Indiana Pacers win after the fantastic 12 : 0 run
October 16th, 2006

Jermaine O'Neal scored 25 points tonight and had the biggest influence in the game tonight

INDIANA PACERS 96 : 95 MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
4th quarter intervention

[ Pacers boxscore ][ Timberwolves boxscore ]

Tonight Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves met at the Conseco Fieldhouse Center, the match between 2 ambitious teams, with great forwards as the team leaders: Jermaine O'Neal at the Pacers and Kevin Garnett at the Timberwolves. O'Neal won this unofficial fight and got his Player of the Game title tonight.

All the game was very close, only the 4 point lead was the biggest jump. The halftime ended with a 1 point advantage by the Pacers. At the 3rd quarter they increased their lead to 6 points. Jermaine O'Neal and Al Harrington were the leading scorers at the Pacers, while Kevin Garnett and Ricky Davis at the Wolves. So the final 4th quarter started, with Wolves' wishes to close the game.

And Timberwolves take the initiative and scored some important layups and dunks, especially by Ricky Davis, which you can find at the end of this recap. Pacers were still fighting, but Jamaal Tinsley was struggling with several missed shots and Timberwolves take the lead, they were leading 81 : 80 now. Coach Rick Carlisle asked for a timeout with the new hopes. He benched Jamaal Tinsley, letting to step up for Sarunas Jasikevicius. Saras felt that he may be the hero of the game, so he was very concentrated.

And timeout finished and the game was resumed. But then, despite the Pacers timeout, Wolves were storming the place with excellent dunks by Ricky Davis and Kevin Garnett. So the score became 93 : 84 for the Wolves. Only very optimistic Pacers fans believed that they still can win at the remaining of the 2 minutes. But then two good passes from Sarunas Jasikevicius to Jermaine O'Neal, the accurate layup by Marquis Daniels and the score is closed to 3 at the remaining of 1 minute. Wolves missed the very important shot and Danny Granger used the opportunity and closed the lead to 1 point.

The most interesting minutes came then, and with a joy to specators at Conseco Field Wolves lost the ball and another shot by Al Harrington was made, after that followed another points from Pacers, which recorded the 12 : 0 run at the end of the game. The score was 96 : 93 for the Pacers now, and Wolves had last 10 seconds to finish the game gaining the overtime. But Randy Foye had only the ability to attack from the 2 point line and made the jumper. Only 1.6 seconds left for the Pacers and they used that time perfectly, not letting to be fauled, such ending the game 96 : 95.

Rick Carlisle was happy only with the score and with the last 2 minutes of the game. We can't play as we played at the first 8 minutes at the 4th quarter. And the whole game didn't make him very good feelings. We must improve our game at the backcourt, Jamaal and Sephen must play better, also I'm missing the decent game from Saras and Daniels. So the main purpose for us at the remaining preseason games will be to strenghten our backcourt.

Now Pacers will have the trip to Denver to face with Denver Nuggets, after then, they will return to Indianapolis to play against Bobcats and the last 3 remaining games will be at Minnesota, Charlotte and Utah.

Granger has played well yet again, that's good stuff. (Y)

Since it's preseason, why not experiment a little? I'd love to see the subs get a little more playing time, especially Shawne Williams.

 @ Mike James getting 12 assists.

Nice win, good to see you being able to come back under pressure, was it the momentum feature that helped in the run? Are you using the Default EA jeresys? Cos in the JO pic they dont look as bad...

Thanks. Yes I realised that I really don't give enough time for the rookies. You will see Williams with more playing time next game, I swear :)

Yeah i guess it was the momentum feature, because it was way easier to score and Wolves just was missing the shot after shot. And yes, these are default jerseys.

Nuggets didn't let Pacers to win without 3 leaders
October 18th, 2006

Image
Carmelo Anthony had a big night with 30 points, sinking Pacers with the last minute shots

INDIANA PACERS 109 : 113 DENVER NUGGETS

Marquis Daniels | 16 points, 7 rebounds.--------+--Carmelo Anthony | 30 points, 5 rebounds.
Shawne Williams | 20 points, 4 rebounds.-------+--Earl Boykins | 14 points, 15 assists.
Danny Granger | 16 points, 6 rebounds.------+-----Kenyon Martin | 18 points, 9 rebounds.
Sarunas Jasikevicius | 10 points, 10 assists.--------Earl Smith | 20 points. 3 assists

Indiana Pacers arrived to Colorado without 3 leaders of the team: Jermaine O'Neal, Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson. Coach Rick Carlisle wanted to give more playing time to the rookies and other young guys, so giving them a challenge to beat the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. They were fighting well, but unfortunately lost 109 : 113.

This was the game with not so good defense, but a perfect offense, teams made more than 50 % their shots. Carmelo Anthony was the outstanding leader on the court with 30 points and 5 rebounds, he made some really important shots at the last minute, such bringing the victory to Denver. From the Pacers the best in points was Shawne Williams, scoring 20 points with great percentage, missing only 3 shots in the whole game.

At the start of the game Pacers started to dominate and ended the 1st quarter with perfect score 35 : 22. But then Nuggets started to close the game more and more with the help by Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin. Martin's powerful dunks were really impressive tonight, one of them you can see in the highlights at the bottom of the recap. Nuggets closed the score by 8 points before the halftime show, but Pacers lead was still noticeable 65 : 57.

The following quarter was more than a disaster for the Pacers, they had only 13 points in this quarter and let Nuggets to have 27, so the score became 84 : 78 for the Nuggets. Earl Smith was demonstrating pretty good dunks and had very good influence to the game, while none of the Pacers was even worth to mention at this quarter. Thats probably because the new guys were playing the most in this quarter, such as Rawle Marshall, Josh Powell and Orien Greene. Marshall had 5 points in this game, Greene had no points and missed all the shots, while Josh Powell had pretty good game with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

At the last quarter Pacers coach was trying to fing some good roster selection between experienced guys and talented young guys. And with the help from Sarunas Jasikevicius and rookie Shawne Williams seemed that Pacers found the rythm of the game again. Saras was demonstrating some good passing skills, while Williams, as well as Granger ended attacks with great layups and dunks. The last minute of the game and Marquis Daniels tied the game with the nice shot, he had 16 points in the whole game and other good stats as well, such as 7 rebounds and 5 assists. But this game belonged to Carmelo, he made some great cluch shots and Pacers couldn't do anything. So the scoreboard showed the score 113 : 109.

Coach Rick Carlisle was quite happy with the game, especially with the performance by Shawne Williams. "I hope this guy will improve time by time and will be the very important addition to our tem in the future"- he said. He also was happy with other young guys, such as Josh Powell, Rawle Marshall, James White. Also Marquis Daniels was very effective to our team with great all around performance. And how I could forget these great passes from Saras, he reminded that guy, who killed everyone in Europe with these assists. Overall, despite the loss, we must be happy that we were playing well without 3 other guys.

Now the Pacers will return to their home to Indianpolis to play against the Charlotte Bobcats before the road trip.

Check some highlights: [ 1 ][ 2 ][ 3 ]

Sorry for no boxscores, but the game crashed as I pressed the quit the game button. This is the first time for me, I wish I won't suffer this in the future. So only the top performers. Enjoy.

See what I mean? You give Shawne Williams some playing time and he goes off for 20

There's still a lot of depth in the SF/SG spots though... Hope that he'll be able to log some playing time when the regular season starts.

Gutted about your game crashing. You dont seem to be having too much trouble with the PG bug.... I dont seem to have problems either, I just set the CPU's offensive playbook and they ususally set up plays most of the time (Y)

Yeah I also love when Saras has so many assists, not only in the game, but in the real games too..

Yes, you right, I'm planning to make him as a Granger's backup at SF, so he will get the enough playing time for sure.

Don't know how others have this issue, but I don't. I even don't use playbooks, just need to defend the PGs properly.

Indiana Pacers celebrated the flawless victory
October 19th, 2006

Image
Sarunas Jasikevicius was leading Pacers to the victory with the 14 points and 14 assists

INDIANA PACERS 115 : 83 CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

[ Pacers boxscore ][ Bobcats boxscore ]

Indiana Pacers celebrated the biggest victory in this year preseason games, defeating Charlotte Bobcats. Bobcats looked very badly, while Pacers just dominated. The 2nd quarter was flawless for the team and that was the decisive moment of the game.

The game started with some attacks by the Bobcats, but soon Pacers tied the game and were leading all the quarter by some points, in which Stephen Jackson made his consecutive 5 shots and had 11 points tonight. Later he was benched trying to give more minutes to the rookies. So White and Williams appeared on the court and ended the quarter 28 : 24 for the Pacers. At the very start of 2nd quarter Sarunas Jasikevicius started his appearance tonight and it was great to be exact. At the 2nd quarter O'Neal and Harrington were benched too and Harrison and Powell stepped up. Saras became as the emontional leader at the court guiding young guys to the flawless game. 40 points in this quarter made, many of these after the nice assists by Jasikevicius. Pacers defense let Bobcats to score only 18 points in this quarter and only Adam Morrison was still fighting as he can, others were just stunned. So 2nd quarter ends and 26 points advantage by the Pacers.

Seemed that it is not enough for the Pacers and they didn't stop playing well. When the score reached 38 points difference for the Pacers, it was more than indecorous, so Bobcats finally started to play some defense and decent offense. The score was closed a bit at the end of the quarter, but later they just surrended and the last quarter was just the waste of time. Pacers tried to use the different offense combinations and various roster selections. So the game ended 115 : 83.

Pacers were shooting amazingly well. 63 % of the shots were accurate, while Bobcats made only 46 %. Also there was a huge difference in assists. 35 for 13. 7 players from Pacers scored the numbers in double digits, while in Bobcats - only 3, and only Adam Morrison is worth mentioning with the good game. He demonstrting the good shot selection and defended quite well. This game was the 2nd consecutive good game by Josh Powell, he made 11 in last game and 12 tonight. Also who could forget Sarunas Jasikevicius, the player of the game, with 14 points and the same number of the assists.

Coach Rick Carlisle was very happy with the game, especially with the good overall team play. He was happy with the amount of the assists and especially the game by Saras. "Seems that the team started to play the team game with lot of passing and not rushed attacks. I know, Bobcats are not so good, thats why we suceeded so much tonight, but we demonstrated really good game, and I hope we can do better and better in the future."- he also said. The Pacers will have the road trip in several days to finish the preseason games with 3 remaining matches. Jamaal Tinsley will be placed at the IL, to give the last chance to the Orien Greene.

Nice win. I love your presentation though, your pictures are great. A good young PG who fits the Pacers offence (I think) would be Luke Ridnour. Jackson 5-5 in 9 minutes, starter?
