Bullshit. Unless you have proof otherwise
Taking a look at Wikipedia, I'll answer number 2: "While highly popular in Australia and New Zealand, it has never been successfully marketed elsewhere. It is notorious for the dislike it generates amongst some foreigners."
And for number 1: "The Food and Drug Administration later stated there was no import ban on Vegemite, and that it was never pulled from American supermarket shelves."

and last i heard, it was banned completely. pulled from shelves, searched for at customs, etc...

Mike added some lettuce and made a little sandwich.
The great Aussie icon - faithfully carried around the world by travellers from downunder - contains folate, which under a technicality, America allows to be added only to breads and cereals.
Kraft spokeswoman Joanna Scott said: "The (US) Food and Drug Administration doesn't allow the import of Vegemite simply because the recipe does have the addition of folic acid.''
"There is no ban on Vegemite," US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) spokesman Mike Herndon told AAP.
Under US regulations, folate can be added only to breads and cereals.
"One of the Vitamin B components (in Vegemite) is folate," Herndon explained.
"In and of itself, it's not a violation. If they're adding folate to it, boosting it up, technically it would be a violation.
