Authors Introduction

To begin with, I'm doing this for the first time. And also, apologies since the dynasty has been underway for thirty games already, but I just recently returned to these forums and figured it will be interesting to -broadcast- my dynasty's progress.

I use default rosters for the game with my own sliders. Focus is not on hardcore realism and I tweak settings when I see my team doing better in certain team stats compared to some other team average in the league, and I don't believe my team has players who could really push such an effort (like reducing Blocking slider if my team blocks are too high in average, yet I don't have good blockers in team).

Also, I recently created Jeffrey Jordan, Michael Jordans son, in game and signed him into my team. While it's obvious no one would sign Jeffrey nowadays in real NBA, I just liked the what-if touch of it. He's rated merely 64 though, higher than in real life but low enough to be among lowest rated players in my team. Since this is fictional dynasty in the first place, I liked to spice it up a little while trying to stay within realism without losing fun.

I'm playing 7 minutes per quarter with Computer simulated for 12 minutes (which makes my teams average points per game similar to that of simulated games). This might improve later on when I might try and play longer offence.

Anyways, any sort of critique, input or support would be welcome since I'm bound to make mistakes. I'm also interested in what people would like to read about more.

CHICAGO BULLS DYNASTY

OVERVIEW AND RECAP OF EVENTS SO FAR

Chicago Bulls management hired a new general manager Chris Waher at the end of last season in hopes to build a championship worthy dynasty in upcoming years. While the negotiations and details of the contract and agreements are unknown. What's been published before in media is that the focus for Waher is to build a team that brings together young yet experienced players who could study the aspect of teamwork this year in hopes to find success in team talent instead of individual talent.

From 2006 NBA Draft, Chicago Bulls picked Adam Morrison. It became quickly obvious that Waher's focus will be on building a team that has constant jump-shot threat all across the floor, as Morrison joined Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon and Andres Nocioni as prominent backcourt support. The Bulls also received Harold Armstrong from the draft, as well as signed Tskitishvili from the free agents.

Waher arranged private meetings with most players of the Bulls to discuss his plans and what he expects from them. After Ben Wallace was signed, many wondered about the probable concerns over the veterans age. While considered by many still as one of the best defensive players, Bulls was already known as a good defensive team and the invested money was believed to be wasted. Waher commented the situation by saying that even though Ben is a player who will not be on top of the league in few years, he still is a player with valuable defence, physically and mentally, and is in many ways a morale figure in the team "being able to inspire next generation of Bulls defence".

However such dreams and hope set by Waher for the fans of windy city's basketball team came crushingly down as the season finally took off.

NOVEMBER - The Test

Chicago Bulls lost the opening game to reigning champions Miami Heat. This of course did not worry many of the fans who knew that it will take some time until Bulls will be able to find chemistry with new additions in their team. Many even found great hope in the situation, as Adam Morrison who came off the bench in game finished with 24 points in his debut in the league.

But things got much worse very quickly. Morrisons great game was merely a sparkle that soon disappeared, as Chicago Bulls lost the next five games. Losses against Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers were especially terrible. Cleveland broke Bulls spirit in thirty five points with LeBron James scoring forty points.

The Bulls managed to gather themselves in Dallas, by winning the Mavericks with fifteen points 100-85. Nevertheless this was not hope to many of the Bulls fans since Mavericks star player Dirk Nowitzki was injured in the first week of the league.

The terrible perfomance continued with loss against Rockets where great perfomance by Yao and McGrady led their team to 110-128 victory, followed by being eaten alive by Spurs defence and then by Kobe two days later. Another loss came against Nuggets which broke the hearts of many Bulls fans since by half-time it seemed the Bulls will take the victory when they led by twenty points.

By that point, Kirk Hinrich was leading the team, and league, with most points per game. Many shrugged such perfomance off because the team was losing and was losing terribly.

Thankfully the game schedule took a change towards teams that were better to handle for the young Bulls. The two days of break were heated in the Bulls, newspapers critiqued the team, coach and manager, and coach critiqued his players. And manager critiqued his coach. And players.

It's said that Waher had a long discussion with two team leaders, Kirk Hinrich and Ben Wallace over what will happen in the following weeks. Rumours reached the papers soon after and it became known that Bulls will begin looking around the league for possible trades. Names like PJ Brown, who had performed well as a support for Ben Wallace, was under the question, along with Luol Deng who had a terrible beginning to his season, scoring merely eight points per game.

The two days of rest and player meeting benefitted the Bulls as they defeated 76ers at Philadelphia by 83-77. Bulls were unimpressive by having hard time hitting the basket, but luck was on their side since Iverson had his aim off for the night.

Then Chicago Bulls, being motivated by the win in Philadelphia, had a back to back game in New York and came up with a victory 101-88. The game itself was loose and saw the Knicks struggling as they had struggled the whole season. The Bulls finally returned home after seven games in the road and faced the Knicks again, taking another win with a game that was nearly a copy of the game three days before (with a score 101-89).

With those three wins, the Bulls had taken somewhat different direction. Ben Gordon who had struggled all season long scored 22 points per game those three games and Kirk Hinrich was trying to get the whole team involved. Players of the Month in November were Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudamire, rookies Randy Foye and Brandon Roy. The league was led, surprisingly, by Indiana Pacers who had luck in their side the whole first month.

DECEMBER I - Fulfilling the Deal Terms

The rumours took off as the second month began. Waher was said to be looking into possible trades involving PJ Brown and Luol Deng and couple of bench players. Luol Deng did not comment the issue though it was obvious in the media that he is disappointed. PJ Brown talked about it with Chicago newspapers and said that he appreciated the time he spent in Chicago but is willing to be traded without media fuss to another team if management finds it necessary. PJ Browns issue was the most heated, since Bulls players, bench and starters alike liked PJ on and off the court.

Bulls began December with two victories, one over Hornets 91-85 and another a narrow win against Celtics 91-87 in a game where Bulls took over in the final quarter coming out from behind. The next week had it's ups and downs. Bulls lost to Wizards in an ugly game 81-74, then lost large against 76ers 109-73 (a game which saw Iverson post 44 points). Bulls however broke their team-points in one game record for this season by scoring 120 points against Raptors, taking a win 120-97 and then losing to Wolves 85-82 the very next night.

Next week however was a trouble. The last time Chicago Bulls played with PJ Brown and Luol Deng in it's lineup, was against league leader Indiana Pacers. PJ made his best effort and finished his time with Bulls by scoring eighteen points and grabbing ten rebounds, a double double that Bulls fans gave a stand-up ovation for after the game. The Bulls won at home, 84-75. Two days later, it was a different team.

Chicago Bulls announced in the morning of 11th December the trade involving PJ Brown and Luol Deng who joined the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team for Kwame Brown and Vladimir Radmanovic. The trade was critiqued by many fans of the Chicago Bulls, for another shooter in the team was hardly what they needed, and while Kwame is young, fans had their doubts. Many of these doubts were eliminated, though with mixed feelings, as the refreshed Bulls lost to Supersonics at home 90-84.

The next few days saw more trades that actually created some inner team problems with the Bulls as players started to feel uncertain about their position in the team. The four-team trade resulted in Charlie Villaneuva ending up in Trail Blazers, Tskitishvili and Armstrong ending up in Atlanta Hawks and pointguard Marcus Williams and Chris Duhon ending up in Seattle Supersonics. Bulls received from this trade Ridnour from Sonics, forward Marvin Williams from Hawks and Aldridge from Trail Blazers. The Bulls pulled off another quick trade with New Jersey, trading rights to D.Wilkins from Sonics to Nachbar.

The next morning in Chicago Bulls training was a mess. Chicago had lost alot of it's players as a result of Waher feeling that the team needs to be shaken up. This was seemingly also part of the original deal between administration and team manager, as the November was considered more of a test period to see which players the Bulls needs as well as to get a clearer picture over other young talent in the league to invest in.

The team chemistry received a quick hit and many critiqued the manager for such moves. The few really positive feedback came from Lakers as Luol Deng and PJ Brown commented on liking their new team and the chance to work with Phil Jackson, as well as from Sonics who had a point guard without injury trouble as Ridnour had missed all but two games this season.

DECEMBER II - Post-Trade period

The Bulls were all around the newspapers with these risky trades and rumours were thrown around about how players feel uncomfortable in the Bulls. In the practise there had been numerous conflicts between new players and the old and Kirk Hinrich spent a good hour in a meeting with Waher in the evening. Kirk Hinrich and Waher held a press conference prior to game against Bucks in which they discussed the situation with the media.

Waher assured that this was the plan all along, and that this was one of the things he was told at the very beginning when he signed the deal with Bulls administration. The focus was to play a month and see where the team would be headed prior to trying to find suitable young players around the league to build the team with. Waher commented that it is very important for Scott Skiles to have a young team with young experienced leaders like Kirk Hinrich leading the cavalry of Bulls and experienced veteran like Ben Wallace holding back the charge of opposing teams.

It was also mentioned by Waher that the team was built around Kirk Hinrich in hopes to secure a long term deal with Kirk at the end of the season when his contract ends. Kirk however did not comment the issue of his contract and merely said that "time will tell".

The Chicago Bulls new lineup however started with a streak. The very next game against Bucks, Kirk Hinrich posted teams this seasons record in points, ending with 54 points and eleven assists to hold back charging Bucks and Redd who finished with 40 points, in a victory 104-86. While the stats imply that Bulls did not perform like a team, the truth is different. Hinrichs 54 points came from wonderful individual perfomance, however one that could not have been achieved without teamwork. Ben Wallace grabbed fifteen rebouncs and Ben Gordor pulled off eleven assists with Kirch Hinrich being at the receiving end of most of them. Hinrich himself shot more than fifty percent on the field and finished with nine three-point shots out of thirteen attempts which kept the Bulls crowd on their feet for a long time.

The Bulls next opponents were teams that obviously favored the recent trades, teams that many considered lottery bound or otherwise shaky. The Bulls won in Atlanta against Hawks 97-94, then took a win in home against former teammates Luol Deng and PJ Brown by defeating Lakers 95-103. Next weekend had two other games, one against Knicks 116-92, and another against Bobcats who, despite having signed talented Al Harrington from free agents, were not able to stop the Bulls despite Harringtons dominance in the game, 94-79. The Bulls seemed to be on a way to victory against Minnesota on 26th, however Garnetts tremendous perfomance in final minutes resulted in Wolves taking a victory 98-102.

Bulls next faced Miami Heat who had trouble with O'Neals recent injury and while Wade scored 32 points, the Heat lost 101-83.

THE END OF DECEMBER - Jeffrey Jordan

Chicago Bulls management and coaching staff held a press conference in 28th of December. Chicago Bulls signed Jeffrey Michael Jordan as a free agent. Jeffrey Jordan is, as the name implies, son of Bulls legend Michael Jordan, and while merely a point-guard in height and lacking in defence and hustle, Bulls management hopes that young Jordan has a bit of his fathers competitive spirit in him and hopes to turn him into a good player in handful years.

The press conference quickly turned into reporters Jeffrey versus Michael issue. Waher was asked if it isn't risky taking in such a young player since the league has seen many too-young players falling under stress, some even brought out the now-very-much-Bulls Kwame Brown issue. Waher replied that it is often the media that creates the pressure and not the coaching staff and management, but he also said that he believes that young Jeffrey is able to handle it.

Jeffrey Jordans name, surprisingly, was not in the headlines as "The Next Jordan?" in next mornings newspapers. This is obviously because Jeffrey is very different from his father, far from dominant in gameplay and nor is he highlight material. Newspapers also wrote about Jeffrey's training schedule and it was confirmed that Jeffrey is training actively with the team and assistants in hopes to play handful minutes per each game.

The first game as official Bull however did not see Jeffrey on the court. The game in Toronto was the first game where Jeffrey was seen on Bulls bench, yet Skiles did not give him his first minutes. The game was won with good teamwork and hilight material by Andres Nocioni who scored his season best 28 points in the game.

And thus ends the recap of the season so far.

NOVEMBER DECEMBER

SEASON STANDINGS

The season was started strong by Indiana Pacers who led the league the whole first month and then started slowly falling. The strong perfomance has been recently put up by LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers with their nine straight victories and the best division record in the league. The league is led by one of the best teamwork teams in the league, San Antonio Spurs. Teams in trouble are Toronto who have most of their starting lineup in injury trouble, as well as similar situation with Utah Jazz without Andrei Kirilenko. Wizards have had hard time also thanks to Gilbert Arenas' long term injury.

LEAGUE LEADERS

The season started with Kirk Hinrich shooting 28 points per game while his team struggled strong. Ever since the first month his point averages have lessened though just recently it picked up again taking the lead. Kevin Garnett is one of the stat-sheet leading men in the league right now, along with Amare Stoudamire who's posting up big numbers after two months.

MOST IMPORTANT TRADES

The Charlotte Bobcats managed a sweet free agent signing at the beginning of the season after many teams were after Al Harrington. Bobcats however had the best financial options to sign the player and thus Al Harrington now wears the Cats uniform. The largest trading team these first two slow months has been Chicago Bulls, most noticably acquiring Kwame Brown and Vladimir Radmanovic for Luol Deng and PJ Brown.

MVP RACE

There have been many impressive perfomances this season so far, however the most notable MVP has been Amare Stoudamire who has worked strong with Phoenix Suns so far this season. As far as rookies go, the season has introduced some strong young talent to the league, with Rookie of the Year contenders Randy Foye and Brandon Roy leading the pack.

NOVEMBER DECEMBER - NOTE SHEET

RESULTS

Chicago Bulls started very very slowly in their first month of the league, finishing merely with 4-10 record. This was however matched in their second month, as they scored 11-6. Perfomance might be in question however, since the month saw many average teams and not alot of strong contenders.

BULLS LEADERS

Kirk Hinrich has simply been the most impressive Bull this season so far. While he was critiqued at the beginning of the season for taking things too much into his own hands, he concentrated more on teamwork in the second month yet still leads the team in points and assists.

Note that newer players stats don't necessarily reflect their perfomance in Bulls, as Brown, Ridnour, Williams, Radmanovic, Aldridge and Nachbar have not been in Bulls for long.

THE ROSTER

The acquisition of Kwame Brown and Vladimir Radmanovic has been the most important roster change for Chicago Bulls this season. Kwame Brown has proved in his first games with the Bulls that he fits with Wallace while playing power forward position and Radmanovic is an important rotational backup for Small Forward position when Andres Nocioni is struggling. The trade to get Luke Ridnour may be frustrating to the player and how much of an impact it has on the team is still under question, Luke is used to playing starting position. Adam Morrison has been amazing as a rookie, even though he has surpassed his opening night 24 points only once (scoring 26). He's been the most consistent three-point shooter in the Bulls and thus invaluable when one is needed. Marvin Williams has struggled his first games as backup to Kwame Brown because of his smaller build and has fallen in rebound numbers while a Bulls, but that might just take some time. Aldridge has not been noticed that much on the court yet he has given Wallace the much required resting minutes when the veteran needs them.

TEAM CHEMISTRY

Chicago Bulls current happiest player is Marvin Williams who is absolutely in love with the opportunity to play for Chicago Bulls. He's having alot of fun in training sessions and loves to fool around with other new players Radmanovic and Ridnour.

Team leaders Ben Wallace and Kirk Hinrich are also happy with the state the team is in, however both wish for more team events so that the new team could grow together, as well as both wish for a better perfomance in the league.

People who currently are not that comfortable with the state of things is Mike Sweetney who was hoping to be traded as well since his game time has been cut short ever since Kwame came to town. Also Adam Morrison hopes for more game time, which is definetly something he deserves.

Overall the teams largest concern currently is the roster stability, many feel insecure after the recent trades even though manager Waher has stated that no large trades will be planned anytime soon.

NEXT MONTH

How the Bulls will do in the next month is up next and whether the new Bulls can grow together will be the main question next few months. Facing Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns next will definetly be an important step for the players of this team.

NEXT UP
Late report of the last game of December

Image@Image

Cleveland Cavaliers have currently won nine games straight and are heading towards the top of the league with only the Spurs on their way. Ilgauskas, LeBron James and Drew Gooden have been unstoppable past few games and are looking to take down the young Bulls in United Center.

Bulls however are still trying to find the rythm after recent roster changes. Currently their .500 average is not something that's worthy of the teams talent according to fans and players alike. Jeffrey Jordans status is also uncertain, but it is unlikely he will see minutes in the next game.

Bulls are hungry for a success and will be motivated to pull off a good perfomance while LeBron will try and do everything in his power to keep on bringing on victories.

Wow, great read (it's rare for me to actually read dynasties). I love the presentation, make Jeffrey Jordan blossom and make him a his father's prodigy.

It's very good start man (Y)

About the roster and the trades, as well as about the team future, you have very young players, almost all able to improve a lot. But this year the roster looks inexperienced and stacked of young guys with lots of potential, so you may not win the championship this year.

Looking forward for more of this dynasty.

Thanks, it's not my intention to win the championship in the first year, main goal is to have fun. And it can be fun losing as well :)

Notes
Firstly, the 15-16 season score actually reflected the Cleveland game, I was just too tired to post a matchup recap last night so this is actually the last game of December for the Bulls.

MATCHUP RECAP [CLE@CHI]

Image @Image

"Jeffrey's Debut"

Cleveland Cavaliers struggled at the beginning of the game but that did not help the Bulls much, since even as they found open shots they failed to score in the quarter. Amazingly, both teams managed to rebound at the offensive end and the first quarter saw Kwame Brown grabbing three offensive rebounds.

Kwame however struggled as the game continued, and so did the other defensive force on the field - Ben Wallace. Wallace spent every minute on the court yet was more of a success at offensive than defensive end.

The reason for this was the amazing perfomance by Clevelands hustle and ability to make Bulls young players look numb in defense. Zydrunas Ilgauskas put up an All-Star effort every quarter of the game.

Image
LeBron James displaying his ability to get off the defender and shoot an open shot

Second quarter was more hopeful for the Bulls as Kirk Hinrich scored thirteen of teams twenty-seven points, along with two three-pointers which inspired the crowd. By half-time the Bulls led the game 45-48.

Second half however was a game where one man of the Cavs took over the game with their Ilgauskas' support. Larry Hughes made a mockery of Ben Gordon who had very hard time trying to guard him. Cleveland eliminated the difference by the end of the quarter.

Third quarter also saw the debut of young Jeffrey Jordan who played six minutes in shooting guard position with Kirk Hinrich by his side. Jordan scored his first ever points few feet inside of the free throw line with a shaky jumper that barely went in. His two other attempts in the post were all misses due to Clevelands defence.

Image
Player of the Game and News of the Game - Larry and Jeffrey

Fans commented on Jordans perfomance after the game and general opinion was that he has a quick step and good speed but has trouble in defence, and offence due to his height. However fans were concerned over his game minutes against Cleveland that might have been more useful for Adam Morrison and his three-pointers.

After Jordan was substituted against Gordon who had rested enough to play until the end of the game, the Bulls had to live through something they had not faced often this season so far. Andres Nocioni who had scored sixteen points as a team leader at that point, with two three-pointers and three assists, got injured strong as Drew Gooden crashed with him during Nocionis drive to the basket. Nocioni scored, but was unable to shoot the free-throw.

Image
Marvin Williams scored the only non-Wallace Bulls dunk of the night with a strong force that was too hard for Gooden to handle

At that point Bulls struggled since Nocioni was one of the most important defensive players in their lineup. This gave alot more space to LeBron as the two responded to everything Bulls had to offer. Drew Goodens basket fifteen seconds before the end of the game took Cavs ahead, and the Bulls failed to get a decent shot at the basket before the game ended.

Chicago Bulls lost 90-91

Player of the Game awards went to Larry Hughes who showed how valuable a good shooting guard can be against the young Bulls. Andres Nocioni's injury will be a problem for Bulls, however it was announced that he will be completely out merely for around ten days.

*-matchup of the game

Phoenix Suns come to Chicago after defeating Detroit Pistons at the end of last month. Amare Stoudamire is posting up amazing numbers so far this season, and having Steve Nash (17PPG, 6.2APG) for support with Shawn Marion (16PPG) is an offensive force that may just be too much for the Bulls.

Bulls however will face a different problem. Losing their all-season-long starter Andres Nocioni who would be an important addon to their defence will be hard for the Bulls.

Fans expect of this game a Kirk Hinrich and Steve Nash duel who are currently among the top Point Guards in the league this season.

INTERESTING STATISTICS ABOUT PHOENIX SUNS

Phoenix are 24th in league with fouls which gives hope for a clean game. However they are 29th in the league in defensive rebounds which sounds like something favorable for Bulls post-players Kwame Brown and Ben Wallace.

MATCHUP RECAP [PHX@CHI]

Image (17-14) @ (15-16)Image

"Disappointing Loss"

Seasons worst first quarter with 3 out of 27 shooting for Bulls with Wallace and Gordon struggling. Wallace was tremendous force at the boards yet Bulls defense was seemingly missing from United Center. No matter which shots the Bulls took, open or not, they missed. Kirk Hinrich was shown more often than not by Steve Nash why he won the MVP last two seasons and Hinrichs first quarter perfomance will be material to learn from for young point guard in years to come.

Image
Ben Wallace in deep hustle, the presence the whole game

Wallace kept grabbing offensive rebounds, as was guessed prior to the game due to Phoenixes bad perfomance in defensive boards, yet he failed to produce those rebounds into points. Nash outplayed Kirk Hinrich the whole second quarter with simple fakes and open shots while Stoudamire kept grabbing offensive boards to neutralize Wallaces perfomance.

Image
Steve Nash in his player of the game perfomance after faking Kirk Hinrich

Wallace had grabbed season record 17 rebounds in the first half but it was a bitter result compared to 25 point loss at the half. Bulls trademark three-pointers were all missing the first half as well. Scott Skiles who's been a rather quiet coach the whole season was frustrated with his players first half-perfomance, as were the fans. The Bulls are known to have some of the best fan support in the league, but today showed many leaving already during the half-time. Bulls at defence saw just a few fans cheering and yelling 'De-Fence De-Fence..'. It summed up the whole first half, and the game.

Image
"They hear but they don't listen" - Chicago Bulls fan

And fans hoped the Bulls would be able to reduce the different the next half. And while true, for a few minutes, the third quarter saw the Bulls let the loss increase to thirty points. Bulls did score more than in previous two quarters and Ben Gordon was the only Bull with a constant touch in open shots, but Amare Stoudamire kept any sort of potential Bulls initiative at bay.

Fourth quarter the Suns substituted in alot of their bench players and Bulls had also already accepted the loss. Game saw some more minutes for Jeffrey Jordan who ended up with four points and three assists in his second game. Radmanovic tried to fill the shoes left by Nocioni and failed with disappointing four to fifteen shooting.

Chicago Bulls lost 62-93

Player of the Game awards went to Steve Nash who outplayed Kirk Hinrich all game long. When Ridnour entered the game, he too lost to the MVP (while the game was one of Ridnours best perfomances as a Bull). Impressive numbers were put up by Ben Wallace who was a blessing and a curse the whole game. Ben Wallace grabbed 28 rebounds, a season record, with seventeen of them being offensive (another record), but he failed to perform under the basket and was blocked by Amare three times.

Most shocking display came from Kirk Hinrich however, who failed to score a single point despite shooting the ball nine times.

Chicago Bulls has fallen to two strong teams in a row now and hope to bounce back into winning streak against New Jersey Nets. Fans are concerned over Bulls leaders perfomances however, since Kirk Hinrich failed to score a -single- point against Phoenix Suns and will face a motivated Jason Kidd next.

INTERESTING STATISTICS ABOUT NEW JERSEY NETS

 Similarly to Phoenix, the Nets are not a great defensive rebounding team which may be a hope for Bulls fans after Wallace's perfomance against the Suns.
 New Jersey are on their third straight home game and won last two against the Hawks and Wolves.

NOTABLE NEWS AROUND THE LEAGUE

Andrei Kirilenko will soon return to Utah Jazz roster as his injury will hopefully get better in the next few days. This might help the Jazz improve their record since they have struggled without Kirilenko.

It was a trade for PJ Brown and Luol Deng as I mentioned before. It also included two bench players to fix the cap-difference. Luol Deng is an amazing player but he did not fit my gameplay style at all, so I figured Lakers would love a Odom-Bryant-Deng trio and they did.

Anyways , I'm having fun with this so far. By adding this off-the-court touch and reports to this dynasty it's even more fun ingame and not just one-game-after-another as have been my previous routine gaming experiences with Live 05 and 06. :)

MATCHUP RECAP [CHI@DET]

Image(15-17)@(11-20)Image

"Gordons 37"

The Bulls started the game as if they had entirely forgotten their season-worst perfomance against Phoenix Suns. While Kirk Hinrich kept struggling missing his first three attempts, he followed the misses with two hits.

Most impressive was the team perfomance however, as the bulls gathered eleven assists in the first quarter and six three-point shots (with Ben Gordon on three out of three). Jeffrey Jordan also scored his first three-pointer this season, being left open and receiving a magnificent pass by Kirk Hinrich.

Image
Nets knew that the first offensive possession in game is about style..

New Jersey Nets were not badly off however, while their defense was struggling to lock up Bulls open positions, their offense was clicking with Vince Carter leading the way with Jefferson and Kidd for support. Bulls led after the first quarter 34 to 24.

The second quarter however was a different story with the Nets taking over the game. Led by Jason Kidd who found open lanes all around the place, the Nets held Bulls at bay in defence and kept dominating in offence.

Image
Hinrich shook off his struggling in defence with good touch in offence

Kidd scored fifteen points in the second quarter and Bulls best perfomance in the quarter was by Marvin Williams with six points. Turnovers became quickly a problem with Kirk Hinrich stumbling over and over again.

The third quarter saw the Bulls getting back in the game as Ben Gordon scored thirteen against Carters eight and Kidds nine points. Kirk Hinrich was struggling in defence, and was not much of a success in offence, but he did score a three pointer that helped Bulls take the lead 2.1 seconds before the end of the third quarter, leading 81-78.

Image
Good pass from Hinrich and.. Ben.. Amazing!

The rest was only about closing the book. The Bulls had found a flaw in Nets defence and abused it, Nets failed to rotate in defence against their shooters and Bulls made them pay for it in the fourth. Yet again Ben Gordon shot 13 points having Hinrichs 8 for support, Bulls won the quarter 33 to 21 and won the game despite Jason Kidd's desperate attempts to bring his team back into the game.

Bulls win 114-99

The entire backcourt of Nets was as deadly as people guessed, scoring all but 12 points of their final result. Jason Kidd pulled off absolutely amazing game with 45 points in 34 attempts, having Carters support with 24 points in 29 attempts and Jefferson with 18 points and 17 shots.

Ben Wallace was not dominant in the boards, however he grabbed his share of offensive rebounds. Most impressive was Ben Wallace being tied to Bulls offense, being the main man who passed the ball out to open shooters. He ended up with thirteen rebounds and nine assists.

Bulls backcourt was not in shame either. Kirk Hinrich scored 26 points with .500 shooting and ended up with his average seven assists. Ben Gordon was the Bull of the night with season best 37 points, and seven three-pointers.

Bulls bench was not used too often in the game and the combined minutes by guards Jordan and Morrison saw merely 7 shots out of 20 as a success. Most impressive Bull on the bench was Marvin Williams, ending up with ten points and five offensive rebounds. It tastes bitter however as Marvin Williams injured his leg after a block attempt and will miss around ten weeks, which may be a sign for Mike Sweetney to get more playing time.

The Bulls smiled as they left the court, leaving behind broken Nets who hoped for their third straight victory at home. Kidd had won the battle, but Hinrich won the war.

*-matchup of the game

Detroit Pistons has lost their last four matchups as they arrive in Chicago Bulls to meet the young team for the first time this season. Strong defence has been a problem in this season for the Bulls and it's the third game in a row with Kirk Hinrich having to guard against league leading point guard.

The game however is in United Center and homecourt advantage might inspire Bulls shooters to overcome Detroits defence. Down below, Ben Wallace is guessed to have a great game being matched up against his previous team and against Dale Davis.

The Bulls also sees the return of Andres Nocioni, though still not in perfect form the Bull will be an important addition in Bulls defence while always having a good jump shot ready in offense. Marvin Williams, as mentioned before, will miss around two months due to injury which will probably give more game time for Mike Sweetney.

Troublesome aspect about the Pistons game might be Bulls stamina, since it's a back to back game.

INTERESTING STATISTICS ABOUT DETROIT PISTONS

It is definetly interesting to think a bit ahead at the Bulls future. The trades pulled off handful weeks ago invested alot in the youth, however - quality youth. Problem with this approach is that Bulls has no real superstar in the team and is led by young star point guard Kirk Hinrich and aging star veteran Ben Wallace. The rest of the team however has players who would all be ready to start in many lottery bound teams in the league.

This might create conflict of interest in upcoming months and especially the summer where many contracts will run out. Most noticable of these contracts are both main Point Guards, Kirk Hinrich and Luke Ridnour. It is known that many of these recent trades were made with hopes to give Hinrich a good team to lead, which might convince him to sign a long-term contract, however all accounts show that the contract might be big enough to take Bulls out entirely from free-agent signing potential.

More important is the question about Andres Nocioni and Luke Ridnour. Nocioni is a team leading caliber player if he'd play in a strong duo with another guard player, reminding many of Scottie Pippen. However his numbers this season have been below fans expectations and many claim this is the effect of other players dominance in game making the Small Forward position less effective. In ways that is true, Brown and Wallace are a tremendous force in post and Hinrich and Gordon do most of the required work with points. All this might make Andres Nocioni, who currently does enjoy the team he is playing for, reconsider his options at the end of the year. Manager Waher however has commented that he requires a good defender like Nocioni and does not plan to willingly trade him and hopes to resign him at the end of the year.

Image
Jeffrey Jordan and Adam Morrison in Wednesdays practice

But Luke Ridnour is a player many fans consider as a wasted trade. While Waher has commented why he decided to obtain Ridnour - him being very similar to Kirk Hinrich which is a presence he'd like to be on court at all times - it is doubtful that Ridnour will emerge from behind Kirk and take over the team, and a player who's that young wants to lead a team, especially being a point guard.

Mike Sweetney is another question. It is hard to see what Mike might do at the end of the year, since many considered him to be part of the recent trades that happened, now with Marvin Williams in the team his minutes in game have been cut very short indeed. But as Marvin is injured, Sweetney will be the rotational backup of Kwame Brown at least next two months which might show the value of the player.

Bulls long term contracts are also in question. Radmanovic is on a five year contract which is a risky period, since many fans don't consider Radmanovic as a player worthy such considering the role he's playing in the Bulls. Other two long contracts are of Adam Morrison and Jeffrey Jordan, who share a similar deal with the management and have a spot in the Bulls for next four years. Both players are young and inexperienced, but both have good chances in Bulls to develop.

Overall it is obvious that if Chicago Bulls intends to keep such a roster, after a few years if players have gained more experience, their salary cap might be blown to bits for years to come with a threat of becoming the next New York Knicks, or perhaps Portland Trail Blazers (who, even as they found success for many years, were never real championship contenders). It's a fate the management is trying to avoid.

Thanks for the compliments. While I'm having fun playing through this, large part of why I'm posting here is because of you, readers who follow the progress, would also find it great to read.

I'm trying to mix the reports with positive and negative, inside the team and outside as much as possible since conflicts always spice things up a bit.

The basic structure of this Dynasty reports presentation is quite simple. Every ingame month I will post one of those Note Sheets about the progress all around the league, and related to bulls. In between those Note Sheets are matchup reports which may or may not have a specific article reporting something not directly monthly or matchup involved (like salary cap overview in the last one).

I am also trying to find subtle ways to get you, readers, involved with the dynasty more thus I'm making you part of the media-fan section. Aka, you can PM me questions you would like to ask from manager, coach or certain player and time to time I'll make a press conference type report where I will approach the questions you have asked as well as other fictional questions I might consider important.

Depending on media feedback and concerns in fanbase and media, different situations may arise in the team and may influence the larger picture overall. Sadly though I'm not taking the approach of many dynasties which has forum-members suggest new rookies (or in fact, become ones), since even though I'm trying to keep this fun, my aim is to have certain realism in it as well.

Also, I've posted alot of matchup reports today, this won't be the standard. I just had alot free time in my hands and figured I'd jump start this :)

As far as PG dominance goes, it's not really an issue. I've had trouble guarding with Kirk Hinrich the larger PG's all season long, but PG dominance is not an issue in game. While surely Kidd made short work of my defence, it's not the case with teams without superstar point guards (@Cavs stats for example) and I'm able to contain PG's. PG dominance is not an issue that only affects PG's, it's same with all players it's just that PG handles the ball the most and thus when I have trouble defending him, they take advantage. Carter attempted nearly as many shots in game as Kidd for example.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback :)

MATCHUP RECAP [DET@CHI]

Image(15-15)@(16-17)Image

"Morrison Stumbles"

Detroit Pistons, coming to Chicago in a strong losing streak, were filled with confidence that even though Ben Wallace is in the opposing team instead of their team, they can still handle young Bulls offense.

Kirk Hinrich who has faced alot of critique recently started the game off strong. Bulls leader kept Chauncey Billups busy and at times it seemed that Billups is all over the court with his defence. But this left Hinrich himself open alot of times, and Hinrich scored four three point shots out of five attempts, including a shot scored in the buzzer that Billups did not even attempt to block.

Image
Adam Morrison displayed good touch all across the court

Such a careless perfomance was evident in Billups' first quarter achievements, but the rest of the team managed to score well. Rasheed Wallace outplayed Kwame Brown over and over again, in boards and in offense, and finished with eight points. The Bulls led by ten, 31-21.

The Bulls did not let the initiative drop at the beginning of second quarter which had numerous missed shots for both teams. Kirk Hinrich nailed another three-pointer and two assists in the quarter. Most impressive perfomance in the quarter however was by Adam Morrison who has seemingly been instructed by the coach to drive closer to the basket instead of settling for the jump shots. Morrison scored nine points in the quarter.

Image
Tayshaun Prince with a critical layup that was one of the cornerstones of Pistons newly gained initiative

Detroit lost the quarter much like the first one, and by half-time the score was 57-36. Pistons had a very unified offense yet they seemingly failed to contain Bulls in defense. Best players at the half were Kirk Hinrich and Rasheed Wallace who was putting up a strong effort.

The third quarter saw the bulls fall apart due to inexperience and overconfidence. Scott Skiles subbed in some of the bench players and with Ridnour leading them, the young point guard faltered - Detroit took over and grabbed the initiative. Bulls managed only eight points in the quarter and saw their lead being reduced to merely three points. Richard Hamilton and Prince led the charge.

Image
The killing strike by Rasheed, offensive board that shattered most of Bulls chances

Kirk Hinrich was quite upset with his own, and the teams, perfomance in the third quarter, having missed nearly all of his attempts and the ball distrubution was below average - resulting many turnovers.

In the last quarter it was already too late. Pistons had found initiative which they did not give away and while Bulls made a really strong effort they failed when it mattered. Down by one, Adam Morrison missed a layup. And again in the very next offense. Young rookie had pulled off one of his better perfomances this season, yet failed when it mattered as Pistons built their lead up to five points.

But it was not just about Bulls players that were the cause of their downfall, Pistons own Rasheed Wallace completely destroyed the Bulls in their own boards.

The Bulls lose the game 79-85

Overall perfomance was all in trouble because of one very weak quarter that opened the doors for Pistons to take control over the game. The Bulls best perfomance was by Kirk Hinrich who scored 23 points and pulled off four steals and four assists. Adam Morrison was a strong support with nineteen points, despite failing in clutch.

From the winners side the best performer was Rasheed Wallace with nineteen rebounds and eighteen points. Prince and Hamilton finished both with 22 and Billups who was well contained by Hinrich, ended with fifteen.

*-matchup of the game

The Bulls have been shaky last few games. While showing wonderful teamwork in some quarters, they entirely fall apart in others. It is also hard to determine what is the cause of such downfall since it has seemingly happened with most on-court players in game.

Houston Rockets however are one of the stellar teams in the league at this moment. They won five games in a row before surprisingly falling in Minnesota. Rockets fans concern at this moment is the fact that their team goes against Bulls, who had a disappointing loss against Detroit and hope to redeem that failure, while it is also a back to back to Rockets who's stamina will definetly be an issue. The Bulls have had a day of rest.

INTERESTING STATISTICS ABOUT HOUSTON ROCKETS

The 3rd quarter was like a disaster to you. The things were looking very bright at the halftime. The bulls need consistency in all the quarters, and I think you will achieve that.

Good luck vs Rockets. This is one of the best dynasties so far in this section. Keep it going

Yes I read about the patch and will probably start using it some time soon. It's a simple *.bat script which makes it very customizable and I absolutely love that even if I have to run it after every week or so just in case.

Anyways I'm also trying to stay away from routine match reports all the time and try and mix it up with different stories from time to time. This time its..

PUBLIC PRACTICE REPORT

Chicago Bulls played an open-doors practice match today that lasted around half the actual games time. The match brought in a few journalists and couple hundred fans who were interested in seeing the matchup between Bulls players.

The practice match did not see the presence of team leaders Ben Wallace and Kirk Hinrich, and Marvin Williams was in the sidelines due to injury. While he was not asked to come to the practice match, Marvin did and he made a positive impact on Bulls players from the sidelines with his snappy trash-talk.

Image
Two main players fans were interested in before the practice. Adam Morrison who failed in consistency in last game, and Jeffrey Jordan.

Both teams consisted of few starters, few constant rotation players and some few backup players. Bulls A consisted of LaMarcus Aldridge in the center, Radmanovic in unusual Power Forward position, Nocioni (who is still not 100% after his recent injury) in second forward position, Adam Morrison and Jeffrey Jordan as guards.

Bulls B features Kwame Brown in the center, with Mike Sweetney and Bostjan Nachbar in front and Ben Gordon and Luke Ridnour as guards.

The game was very lighthearted, yet competitive and showed both starters and bench players giving a strong effort. The most impressive player on the court was Kwame Brown who literally dominated Bulls A team who did not have much of a rebounding presence. Aldridge and Radmanovic performed well, but Kwame's presence was hard for them to handle.

The guard positions actually saw a shootout in the progress. Ben Gordon and Adam Morrison, who usually substitute eachother in league games, gave an impressive perfomance. Ben Gordon displayed his amazing talent to find shots, and Morrison had amazing supporting perfomance by Jeffrey Jordan and Radmanovic to dish him the ball for open shots. Morrison hit three threepointers in the game and scored 23 points. Gordon responded with 17. Bostjan Nachbar also tried his best in the game, and while forcing many shots he ended with ten points.

Amazing perfomance by Gordon who found most of his shots by himself

Morrison and Nocioni were also impressive in defence, but the most impressive defensive game came from Aldridge with four blocks.

The guards had a battle of their own. Jeffrey Jordan showed signs of defensive talent and held Ridnour to merely eight points with .300 shooting. However it was the same the other way around, Jeffrey had hard time hitting the basket and ended with games worst amount of points, 4, result shared with Aldridge and Sweetney.

Final minutes of the game however displayed intense competition. Bulls A were down by five points when Nocioni found Jeffrey Jordan open behind the three point line. The guard stumbled for a moment when receiving the pass, yet gathered himself, stepped few inches over the three point line yet managed to score a beautiful jumper.

After a defensive stop that saw Gordon missing a forced shot, Nocioni led the team quickly to the other end with a pass that ended up in Morrisons possession. The young guard glanced at the threepoint line, made notice of Gordon rushing towards him, jumped and nailed a threepointer that received strong applause from the crowd. Gordon missed the potential block merely by milliseconds.

Jordan.. Open! Chicago with the le-.. Scratch that

Game was tied but Gordon had one more play in mind. He carried the ball across the court and passed the ball to Ridnour who found himself open. Guard however seemingly knew it is not his best of days and passed the ball right back to Gordon who was now open near the freethrow line. Gordon scored and took Bulls B front by two.

Marvin Williams then took over the coaching of Bulls A from Scott Skiles who apparently did not mind. Marvin called for number 32, and with a smile it was obvious to the crowd that they will attempt to play the ball to Michael Jordans son to test his perfomance in such dire situations. Bulls B team was around the assistant coach, receiving instructions and Ben Gordon said a few words in a light mood and smile to Jeffrey before the play was called in.

Jeffrey managed to get himself open, but.. missed the shot. Disappointed sighs came from the crowd, but merely for an instant as when the time ran out, the Bulls practice teams were sent off the court with a light applause.

From fans comments it was obvious that they were happy to get the opportunity to see a fans-focused Bulls practice and many of the fans hoped for a great game against the Rockets the next day.
