Well, the movies coming out soon might change my mind.

Out of all the movies I've seen in the past few months... I liked Click the most.

Adam Sandler acting seriously (or semi-seriously) was a pleasure to watch plus the fact he is trying to get an actual message (not about penguins...) across to the audeince. It's not that I didn't like his lame and goofiness in his past films (I loved Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore) but it's just that once an actor does it too much... you tend to stop laughing at him and think he's a bit repetitive...

About movies... I guess they not really that bad or anything... just falling short of my expectations. I thought Superman would be awesome but it wasn't that great... Maybe you're right Jae... the execution isn't there. But you do gotta admit, there have been some really stupid plots... I'm sure Snakes on a plane has been mentioned on the forums before right?

Maybe I will check out some foreign movies but... we shall see. I already see enough Asian movies and stuff... I feel like I'm switching to watching tv more these days

I love foreign films... I barely ever watch them but I've never seen one that I didn't enjoy. There was a French one in particular, I can't remember the name but it was about a guy who ran into another guy who was supposedly an old friend of his. Him and his family go back to his house with the other guy and his family, then weird things start to happen... I won't spoil the plot just incase anyone wants to see it, but I'll try and find out what it's called.

IMDB explains the plot better than me

On a hot day in a highway gas station men's room, a man Michel doesn't recognize says they went to school together. He's Harry. He suggests they have a drink, so he and his girlfriend follow Michel and his family to their summer place. Michel is amazed when Harry quotes from memory a poem Michel wrote in school. Harry thinks Michel is a great writer, and he's distressed that Michel hasn't written in years. Harry stays awhile (since his father's death, he's a man of leisure) and sets out to eliminate distractions that might keep Michel from writing.

Same here. Although Irreversible was pretty sick and I didn't quite get Amile, they're always a really nice different perspective that you don't really see in Hollywood movies.

It's fairly recent, 2000 it was made. I must've seen it just after it came out but it's stuck with me for years.

I think I said it before but if you missed it then a good French film to watch is Amelie. Audrey Tautou (she was in a not so great Da Vinci Code) plays in it and she delivered an excellent performance. You gotta watch it.

The thing that separates Baise Moi (French for “kiss” me) from other bloody and brutal films is the fact that real penetration and oral sex is displayed without a care. Since this is the movie thread... here's something for discussion!

Who's a fan of Star Wars? Rank the movies in order of which ones you thought were the best!

1. Empire Strikes Back (The best film in the series, the different sub plots... excitement in building up to the end where the most famous scene/line comes up: "I am your father"...)
2. A New Hope (The original was only outdone by it's sequel... I still remember seeing it the first time!)
3. Revenge of the Sith (The love story killed it, so did the acting... if the acting was better, would have been 1 or 2 on my list...)
4. Return of the Jedi (I liked this one... it's just that some parts got a bit boring for me... don't know why...)
5. Attack of the Clones (Only thing good about this movie was Yoda fighting...)
6. Phantom Menace (This was so bad, I had to look up the name of it... )

Who heard of "The Trailer Park Boys?"

I say this movie on Saturday and it was funny as hell. If it shows in your theatre, I think you guys could give this a chance (sneak in).

I've seen a couple of DVD's as of late.

I watched Twelve & Holding, it's a pretty good movie to watch on DVD, wouldn't go to the theatres for it. The story is not fantastic, but it's gripping enough to keep you interested. The cast consists of a bunch of nobodies, I did recognise the italian shrink who plays Tony Soprano's bitch in the Sopranos and the bad guy from Swat (the movie).

Monster House was another, it was alright, nothing fantastic. The animation was nice and smooth, but A Bug's Life remains my favorite till today. Over The Hedge was even better storywise.

Big Momma's House 2 was quite awful. If you've got jackshit to do and your brain is off (like at 4 a.m.), it's alright. The beach scene had me regurgitating old food though.

I started watching Stephen King's "Thinner", old movie, but I haven't seen it, so I just picked it up. (I buy movies and return them.)

I saw X-Men 3 on DVD. I thought it was a great movie, one of my favorites.

I also saw the departed today. It was good, and even though I watched the Asian version I still felt that it was pretty well made even though it was pretty close to original version (which is never a bad thing).

What I didn't like was that they crammed most of the second and third movies to try and fit it all into one movie.

Did anyone from here watch The Omen? Its about the devil's son and anti-christ.Supposeed to be a horror movie,but it didn't really scare me.Come to think about it,I really expected more from this movie.Also the end really bothers,for some reason it shouldn't end like that in my opinion.Oh well the whole movie was kind of dissapointing so I guess it gets 5/10 from me.

The new Omen just didn't work. It wasn't scary, the deaths of the people were somewhat innovative, but it just didn't have that grip that a horror movie is supposed to have.

The kid was also mis-cast, in the original Omen, you actually feared Damien, in this one you just thought it was a sequel to the Problem Child series. You wanted to smack his punk ass. The music, which also plays a big factor in creating a scary atmosphere was lacking, overall it was a bad movie.

It's been a while since I've been creeped out by a "horror" movie though, the closest movie that came to doing so was "The Descent".

Edit: I watched "Edmond" last night. It was a good movie, it kept me interested. Most likely it'll contain spoilers, read at your own risk.

Edmond is played by William H. Macy (who did really well in the role), he's just a 40+ guy who is fed up with the life he's leading, one fine day he's had enough. He breaks up with his wife and decides he's never coming back. The scene where he is breaking it off with his wife is downright hilarious. It's sort of dark humor, since it is a serious subject they are talking about, but just the way he reacts to his wife's histronics is downright hilarious. So bland and indifferent, too funny.

Anyways, he ventures out in to the night and with the help of some random guy comes to the conclusion he needs to get laid, he heads over to a get laid place and in comes Denise Richards, they discuss price but they can't agree. (Again, hilarious scene.) That's it for Richards though, which honestly sucks monkey nuts.

Alright, he continues, goes to a peep show & this scene also made me crack a smile, cheap bastard that he is. Next up is a whore house and in comes Mena Suvari, also a very short scene but also amusing on it's own.

During the night Edmond has begun to lose his mind, slowly and the viewer is shown this...finally he meets Julia Styles and fucks her and then in his own fucked up state of mind ends up killing her. From here on out it's a downward spiral. The train scene is also really funny, shocking yet made me crack a smile.

Finally Edmond lands up in jail and...well I'll leave it till there, it's worth the watch, not the best movie ever, but it's good time pass.

Problem Child series

I liked those movies. The 1st and 2nd, not the 3rd though. Mindless entertainment.

I really thought The Omen would stand up to its name.Now I see that I was wrong.
I don't even think that I can call The Omen a horror movie.It almost doesn't have anything scary in it.Except that old guy with the weird eye and burned out face .The only part that makes your heart beat faster,is where Robert and the reporter dig up the old grave of Robert's son.And thoose dog's jump them,but it wasn't really scary just the element of suprise.

Jackal by your review Edmond sounds like a good movie.I will probably check it out next week.

Pera, if you want to watch something spooky, try to find "The Descent", it's pretty good, it made me jump a few times.

I just finished watching Thinner, the only part I found any good in the damn movie was in the beginning stages, where the Gypsy offers to show her cleavage and lifts her skirt.

I mean if that's the best the movie's got to offer, why make it in the first place?

I watched The Guardian last night. It was a so-so movie. I didnt really get attached to any of the characters so I didnt find it that great... better than the Grudge 2 though.
