What do you wish you had written?

In the interest of sparking some interesting conversation around here I've decided to create a new thread.

Basicly, the concept is as follows. If you could have written:
- a song
- a book
- a movie script
- a tv show
what would it have been?

What do you wish you could have created and why?

For me, it would be the following:

Song - She Said by The Beatles from the album Revolver
Why? The combination of Indian themes and 60's rock n roll is perfectly captured by this tune. The intro is awesome, immediately capturing attention, and the vocal harmonies make the song sound incredibly full. A perfect pop song in the traditional sense, but also a stunning display on the influences that the Beatles were channeling at the time (Indian music and drugs).

Book - Band of Brothers by Steven A Ambrose
Why? This book is probably more famous now because of the TV mini series that followed. It perfectly captures the hardships, triumphs and personalitites of a small group of men in WW2. It also shows the importance of friendship and trust, hidden within the bloodshed and tradgedy. It was an addictive read and so detailed that you feel that you know the men who this book is based on.

Movie Script/Concept - Anchorman
Why? Beyond the fact that is really fucking funny, the movie has elements that are surreal and abstract. The comical genius of Will Farrell is immediately apparent in the film, and the unexpected angles the movie diverges upon at times are sheer brilliance (see News team fight seen).

TV Show - The Mighty Boosh
Why? This show is strange. It's a comedy that takes people on a journey via TV. The whole show is based ina fictional environment that is unrealistic but still believable. The jokes, nuiances and music tie this show together to create some weird but captivating comedy.

So now, tell everybdy what you would choose and why!

Song - Public Enemy - Fight The Power
Nobody could rhyme like Chuck and at the same time say as much as he did. The man is really amazing.

Book - dang...I'm really no expert on books...at all.

Movie Script - The Truman Show
I don't know, I just love everything about it: the concept, the execution, the way shots are set up, the ending, etc.

TV Show - Arrested Development
This is without question. I think it's the best sitcom of all time. Well-developed characters, intensely fast-paced scripts with loads of laughs, the most bizarre plot twists that make sense and tie into each other in a way that beats even Seinfeld, the way they use running jokes, it's just so absolutely amazing in every way. But Fox cancelled it...

Why are people making threads with "i'm trying to make interesting discussion" as their opening line. Just make it for the sake of it.

Song - A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario. Would've been hella fun sitting there putting all these fun rhymes together.

Book - Harry Potter series. Big moolah.

Movie Script - Saw. Very very sick mind, but creative none the less.

TV Show - The Simpsons or Family Guy. I have a few ideas (although they might be lame) for some comical stuff. Too bad I'll probably be the only one who finds them funny.

yeah it seems like people are trying TOO hard, if it's possible.
It almost seems forced.

anyways,
song- "Express Yourself", NWA. In a small connection to Yohance's "role" thread, I would love to be the one who raises awareness on a lot of issues... Change is good.
book- I dunno. might think of one later.
Movie- Star Wars. The best epic story ever written and the marketability of this movie is ridiculous
tv show- Family Guy. The best in-your-face cartoon today. I love the flashbacks, with stinging pop culture references.

- a song: Anything by Mozart, given he's a genius.
- a book: The Bible. All shall bow down before me.
- a movie script: Good Will Hunting. It's a great script, and it was written by Matt Damon and freaking Ben Affleck.
- a tv show: Seinfeld. I don't think I've enjoyed a tv show as brilliant as Seinfeld.

Song - Anything from the Isley Brothers. I'd be friggin rich with all the times the song have been sampled + I'd get tons of girls being able to romantize like that. There's also hundreds of rap songs I'd like to claim my own.

Book - I don't read books so nothing comes to mind.

Movie script - It's about time something got done for the movie on Max Payne, they have to do it right, therefore let me do the script!

TV Show - Simpsons. That would be great.

Song: The Man Who Wrote Danny Boy, Joe Jackson.

Book: Finnegans Wake, James Joyce. I love the mingling of words, the puns, the overall mystique of the story.

Song - Imperial March from Star Wars. Money + it's quite good. If you don't consider this a "song" then I'd go with Yesterday.
Book - Harry Potter: Lots of money, and MUCH less criticism than the Bible. Do you think you would be able to handle all those complaints?(even though Harry Potter does receive a whole lot.)
Movie Script - Pulp Fiction: Although I like Kill Bill more than Pulp Fiction, Pulp Fiction has a much better script.
TV Show - Dragonball Z: Boatloads of money from all over the world! Not to mention all that merchandising, video game deals, etc. (yea it was a manga first, but that wasn't an option)

Song i wish i could've wrritten: hotel california, to me this is what is known as musical perfection a song that has no flaws...i just wish i could've been a part of its making
book-fear and loathing in las vegas...vegas in 1971 on mescaline and acid for 4 days?sounds like fucking fun
Movie:Edward Scissorhands....dont have a real reason for this...just wish it had been me
TV Show: whoever came up with the daily show originally (craig kilborn era) was ok...but the people who made it what it is today are gods

Song: I'm not sure. I'm a huge George Strait fan though (probably the only one on the forums.

Book: I'm not a huge reader of books, but two of them that I really, really liked are: One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, and Man's Search for Meaning, by Victor Frankl

Movie Script: I would have to say "Dumb and Dumber." I think it could almost be called the defining movie of a generation. It created the whole "it's funny because it's stupid" genre that made things like Anchorman possible.

TV Show: I would have to say the Simpsons simply because of the way it's written. Sure its funny and all, but the depth of the show is what keeps me watching. The satire and historical references throughout the show is astounding.

The correct term for Mozart's creations is "melody".
On topic, here's my list:

Song: "Californication" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. So much true in the lyrics of that song. Also, "excellent" is not enough to describe how good the instrumental part of the song is.

Book: "All Flowers Die" by Andrew K. Stone. Superb book.

Movie script: Can't think of any right now, I'll edit later.

TV Show: "Prison Break" or "My Name is Earl". Both are awesome shows with original storylines.

A song: Radiohead - Creep. Lyrics are so simple and yet poweful. One of my favourite songs.

A book: A Farewell To Arms (or just about everything else) by Ernest Hemingway. This guy was a bloody genius and I would give anything to have just one part of that immense talent that made him a legend.

A movie script: Eternal Sunshine of the Spottles Mind, a true example of why Charlie Kaufman is quickly becoming one of the best authors of our time. His works are a mix of depth, simplicity and sheer originality that takes each and every of his works to the next level. I chose ESotSM because I believe that's his best work to this date, because it's a romance in it's truest sense, because it has a strong message and delivered the message as efficient as any book - which is the highest compliment a movie/screenplay can get.

A TV show: Carnivale. I wanted to say Seinfeld, but I wanted to be a bit different. Carnivale was one of the best series I've ever seen, with the perfect combination of quality acting, directing and scriptwriting. Too bad it was cancelled before it became a true masterpiece.

a song: "What I got" by Sublime. I don't listen to much music but I really like this song.

a book: I don't "pleasure read" but I'd say A Judgement in Stone by some lady. I liked the book even though it was summer reading for school.

a movie script: I agree with BigKaboom, Office Space. My favorite movie. I want to be like Peter :lol:

A song: "Mad World" by Gary Jules. That song pretty much put the way I felt for my first two years in Holland. Then I grew some balls and realised that difficult situations in life only make you stronger & add to the experience.

A book: I haven't really come across that totally influenced the way I lived, but just so that I don't have to leave this blank, I'll go with the Bible.

A movie script: I suppose you could interchange this answer with the book answer, Fight Club.

A television show: The Shield, never a dull moment in all the seasons, never. I also tend to relate more to the bad guys who are willing to do good if it's in their benefit. I would've also liked to have come up with the character of Dr. Gregory House, I'd have rewritten him, I'm tired of my family and friends telling me I'm like him. I am not that rude. Never.

It is, but I prefer the rendition of Gary Jules, it's a cover by Gary Jules.

I didn't want to have to look up the name of the original band/singers, but with that post, you just made me.

"Mad World" is a song originally written by Roland Orzabal of the British band Tears for Fears.

Long live the Wikipedia. Anyways, I have their version too, but it's not as simple as the Gary Jules version which just has the help of the piano if I'm not mistaken. The simplicity just adds to the lyrics of the song.

On a sidenote, you don't have to refer to me as Don in every one of your posts. :wink:

Book: Drew Carey's "Dirty Jokes & Beer: Stories of the Unrefined"
I'm sure it will sound like a strange choice to most people but I'd love to be able to write such an entertaining and diverse book. The combination of humourous essays, autobiographical chapters and short stories is brilliant.

Movie Script: Kevin Smith's "Clerks"
I'd also love to be able to achieve what Kevin Smith did with "Clerks": accurately sum up what it feels like to be working in retail (and for that matter, customer service) in an extremely funny way, making a very entertaining movie that's driven by dialogue rather than action sequences, special effects and elaborate sets.

TV Show: M*A*S*H
One of the most successful TV shows of all time, its finale in 1983 garnered the highest rating in the history of television, even beating out every Superbowl to date.

Song: Jeez, which one should I pick? How about Takin' Care Of Business? I don't think I'll ever grow tired of that song.

Book: I'm going to change it up a bit and pick an author. Bernard Cornwell, author of many historical novels about England and the surrounding counrtries. I just love his style of writing and how he makes it seem so realistic, even though he has to make most of it up.

Movie: Can I do this? I want to pick 'Miracle', the story of the 1980 US Olympic Men's Hockey Team, but that's a true story, not something someone wrote. No, I'm wrong, someone must have written the script and scene directions, etc. I just think that movie is perfect; the music, the action, the scenes ...

TV Show: Hockey Night In Canada. Whoever came up with that is a genius.
