News Out Of New York!
Hey everyone, Clyde Frazier here! I'm here with a news update straight from the New York Knicks training camp. It has been announced by GM, HC Matin Haso that the Knicks have hired a new staff to aid him this year. Ignacio Jimenez was recently hired as an Assistant Head Coach, along with Isiah Thomas, Juan Suarez as an Assistant, Roland Maier is the new Scout and Pedro Ortega was hired as the new Trainer.

Ignacio Jimenez is a native of Italy, but he was born in Argentina, he has been the Italian National team Coach for 4 years, and now he wants to test his skills in the big league.
"He is a very experienced high profile person/coach, and I'm very happy I was able to convince him to come overseas" -Matin Haso. Jimenez prevously spent time in Benetton Treviso, CSKA Moscow and most recently FC Barcelona.
"Ignacio is definately an exellent addition to this team, he has shown the skills you need at this level, now he just needs to continue what he's been doing for several years now". -Jim Dolan

Juan Suarez is from Spain, another exellent pick up by the Knicks, another very experienced professional that knows the game inside and out. Juan has been with FC Barcelona all of his career. And is very much looking forward to this challenge.
"It's a great opportunity for me, to prove myself, and to show the world who I am on the biggest of stages as far as basketball goes. And helping the Knicks, turning them into a winner again really motivates me". -Juan Suarez
He's already helped me out alot, he is an exellent shooting coach, and guard oriented, I can't tell you how happy I am to have him here, he will progress my game in a big way". -Nate Robinson

Roland Maier is a native of Germany, he has been a scout for 10 years, and his breakout came when he essentially got NBA Superstar Dirk Nowitzki into the league, he was then sending scouting reports to teams leading to the Milwaukee Bucks picking him 9th Overall in the 1998 draft. He was never on any staff though so this is his first assignment as an hired NBA Scout.
"I mean what can you say, prolly one of the top 5 best scouts in Europe, outstanding at spotting talent, most so on the offensive end, but very wellrounded, just a great guy to have". -Matin Haso
"I know him very well, I mean he's the reason I'm here, so of course I kept in touch with Roland, I love him, he's a great guy and I'm really happy to see that he is getting his shot in the NBA now". -Dirk Nowitzki on video feed from Dallas when news was given.

Now this was an eyeopener.
Pedro Ortega, he resides and was born in Sweden, his family is from Chile. He is virtually unknown, if you saw him on the train you would not react. Just a normal guy. I had to ask Mr. Haso about this.
Clyde: What are you thinking hiring Pedro? He has never been heard of outside of Sweden.
Matin: He's hardly heard of in Sweden either. *laugh* But I know what he can do, he has a good approach on healing injuries and that's what I'm looking for, you're resumé is one thing, you're people skills and healing skills are quite another. I know Pedro, and he's a good man and the right guy for this job.
I then went to the highest source about this.
Clyde: Mr. Dolan, what do you think about this unknown Swede coming in here as the new Trainer?
Dolan: Well, I did hire an unknown Swede to take over my entire team as both the Head Coach and the General Manager, so what harm can one more do? *laughs* No but seriously, I have full confidence in Matin, and if Pedro is the man he wants, then he's the right man for the job.

I got the opportunity to ask Matin a question about these staff hirings.
Clyde: Did you happen to notice you're staff is completely EUROPEAN? *smile* What is that about? Anything against us american?
Matin: Well of course not, but I had a chance to snag some of the premier coachingstaff talent available and the fact that they are european does not really play into the factor, I know these men that I hired and I know they are the right fit for us.
Clyde: Well you have my trust too, I hope it all works out well. Thank you.
That's all for now from the Knicks training camp, we will be back shortly with more surrounding the team itself. See you next time, on Knicks News update.
