Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

It was brilliant...they saw otherwise...

EA with the 2003, turned their back to many things, good things.

They turned their back to the real "realistic fans", to some good actions (block for instance), and to some good options :

The replays. It was awsome in the 2001, we could record our best shots, best dunks, best blocks in video. We could watch the video without beeing in the game.
WoW, that was priceless !

I hope they'll do the same for the 2004.
Is that so hard to do ?
Is it taking so much place on a CD ?
Nah I think not.
Beside, everytime they show us a video of the new NBA LIVE, they use that kind of process ! WHY CAN'T WE ??

I want the "record in video the replays" option back.
Don't you ?

Are u for real...?

Saving replays is really pointless. If u have played at least 5 games ... u're aware of all the moves dunks and other animations in the game.
To mnake a good basketball-game all that matters is the gameplay ... and ofcourse they could add the custom team featore to make some other teams. But i would never waste my time with watching my replays...

For live 2003...Ea said something about not having enough time to implement saving replays...though they said they wanted to.

Yes, gameplay & flexibility with the options, that's the key for an excellent game.

In my opinion, saving replays is not a very important option, comparing to ingame saving for example, this is basic... Hope they don't pass over these kind of details, they are the difference between a good game and a great game

i would acually like to see saving replays in the game, mostly because say in one on one or something you just pull like a combo of dribble moves than you dunk right on top of him. And say your playing against your friend or something, than you know. But ya i really like to ingame save also.

Just another symptom of a deeper problem...that being that the Live team is incompetent. They have a flawed game engine for years...causing them to have to spend tons of time building a new engine from the ground up...thus features have to be "re-made" every year making it nigh impossible for them to build upon what they already have.

Maybe there's a slim chance the guys are sticking with the 2003 engine...which means they can actually not have to redo features they already made in previous years...then they can be like the Madden and FIFA teams and steadily build a great game instead of constantly taking more features OUT than they put in.

But I really think that replay is one of the important part in live series

Remember?NLSC have the replay section in the old days...people can share their awesome play with others...I believe this is another interesting part of Live series. I always download replays to see the great play of other people-and learn from them.

Actually, saving replay doesn't mean only to save special moves and dunks...co-operation and good finishing are also worth saving.

By the way...I also miss the ingame save option so much

I think NBA Live 2003 would have been a great game, if it did not use real NBA players.

Consider that you could play a fast paced, 48 minute highlight reel game. Sure, it wasn't realistic, but you could have fun doing so. However, we're all NBA fans and we know that Chris Whitney should not explode for 45 points, nor take the amount of shots that he does. We know that it shouldn't be so easy to hold Shaq to 10 points and that Derek Fisher isn't the number one option on the Lakers.

But what if all the players were imaginary? If the game wasn't "NBA Live" but some imaginary league? I think most of would have more fun with it, since the game wouldn't seem so unrealistic.

But the fact of the matter is, NBA Live is based on the National Basketball Association and we want real players and realistic gameplay. Still, it would be interesting to see if the gameplay would be more enjoyable with fake players.

kinda like NBA Street, hey? but not even have it on the street. Like you said andrew, an imagiary league. that'd be a pretty cool game, but they wouldn't do that, they would just make an NBA Street Vol.3 or something

They probably wouldn't do it, but it would be an interesting experiment. If you replaced all of the NBA players with imaginary players, and called it the North American Pro Basketball League, would NBA Live 2003 be an enjoyable game?

First of all, I still enjoyed NBA Live 2003, but like everyone else I was bothered by elements of the game. But would the style of gameplay be more enjoyable if NBA players were taken out of the equation? With imaginary players in an imaginary league, there would be no comparison to real-life counterparts. You could create your own legends, your own records and your own history, without being bound by the knowledge that it isn't realistic.

Sounds good in theory, but people (myself included) want a game that is realistic because it features real players and realistic gameplay, not because the players are imaginary.

yes, i agree, i want the Nba Live series as realistic as it can be, or they could make the game with the league call IBL or IBA, International Basketball League or Assoication. or something like that than it could have teams all over the world. I bet the NBA will be something like that in about 20 years or so... lol

That's the idea, but I doubt EA or any other developer would do it. There's more demand for an NBA licensed game than one based on an imaginary league. But if there was such a game, it would work with Live 2003's style of gameplay, and that's my point. :)

The topic was about the quality of NBA Live 2003, so my post was not really off-topic.

This topic talks about the replays wich for me is an important thing !

Let me explain : I've played an entire season with a friend in nba live 2001 (PC). He took the Lakers, and I took Portland.
We had good memories, fun and all...but at the end, things are getting confusing....and that's exactly were the replays matters.
Just to remind and watch again what happened in that game, or in that one, creating our TOP TEN !!!!!!
To watch over and over again the three point of Horry in the playoffs with 0.7 second left in the decisive game, to tie the game. (NBA LIVE action...remind you something ?)

It's priceless guys to make LIVE live forever.

I loved the save replay option, i hope they bring it back too. Sometimes you'll pull off some great play that never happens, and you'll want save it, or maybe some funny graphic glitch will happen that's worth saving. (Note to EA: i don't encourage you to put funny glitches ingame).

Bring back Save replay. (Y)

Yeah I agree. like If I pull off a move that would only be possible in NBA Street, like a behind your back, in between your opponents legs crossover, I wanna show it off. Or If my game glitches on some crazy sh!t, I could show people for a quick laugh.

If it's not in NBA Live 2004 already, I doubt they'll put it in now.

it is in the late stage of the game all they gotta do is finish the offseason roster update and a few graphics update here and there..i highly doubt that they'll put it in for 2004...
