I guess Arenas' departure has forced them to scrap their previous rebuilding plan and start again. I can't see how trading away Jamison helps them, unless they're planning on making a run at KG next year.

why would any free agent want to go to a team that doesn't know how to put itself in situations to compete in the league?

again, had they made trades before hand, they could have signed back arenas. People were asking for fortson for 2 years...and they wouldn't let him go...but they wouldn't play him either

NO big time free agent is going to golden state. They have the second worst management in the league next to my team...the knicks.

Great trade for the Mavs. They were looking like they would be left behind in the West with the Lakers, Wolves, Spurs, and the Kings all making big moves. But the Mavs have put themselves right into the mix. All the five teams I have mentioned are good enough to win the title. It is going to be a great season, well a great Western Conference playoffs anyway

Dallas got the better of this deal but GS must have done what they wanted and that is to open up the Starting SF for Dunleavy and find a scoring PG in Van Exel---well that's wat I think they wanted...if so it's good but if they want to make the playoffs...no way unless Dunleavy's gonna be an All-star this year, Van Exel scores a hell lot of points and J-rich plays as the primary scorer and hopefully score 25-30 ppg!!

on paper looks good for dallas. but they get the jalen rose of the west. he gets awesome stats for crappy teams but should be passing the ball more & gets paid like superstar but really isn't. will jamison be a good fit? it remains to be seen. fortson is nice if he can stay healthy. cuban just took on 2 more killer contracts.

i'm trying to figure out why GS did that. they've been trying to move malcontent fortson for a while now. but including jamison seems questionable. a lot of GS fans weren't happy with him, they'll be even more pissed now that he's gone. also welsch seems like he was ready for some significant playing time. perhaps the players the w's are receiving all have expiring contracts? poor GS fans. i don't care if dunleavy looks like bird in the making in the summer leagues. the up and coming team with playoff hopes is having a nightmare offseason and back in lottery contention. van exel will be a fantasy stud :D

i mean, what's the point for golden state ?
to make dunleavy a starter ? to strength a backcourt ?
i think they should kept jamison.
he's a franchise player.
but, good trade for dallas. very good trade.

Yeah, in my opinion Nash and Finley are both better and more proven players than Jamison.

incredibly one sided in dallas's favor, if they could've gotten stojakovic that dallas team firepower would be godlike

nick the quick is an 18 and 6/7 point, he scores 30 of the bench because when he's hot nelly keeps him on with nash and moves finley to the sf.

bench is still very good for dallas on paper plus there will probably always be at least one starter playing capable of 20 ppgs at any given time

c shawn bradley
pf danny fortson
sf eduardo najera
sg tariq abdul-wahad
pg jiri welsch ???

sign another pg cuban cigar  i foresee mucho minutes for captain canada

Call me crazy but im gonna actually enjoy watching the Warriors :P . Nick at Nite is gonna be shooting more a JR will to so it should be entertaining atleast until they hit the bench or those double and triple teams come. Now I know how good NVE is but he gonna realize how easy he had it in dallas wen teams r homing in on him cuz they aint worried about any one but him and JR. Wen he was in dallas he played great and became one of my fav players but its gonna be alot harder wen teams r mainly worried about him and not three other players(dirk, finely, & nash). I believe he gonna do wat he gotta do but it will be alot harder unless GS makes some more moves but now who else do they have left

GS sure knows how to lose some players

Shaq
Penny
Webber
Spree
T. Hardaway
Arenas
NOW Jamison

Hope they dont lose NVE :(

Maybe Van Exel can be among the league leaders in ppg like he was back in Denver. He is definately going to get the shots...

Dallas just got even BETTER! GS got totally arse-raped, van exel doesn't match up to jamison.

Poor Tales & other GS fans. :(

I thiink the mavs are about to turn into the new blazers(without the law problems) They are gonna have too much talen and players arent gonna get the playing time they want.

I don't think the Mavs will be like the Blazers. This trade strengthens their starting lineup but doesn't flood their bench with talent. Their bench is solid, but not star studded. That's not to say they'll definitely have great chemistry or that they're guaranteed to win it all. Right now they're still just a strong team on paper, same as everyone else.

Oh yeah... now the trade makes sense... "Rigô" is the real deal... I forecast an All-Star spot for him...

(N) to the Warriors' management... Could at least get LaFrentz from the Mavs, (N)

They could have at least got one of the big three. Maybe not Dirk, but at least Finley or Nash. Jamison is a great player and is on the level of both Nash and Finley, if not better. Even if the Mavs traded Nash instead of Van Exel they still would have ripped off the Warriors. Johnson and Jones are two of the oldest players in the league, and Rigaudeau did nothing special for the Mavs last year. Still can't believe this trade :?

Rigaudeau won't even play next year, he cancelled his contract with the Mavs 1 month ago and will play in Italy next year

i think it would have been a wiser move for dallas to get either dampier or foyle in the deal. both are better then average big men and are better then what dallas currently has at center.
