Blaster Worm

Fri Aug 15, 2003 11:00 pm

It's a virus that keeps on rebooting your system over and over. It's a real bitch so I'd suggest you download the patch from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en

Just find the Blaster Worm fix patch for your OS. (Y)

I dont know if its the same thing...but go to c:\windows\system\msblast.exe

delete that file...I did that and I never had any problems again

I had the virus, fixed it with the patch. i suggest that XP users should all do it incase if they ever do get it, they will be immune. :)

Damn... I thought this topic would be about a really cool online video game... oh well... I do have a cool online videogame to recomend though... its called Armagetron. You can grab it here http://armagetron.sourceforge.net/news.html ... If you have seen the movie Tron, it's about that part of the movie with the light cycles. If you haven't seen the movie, YOU MUST BE A FOOL! GO WATCH IT... I betcha if there is a nerdy chick working behind the counter at Blockbuster and you rent Tron, she'll make out with you... well... ok maybe not... But the movie is still worth it...

Stupid virus has been going around..i fixed 2 ppls' computers..

In case anybody is having problems removing it, the FIRST thing you should do is go here and get this:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/av ... xBlast.exe

Then patch your windows here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treevi ... 03-026.asp

Just running the patch from Microsoft doesn't fix anything since your system already has msblast.exe and it re-creates itself even if you kill it manually, so make sure you get fixblast.exe first, then patch to prevent further incursions.

I heard that Windows 98 was also unaffected (which is good news for me).
