KG
Currently into the third season of dynasty as a Lakers, I've made a surprising move; not resigning KG. I would have thought that he would not want more than $10 million because of his age and personality. But then I realized that it is a game, not a real-life person. He asked to be payed around $20 mil per year for the next 3 years. I didn't sign him, because knowing that other teams don't have the cap spaces to sign him, I thought I'd just wait, hoping to snatch him at around $10 million / year, which the cap spaces I had left after not resigning KG.
Andrew Bynum
I was very surprised to see Bynum asking for only $2.60 million per year for the next 3 years. Of course again, it is a game. I like the defensive line up, thus the reason I started Przybilla and resigned Gerald Wallace at $10 million (Iguodala receives $9 mil per year). It is obviously wrong to pay Wallace more than Iguodala. But I did, because I wanted to keep the team intact. Last season defensively, we were at the top.
I offered Bynum $7 million more and added 3 more years, making it $20 million / 6 years, starting at $2.60 million. I have the future starting center for years to come.
Retirement
2 seasons ago, Darrel Armstrong had retired, and this offseason, P.J. Brown did retire. I wished he'd stay, because he still had 1 more year of contract left on him ($5 million / 2 years). Since I didn't resign David West until the season started, the PF position was widely open without KG, West, and Brown.
Free Agency
I didn't resign David West (signed for MLE 2 seasons ago), just to see whether I can resign KG at around $10 million at the free agency. At that time, I had around $12 million left in cap spaces. I offered $9 million deals to Antawn Jamison, but he rejected it. Then I offered $50 million / 5 years deal to Danny Granger. I signed him. I had about $2 million left in cap spaces, so I signed Jared Jefferies to 3 years deal, starting at $1.9 million, leaving my PF position clearly empty. I thought to use Granger at PF, but I do not like small line up.
I picked up McDyess and Malik Rose for minimum. I offered a minimum to Keith Bogans, but was rejected.
Trades
First trade I made was getting rid of Gerald Wallace. Though I liked the defensive 2-3-4-5 punch, thus resigning him at the high prices, I really needed a starting PF since KG was gone. I traded him + fillers for Bosh.
2008-2009 Season
Once the season has begun, I decided to spend MLE, since PF positions weren't clearly good enough. I tried offering MLE to KG and Jamison, but they both rejected. So I ended up offering it again to David West. He joined the team again for next 2 years.
Player Lookouts
Bill Jenkins - a 2007 11th pick rookie point guard, 6"6' 212 lbs frame with great shooting, passing, and dribbling (he's soon going to be highflyer star), whom I traded Celtic's 1st pick for my Quinton Ross and Lakers 1st pick.
The shortest player in my team is 6"6'.
Brandon Roy - currently starting PG, 2006 sixth man of the year, very efficient playing 3 positions.
The Lakers are currently 4-2 with Brandon Roy injured for 2 weeks. Injuries has been major concerns for my team, but we're making it through; 2006 WCF, 2007 Champion, 2008 WCF.
I feel so sorry to see KG at the free agency.
