Thanks everyone again for comments

double_g, yes agree, they had quite good offseason. And yeah glad we have White, I'm sure we will see lot of dunks.

marcusmirx, I was thinking of that trade idea, but I don't want to make any crazy trades. I will try to find some realistic trades to make this team better.

I just have to admit, the Pacers would have been a team i´d take if I made a dynasty, Harrington/O´Neal is just very cool, especially if they get it done to simulate O´Neal correctly (imho the inside scorer last year was not his playing style)

Marquis Daniel is also a cool acquisition, although Austin Croshere´s 3pt shooting and hustling can be important.

But Pacers are a cool team, definitely.
Do you have a starting five in mind ?
And will you try to boost Granger or Shawne Williams ?

Im kinda intrested in live at the moment ;)

I think the starting 5 will contain O'Neal, Harrington, Granger, Jackson and Tinsley at the start. But it may change, because I'll be looking to trade away Tinsley or Jackson.

Granger will be my main training guy I think.

Of course PG as a playmaker.

I hate that Rick Carlisle see him as a SG. He is just a playmaker and he loves to play in this position

Who will earn the spot on the roster?
October 5th, 2006

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Rawle Marshall, Josh Powell, John Edwards, Orien Greene, Jimmie "Snap" Hunter and Sean Lampley still have no spot on the Pacers roster. Lets compare these players and guess who will earn a spot.

Rawle Marshall and Josh Powell were playing at Dallas Mavericks previous season. They came to Indiana after the 4 players trade, in which Anthony Johnson was sent to Dallas Mavericks, while Darell Armstrong, Josh Powell and Rawle Marshall came to Indiana Pacers. Rawle Marshall was averaging 3.1 PPG in 23 games played (9 started) playing 10.5 minutes per game. In NBDL his stats were better. He averaged 17.4 PPG in 21 games (17 started) playing 30.2 minutes per game. Josh Powell was avewraging 3.0 PPG in 37 games (2 started) playing 11.6 minutes per game. He made the appearance in playoffs in 6 games, but haven't scored.

Orien Greene was playing in Boston Celtics in his rookie season. He was selected by Celtics in second round (53rd pick overall) of 2005 NBA Draft. He was averaged 3.2 PPG in 80 games (5 started) playing 15.4 minutes per game. Claimed on waivers by Indiana.

John Edwards was acquired by Indiana Pacers along with Al Harrington for a 1st round pick from Atlanta. He averaged here 1.8 PPG in 40 games (4 started) playing 7.4 minutes per game. Before last season he played his rookie season in Indiana Pacers.

Jimmie "Snap" Hunter was playing in CBA last season and had quite an impressive season here. Averaged 27.6 PPG, but hadn't led in the scoring, due to not enough games played. Sean Lampley played 2 seasons in NBA so far at Miami and Golden State 3 years ago.

BTW, updated the first posts. All the settings, roster, preseason schedule and off-season transactions are now available.

Rawle Marshall gets my vote. A starving man's Josh Howard, but I still think he can develop into something interesting.

I also like Marshall most of them, but I will go with real life roster. And if he is released, I will release him too. BTW, there is a poll in http://www.nba.com/pacers/ asking "Which player is most likely to earn a spot on the roster?", and Hunter is leading. I'm not so sure he is the best player of these.

I'd go with Marshall, I think he has more potential.

EDIT. BTW what roster are you going to use?

Its gonna be hard to choose who to make it.
The people who I think should make it are ...

In order :

1. Rawle Marshall
2. Orien Greene
3. Josh Powell
4. Snap Hunter
5. Sean Lampley
6. Josh Edward

Thanks for the opinion Sam.

Played the first game with Pacers and it is really hard to play, knowing that I will need to do the cpu subs too. Yeah and seems that I completely forgot how to play this game, loss at the all-star level...

Indiana Pacers start preseason with loss to Nets
October 11th, 2006

Image
Al Harrington scored 28 points in his first game with Indiana Pacers after the 2 seasons

INDIANA PACERS 98 : 114 NEW JERSEY NETS

[ Pacers boxscore ][ Nets boxscore ]

At the first Pacers preseason game, they were defeated by New Jersey Nets. The game winner was quite obvious at the end of 3rd quarter, when Vince Carter began his show. Pacers couldn't do anything later and the scoreboard marked the first loss by Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse Center.

Just before the game it was obvious that Stephen Jackson, Jeff Foster and Darrell Armstrong will be on inactive list and won't appear on the court. The Coach wanted to test young players more, fighting for the last spots on the roster, such as Rawle Marshall and Josh Powell. They were placed even on starting 5 along with Al Harrington, Jermaine O'Neal and Jamal Tinsley.

The start of the game was more succesful to Pacers, they managed to gain the 6 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. But later, the game started to become equal, as Pacers offense began to struggle, Vince Carter and rookie Marcus Williams made a lot of great attacks. So only the 3 point lead by the Pacers after the halftime.

The 3rd quarter was decisive, when Vince Carter had 20 points in it. He was showing some highlight stuff, demostrating amazing dunks. Pacers defence couldn't do anything. Only Al Harrington of the Pacers was still fighting. He made some important layups and the lead by Nets was closed to 7 points, but at the very end of the quarter Jason Kidd ended some succesful attacks and complicated the events again.

Nets tried to end everything very soon and did it succesfully, the lead reached 19 points by them in middle of the last quarter and coach Rick Carlisle put all the leaders on the bench and let to play for young players. The game ended with 16 points victory by New Jersey Nets 114 : 98.

Vince Carter was awarded as the Player of the game scoring 39 points in this game. Jason Kidd and future successor Marcus williams helped him the best and had 19 and 16 points accordingly. Al Harrington worth to be mentioned the most of the Pacers. He had 28 points and 12 rebounds. Jermaine O'Neal added 19 points, scoring with excellent percentage. None of remaing players of the Pacers had points in double digits.

Coach Rick Carlisle after the game said, that he is happy with some player's performance, but some others need to work very hard. He didn't worry about the loss, it was just the first preseason game and some important players didn't play. He was very happy of 2 big men performance. Jermaine impressed me with the excellent shooting percent and Al showed some leader abilities. We hope we can show better basketball in the next game against Utah Jazz.

Remember it's preseason. Hahaha.
Shiet tough game though.
Carter been lighting up against you that game and made a few hilight dunks.
Williams did good off the bench for the Nets.
Seems like you subbed for the computer right
I am liking those Al stats as well as Granger.
Next time, try playing Powell at the PF. More suitable position.
Maybe thats why Carter blew up 39 Points on him.
But overall good shit man (y)
