao Ming to a season low number of points which indicates the value Biedrins and Milicic have to our team. I'm very proud tonight, because we showed we can beat one of the leagues best teams."

Good win over the Rockets, it is difficult to play against them, thats what I noticed due following other´s dynasties.

PursuerThe Milicic vs T-Mac is not a block animation. Usually it is a foul, sometimes you end up with the ball without a foul ("Tough D")

Not essentially a foul. Sometimes when the opponent's player is jumping and your player too the camera suddenly turns around and you have the ball. In slow-motion you see your player blocking the shot and even the commentator says it but it's not counted. Same with blocking a shot and committing a foul - you block - you commit the foul - commentators say something like "Oh, his second rejection" but no block is recorded. Just some minor bug in this year's version.

Warriors win 102 - 86

Image
Hornets Boxscore
Warriors Boxscore

Pregame notes
The Warriors face the New Orleans Hornets tonight in their second matchup this season. The Hornets were able to win against the Warriors in their first game when Chris Paul had a stellar performance. Nevertheless, the sophomore Point Guard is sidelined with an injury tonight so the Warriors will have to deal with reserve Bobby Jackson.

X-Factor of the night: Peja Stojakovic
The serbian swingman can be a menace for the opposing team with his versatile style of play. He can drive to the basket but is also one of the NBA's purest shooters. The key to win this game is not allowing him open looks. Therefore the Warrior's best defenders are on him tonight.

Starting Lineup
Image

First Quarter
Hornets are aggressive, that's not only true for the world of insects but also for pro-basketball. With Chris Paul sidelined, Bobby Jackson showed his true value as he ran the offense beautifully. Jackson scored 12 points in the first quarter driving the Warrior's defence crazy. Jason Richardson has not left behind his cold-streak as he went 0-6 from the field in the first Quarter. Only the two big-men of the Warriors, Darko Milicic and Andris Biedrins, held the home team in the game. Hornets up 29 - 24.

ImageImage

1 - Zach Randolph with the jumper
2 - Pietrus with the lay-up

Second Quarter
The second quarter was a fight between the Hornets and the Warriors. Mike Miller, who came off the bench, was the key to stay in the game as he hit several shots and threes after passes from star-point-guard Baron Davis. Although the Warriors were not able to gain the lead the coach seemed to be very happy with the performance in the second quarter. The score: 45 - 42 Hornets.

ImageImage

1. Mike Miller with the open shot
2. This could be love...

Players at the half
16 points - Bobby Jackson
8 points, 2 rebounds ,5 assists, 2 steals - Baron Davi

Halftime Report
With Chris Paul sidelined due to an injury the Hornets are not less dangerous. Especially reserve Point Guard Bobby Jackson causes trouble. The Hornets dominated on the boards allowing the Warriors no second chance points in the first half.

Third Quarter
Jason Richardson finally found his rythm hitting his first couple of shots in the third quarter to open a nice run for the Warriors. Especially Baron Davis, Darko Milicic and Mike Miller showed how to dismantle the opponent's defence. Warriors up 72 - 65.

ImageImage

1 - Andris Biedrins blocks Bobby Jackson
2 - Jason Richardson dunks on Bobby Jackson

Fourth Quarter
The Warriors kept their rythm in the fourth quarter and extended their lead every minute. Jason Richardson scored all his 16 points in the second half to make a strong impact on the Warriors win. Baron Davis and Andris Biedrins played together beautifully to run the offense. The Hornets tried to come back but where immediatelly stopped in the paint by Darko Milicic and Andris Biedrins. Warriors won 102 - 86.

ImageImage

1 - Jason Richardson dunks in traffic
2 - Andris Biedrins with the flashy dunk

Image

Hornet of the Game - Bobby Jackson
27 points
1 rebound
3 assists

Don Nelson's two cent's
"Well despite facing our old problem the rebounding, we were able to stay in the game despite being outrebounded by as much as 14. Fortunately Jason Richardson found his rythm in the second half helped the team win this game. I'm happy with the offensive performances of our two big's. Combining for 28 points with scoring threats like Mike, Baron, Jason or Zach on the court is a nice effort. I'm glad we won the game but I have to say we were extremely lucky tonight."

Once again a good performance by Davis, he must be leader in assists per game??

BTW, you made a mistake, fix the opponents starting lineup picture, you put in Houston instead of New Orleans..

Yes, he's leading the league in assists. But I don't want to go into detail as the monthly recap should be added this week.

Clippers Boxscore
Warriors Boxscore

Pregame notes
The Warriors are facing the Los Angeles Clippers tonight in the second game of a back to back series. The Warriors who are on a nice run right now would like to extend their winning streak tonight at the Arena in Oakland. The Clippers on the other hand who struggled in the first weeks of the season are looking to find their rythm and pull themselves out of the dirt.

X-Factor of the night: Cuttino Mobley
Mobley is maybe the purest shooter on the Clippers. His shot from beyond the arc can be a threat in every game. If Mobley plays consistantly and shoots the ball well the Clippers are likely to come away with the win. Jason Richardson who will defend Mobley tonight may have an upside due to his speed. If he is able to contest his shots the Warriors may focus on more important duties.

Starting Lineup
Image

First Quarter
It seems that only the Warriors can stop the Warriors. Despite finishing the quarter leading 22-20 the team made several mistakes and denied themselves a bigger lead. Baron Davis played like a scoring John Stockton, recording several points and assists early in the first quarter. But bad shot selection made a bigger lead impossible and so, Sam Cassel and his Clippers made their way back from an 8 point deficit.

ImageImage

1 - Jason Richardson finishes on the Alley-Oop
2 - Baron Davis with the lay-up

Second Quarter
The Warriors decided to rest their starters the whole second quarter. The second squad, led by Darko Milicic and Mike Miller performed well out on the court increasing the lead to 8. But the Clippers fought back and tied the game at 38. But Ike Diogu played very well on the low post and gave the Warriors a 49 - 45 lead with a flashy dunk at half-time.

ImageImage

1. Darko Milicic blocks Elton Brand
2. Penny Hardaway at the line

Players at the half
10 pts, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal - Baron Davis
15 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists - Sam Cassel

Halftime Report
The Warriors are obviously the better team on the court but bad shot selection accompanied them through the first two quarters. Only the three big men, Darko Milicic, Zach Randolph and Ike Diogu managed to get open looks. The Warriors will have to work hard especially on the boards in order to win the game tonight.

Third Quarter
The thid quarter was a back and forth of lead changes and ties. Sam Cassel played very effective, involved his teammates and scored important points. But the Warriors were able to come back due to the offensive effort of Baron Davis. Zach Randolph finished the third quarter with a run by scoring 10 pionts in a row. Warriors up 79 - 75.

ImageImage

1 - Zach Randolph draws the foul and sinks the shot
2 - Jason Richardson dunks on Corey Magette

Fourth Quarter
The Warriors exploded in the fourth quarter and outscored the Clippers by as much as 15. Baron Davis and Jason Richardson ran the offense and nearly every shot in the fourth quarter was sinking. Darko Milicic and Ike Diogu allowed the Clippers no easy points in the paint. Even Elton Brand was held to 10 points tonight. Warriors win 109 - 90,

ImageImage

1 - Ike Diogu hits the jumper
2 - Jason Richardson with the lay-up

Image

Clipper of the Game - Sam Cassel
26 points
3 rebounds
9 assists

Don Nelson's two cent's
"I'm happy the way we fought tonight. We took a couple of very bad shots in the first half but that's part of playing professional basketball. The Clippers were a tough oppononent but our team managed to hold them off. I'm very proud of the work our defensive bigs have done tonight. Holding Elton Brand to only 10 points is a great defensive effort. I'm also happy with the way we rebounded tonight. If we can do this on a consistant basis, we will make the playoffs for sure."

Donnie does Golden State - Roster Breakdown

Week 2 - The Power Forwards

Image

Zach Randolph was acquired in a trade with Portland where we sent Troy Murphy and Patrick O'Bryant and acquired him in return. We needed an offensive minded Forward and he lived up to our expectations. He's not the best rebounder in the league nor a defensive specialist but his offensive set is very impressive. There are often nights when our backcourt is shut down. With him on the floor we have more opportunities to score. His low-post moves are what our team needs. He is a bit quicker than the most Power Forwards in the league and his court-vision and understanding of angles makes him a scoring threat every game. Unfortunately he has a rather inadequate shot-selection sometimes. When our team is down, he takes questionable shots that's not what we need in clutch situations. But he is performing great on a regular basis and I'm definatley happy that we acquired him.

Strenghts
Scoring and Speed

Weaknesses
Defence and Shot Selection

Prediction
Future on the team depends on Ike Diogu's development.

Image

Ike is one of our promising youngsters and I predict him to be a star in the NBA in a couple of years. His game is so versatile and you can rely on him on both ends of the floor. His defence is there when we need it, he rebounds the ball, he blocks shots, he gets in front of defenders. On the offensive end he is very skilled. He is quick and he moves his feet very well. Ike is able to read plays before they happen, a reason why he and Baron Davis work so well together. Besides his offensive and defensive abilities he has another upside. Ike is a clutch shooter. When it is late in a close game, you want him on the floor because he is custom to hitting big free throws. He never loses his temper and plays organized and very effective in money time.

Strenghts
Clutch plays - Balanced offense and defence

Weaknesses
Injury Prone - offensive Rebounding

Prediction
May be a starter next season when he is able to develop even further.

Image

James Augustine was acquired in the Darko Milicic deal with Orlando. He is a young player and may develop into a solid contributor off the bench. He is currently playing in the NBA's development league in order to improve his style of play.

Strenghts
n/a

Weaknesses
n/a

Prediction
May be involved in an off-season trade.

Very good stuff. (Y)

Baron Davis was hot against Clippers, 14 assists looks very good.

I like these Roster breakdowns, good work on them, but I'm not so sure about the Diogu's future. Maybe I'm a pesimistic about him.

Lakers Boxscore
Warriors Boxscore

Pregame notes
The Warriors face the Lakers the second time this season tonight at home and are looking to continue a current three game winning streak. The Lakers are weakened by recent injuries to superstar Kobe Bryant who is out with a broken nose and starting Point Guard Smush Parker. But the Warriors have to focus because the Lakers second lineup is 3-0 since the injury of Kobe Bryant.

X-Factor of the night: Lamar Odom
With Kobe sidelined the second start on the Lakers roster needs to score. And he has proven he can as he averages 27 ppg in the last three games. Zach Randolph and Ike Diogu are his matchups tonight and both bigs are looking forward to defend the versatile Odom.

Starting Lineup
Image

First Quarter
As predicted Lamar Odom was the main scoring option for the Lakers in the first quarter. But surprisingly reserve Point Guard Aaron McKie played like a solid scorer. The Warriors had their troubles with defending the quick McKie but ran the offense well enough to gain a lead in the first quarter. Warriors up 31 - 28.

ImageImage

1 - Mickael Pietrus with the dunk
2 - Tough defence

Second Quarter
The Warriors chose to rest all their starters and give the bench a shot to turn things around. And they did it. Darko Milicic, Mike Miller, Anfernee Hardaway, Ike Diogu and Rodney Carney dominated the Lakers at will in the second quarter. Warriors up 63 - 46 after two.

ImageImage

1. Rodney Carney slams one down
2. Penny Hardaway with the lay-up

Players at the half
10 pts - 7 assists by Baron Davis
13 pts - 3 rebounds by Lamar Odom

Halftime Report
The Warriors played a very solid game. After struggleing a bit in the first quarter the bench came out ready to fire in the second quarter finishing strong and outscoring the Lakers at will. Don Nelson chose to rest all his starters for the remaining two quarters expect for emergencies. So we can look forward to see some guy's on the Warrior's bench getting extended minutes tonight.

Third Quarter
The third quarter was similar to the second. The Warriors bench executed beautifully and played like a championship team. Led by Darko Milicic and Anthony Roberson the Warriors went on a 14 - 1 run in the third. The Lakers were able to narrow the gap a bit but the Warriors answered right away. The score: 85 - 69 Warriors.

ImageImage

1 - Anthony Roberson with the Jumper
2 - Modern Art

Fourth Quarter
The Lakers tried hard and Lamar Odom got it going but the Warriors played too well tonight to allow the opponent to come close. Despite a stellar performance by Odom the Lakers lost against the Warriors. The Final Score is 113 - 97.

ImageImage

1 - Carney with the nice dunk
2 - Aaron McKie tries to brake through

Image

Laker of the Game - Lamar Odom
26 points
12 rebounds
2 assists
2 blocks

Don Nelson's two cent's
"After seeing how well the guys played in the second quarter Baron Davis came to me and said that he had talked to the other guys and suggested that it might be a good decision to let them play through the whole game. And this decision was correct, the team played very good we rebounded, we scored, we defended... I'm completely stunned. Our starters got some much needed rest tonight and our bench has proven that they are great. I'm completely satisfied."

Monthly Recap - November

ImageImage

The Warriors have gone 12 - 4 in October/November in a very tight schedule. They defeated a couple of top-teams and played several games in a row on the road and at home. December's schedule is not as tight as the last one and should provide some relief for the players.

Good Recap, New Jersey is doing very well, trip to Eastern Conference Finals for them ;) Youre pretty good, too, only behind Phoenix. The pics are a bit small --> hard to read, I think links would be better.
Richard Jefferson leading the league with only ~23 points, kinda low.
But B-Diddy assists leader, gratz !

Warriors Boxscore
Rockets Boxscore

Pregame Notes
It December the 1st and the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets face each other for the third time already this season. Houston won the season opener at home while the Warriors were able to come away with the win in the Arena in Oakland when they virtually eliminated the Chinese giant Yao Ming. It's the first game for the Warriors on the road after finishing a seven game home series with a win against the Lakers last week.

X-Factors
Shane Battier will play a big role in tonights game. The defensive specialist is said to defend Jason Richardson tonight. The Warriors depend on Richardson's scoring because it is felt that inside scoring tonight will be difficult. If Battier is able to prevent Jason from scoring the Rockets have a clear advantage.

Image

First Quarter

It was the tight matchup experts predicted. Yao Ming made inside scoring very difficult for the Warrior's big-men Zach Randolph and Andris Biedrins. Jason Richardson tried to shake off his defender the whole first quarter and was limited to only 2 points on 1/2 shooting. Veteran Point Guard Bob Sura played extremely well this first quarter and caused trouble for the Warrior's defenders. Tracy McGrady focused on distributing the ball but scored on 4 consecutive possessions near the end of the Quarter. The score is tied at 20 after one.

Second Quarter

The Golden State Warriors focused on distributing the ball in the second quarter and things started to get better. Mike Miller was feeling it when hitting three consecutive three pointers in a row to give the Warriors an early lead. The Rockets tried to come buck but a number of careless turnovers prevented them from narrowing the gap. Rafer Alston had to sit down after colliding with Baron Davis but returned to the game. Warriors lead 50 - 41 at halftime.

Third Quarter
The Third was an even quarter. Just like the first one. It was a back and forth of scoring runs but the Warriors kept the upside due to tough defence. Andris Biedrins and Darko Milicic played well together on the floor and allowed only a few points in the paint. Baron Davis and Mike Miller provided the much needed scoring for the Warriors as Jason Richardson is not feeling it tonight.

Fourth Quarter

Houston made a nice push in the fourth quarter. Especially Tracy McGrady focused on scoring and the Warriors lead was shrinking from minute to minute. Despite the stellar performances of Mike Miller and Baron Davis, the other players contributed not as well as usually. A three pointer by Yao Ming tied the game at 89 and we are heading into overtime.
