I asked Jackal to write a formal letter to the 2kSports that would be sent along with your signatures. He already sent it to me (and will hopefully post it here, so you, the community, can review it) and is - IMHO - exactly what we need. As of now, we have around 120 legit signatures and that is also the number we're probably going to send to the 2kSports. With a little bit of luck, our voice will be heard.

This is what I came up with fellows, at first when Fenix asked me (of all people) to write the letter, I was hesitant, but I decided to give it a shot.

I did look at Andrew's & Ben's letters and did borrow heavily, I don't think they will mind but just that it's out there in the open.

Lastly, if the community members feel they would prefer to go in another direction with the letter or have someone else redo it or whatever you guys want to do with it, be my guest. I've never actually written something on this scale so I was a bit in the mist as to what to put in it. I tried to convey our frustration with EA sports and tried to show there are people willing to buy their product. Anyways, read it for yourself...

Dear NBA 2K Series Production Team,

I am writing this letter on the behalf of an extensive basketball gaming community, mainly the users of the PC platform.

Year after year the users of every platform are given the choice between two well known game producing companies, namely EA Sports and 2K Sports, every platform except the PC platform. There are a lot of gamers that still prefer to play their games on their PC’s instead of purchasing a gaming console. This has one big advantage, that being the ability to modify the game with the help of an online community. Another advantage is being able to get new and updated roster patches to add another level to the gaming experience.

The PC gamers have never had a choice; they have always been forced to purchase a product of EA Sports if they wished to play some simulation basketball on their computers. Until a few years ago, this wasn’t a problem. As the years have gone by, EA Sports has taken its clients for granted. EA Sports knows that given there is no other company competition on the PC platform, they will be able to release unsatisfying product and given the consumer doesn’t have a choice, we will still end up buying their product and adding to their revenue.

This is why this year; a whole online community that used to once upon a time shun 2K Sports products is pleading with your company to at least consider releasing future installments of the NBA 2K series on the PC platform.

This has benefits for PC gamers as well as possible benefits for the NBA 2K series. The PC gamers will at last have a choice between two games instead of just one. They will be able to spend their hard earned money on a game they actually enjoy playing instead of just settling for a game that slightly resembles a basketball simulating game.
The possible benefits for you as a company are most logically bigger profits. A lot of former EA Sports fans have tried the 2K Series and are very impressed with the game. A lot of basketball gaming fans would spend their money on the 2K Series if it were released on PC.

Hundreds of basketball loving fans are requesting your company to at least try and release the NBA 2K Series on the PC platform.
At least try it for NBA 2K8, see how it goes, if the numbers are satisfying, stick with it. If the numbers aren’t satisfying, you will at least be able to say “we tried”. I, and countless other gamers, are certain that your product will hit the mark with the PC gamers.

I hereby enclose a list of former (and a few current) EA Sports fanatics who are pleading with your company to try and release the NBA 2K Series for the PC platform.

I don't know, i don't think i'd be convinced if i recieved this letter. I don't know much about anything, but i'll try to give some suggestions to make this post slightly more constructive. A bit less rambling, and more direct intentions might be a better idea.

It might be worth pointing out that the "hundreds" that we speak of is from this community alone. And that there would be more than just hundreds that would buy the game?

Not a bad effort at all...but i agree with Nick. I could take a stab at it myself...but Ben being the guy already making news with his letter to EA should be the guy leading this letter. Why? Chances are that VC has or will read about the original letter.

There's another thing we need to discuss - who should we send the petition to? 2k Sports don't have any e-mail adresses of their employees on the website (is probably the most suitable one) and just sending the petition presents a risk that everything will be forgotten. We could make another open letter, this time to 2k Sports, which will only further show our discontent with the NBA Live series.

Also, how could we get hold of a e-mail adress of someone at the high position@2k Games? Should we send an e-mail to partnerships@2ksports.com saying that we represent the NLSC and are hoping to get in touch with a producer of 2k series or something like that?

Thanks for everyone who signed the petition. That only shows how many people are unsatisfied with Live 07 and Live series as a whole. We deserve much more for the money and support we gave to the EA Sports in all these years.

Agreed. I admit that if the letter was written (signed) by Benji would be more powerful considering that he also led the open letter to EA, but I believe that Jackal did a good job and in the end, they both represent the NLSC, which is what it matter. Some tweaks here and there and it will be just fine. I'd like to see a bigger emphasis on the NLSC and benji's open letter being mentioned.

I think having NBA Live players pleading for a NBA 2K title for PC is already great indication towards the lack of quality of the Live series. You shouldn't have to remind or suggest any financial aspects in the letter because our interests and eagerness for a PC release would definately be the only concern to 2K sports. I think 2K sports is smart enough to realise the importance of consumer satisfaction.
