Charlotte loose heart-breaker at home

Starting 5:

C J. O'Neal
PF T. Prince
SF C. Anthony
SG A. Morrison
PG B. Knight

Image
C D. Milicic
PF D. Howard
SF G. Hill
SG K. Bogans
PG J. Nelson

Bobcats had much of the better pay in the 1st, with Morrison and Anthony both shooting well. Howard and Bogans tried to fight back but good rebounding from debutant former Pacer Jermaine O'Neal meant that Charlotte kept a healthy lead
1st Quarter: Bobcats 36-28 Magic

Charlotte also dominated the 2cnd with Anthony and Prince providing the points and Tayshaun and O'Neal keeping the door shut. Only Nelson and Hill could give any answer to the Charlotte onslaught.
Half-Time: Bobcats 59-44 Magic

Things went from good to great for Charlotte and their fans as they also triumphed in the 3rd. Due to baskets from Knight and Anthony, this one looked to be all over.
3rd Quarter: Bobcats 80-62 Magic

The Bobcats simply relaxed in the 4th and payed the price. The Magic went on a 10-0 run and Charlotte took silly shots. Nelson and Hill combined to tie the game with 28 seconds left. Orlando possesion and Hill nails the jump-shot and Charlotte falls quiet. With 4.3 seconds left in the game, the Bobcats were down by 2. With the clock winding down, the ball went to Jermaine O'Neal, he was held-up by Howard but dunked home. Unfortunately for Charlotte, he didn't get it off in time and the Bobcats lost their first home game of the season due to unacceptable 4th quarter play.
Final Score: Bobcats 97-99 Magic

POG: - Dwight Howard - 21 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists

Keystats: Morrison got 27 points and O'Neal pulled down 8 rebounds but couldn't stop Diwght Howard and Grant Hill who sunk the winning shot and got 7 rebounds

Nowitzki kills Bobcats in Dallas

Starting 5:
Image
C E. Dampier
PF D. Nowitzki
SF J. Howard
SG J. Terry
PG D. Harris

Image
C J. O'Neal
PF T. Prince
SF C. Anthony
SG A. Morrison
PG B. Knight

Dallas took the upper-hand in the 1st, seizing on the opportunities and playing good defense. Anthony and Morrison got points back for the visitors but the Mavericks went into the 2cnd with a clear advantage.
1st Quarter: Mavericks 34-23 Bobcats

The Mavs picked up where they left off, straight from the training court they dominated and looked organised. Nowitzki played amazingly. Prince and O'Neal couldn't stop Dallas despite Knight and Morrison pulling back
Half-Time: Mavericks 57-39 Bobcats

Nowitzki continued his MVP performance showing his great shooting touch for a 7 footer and getting 3 consecutive jumpers. Morrison and Anthony both hit 3's but Dirk and the Mavericks had this one in the bag
3rd Quarter: Mavericks 80-58 Bobcats

Devon Harris piled on the points along with veteran Jason Terry. O'Neal and Prince only got 8 points between them but Nowitzki pulled down boards, was unselfish and was a true leader in this one.
Final Score: Mavericks 104-80 Bobcats

POG: - Dirk Nowitzki - 22 points, 11 rebs, 2 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals

Keystats: O'Neal and Prince only got 4 points each but O'Neal got 11 rebounds. No team could have stopped Nowitzki tonight who shot 50% from the 3 point line and sunk 8-15 field goals

Coach's Corner

Image
Bernie Bickerstaff - the Charlotte Bobcats coach.

Reporter : Bernie Bickerstaff

MR. Bickerstaff, how are you feeling about your start to the 06/07 campaign?im feeling real good right now with the trades our team has acquired. We will be a good fighting team to beat. With tayshaun coming off the bench he helps dominate the lowpost and also helps us score. Jermaine is giving our team a huge lift with blocks and rebounds , look for him to score more in upcoming games too.

How much of a lift was it when you trade up for Carmelo Anthony at the start of the season? He domintaed evry game he played almost scoring at least 20 ppg. he is quick, agile and a great spot up shooter. if Jermaine fails to score watch for melo to step up.

upcoming games, you have a grueling schedule: boston and miami to name a few. Whats the mood like in the training camp at this moment in time?We are training on our Defense right now. Boston almost beat us last time with Pierce, we need to shut him down. The Heat well they are defending champs and champions are really hard to beat especially when u got wade and Shaq on your team. Our team will just have to step up on D big time against them.

A lot of eyebrows were raised when Emeka Okafor and your first round draft pick was traded for Jermaine O'Neal. Where you aware that there would be criticism and were you at all worried about if jermaine o'neal didn't perform for you? No i knew Jermaine would perform because he has been in the league for awhile. Okafor is only in his 2nd year and still learning the ropes around the league. jermaine is what this team needed which is a Leader. They can criticize me all they want but i know whats best for my team.

final question. How far do you think you can take the Bobcats this season? With jermaine dominating and Morrison scoring like he did a few games ago i think we have a chance to win the title honestly, if nobody gets hurt during the season then i say watch out for the bobcats.
Coach, thanks for your time youre welcome

Bobcats tear through Celtics

Image
Jermaine O'Neal had a great night in a Bobcats jersey

Boston Celtics 91-96 Charlotte Bobcats

In a game where Jermaine O'Neal showed his talent, the Charlotte Bobcats wnet 8-3 vs. Boston

Starting 5:
Image

C M. N'diaye
PF J. O'Neal
SF C. Anthony
SG A. Morrison
PG B. Knight

Image

C M. Olowakandi
PF A. Jefferson
SF P. Pierce
SG W. Szczerbiak
PG S. Telfair

Mamoud N'Diaye again had a good night on the glass, grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds. Jermaine O'Neal didn't do a bad job either, pulling down 14. Wally Sczcerbiak posed the biggest threat to the visiting Bobcats as he shot 57% for the night. Paul Pierce was kept quite by his standards, getting 18 points but had a good shooting percentage of 60%.
Jermaine O'Neal gave his best performance in a Charlotte jersey, quiting the critics over the acclaimed questionable trade with Okafor. Bernie Bickerstaff was very confident in last week's edition of coach's corner about O'Neal's ability and it showed last night as he helped Bobcats go 8-3. Adam Morrison continued his good form, shooting 26 points at 67%. Carmelo Anthony had 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Olowakandi was unimpressive - getting just 10 points and 4 rebounds. Telfair tried to fight back with his 24 points and 9 assists but it wasn't Boston's night as they went down to Charlotte.

POG - Jermaine O'Neal - 32 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 blocks

Injury set-back for the Bobcats

Charlotte Bobcats Center Mamoud N'Diaye has been declared out of action for the Charlotte Bobcats due to a severly bruised leg. According to the Charlotte Medical Team, N'Diaye will be out of action for 13 days.
The Bobcats big-man has been in impressive form for his team, proving to be a vital ingredient as of late. With the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat games coming up, will this mean defeats for the Bobcats?
