Yes it is my rating. And I'm surprised you were disappointed, because I have yet to hear anything bad about this album from anyone that likes The Roots at all. Other than lukewarm response to "Don't Feel Right".cklitsie wrote:Just wondering Colin, is this your rating? I mean I'm kinda dissapointed by the album, no way it's their best so what rating would the older ones get then?
As for The Roots discography
1 - Things Fall Apart/Illadelph Halflife
3 - Do You Want More?!!!???!/Game Theory
5 - Phrenology
6 - Organix
7 - The Tipping Point (and even this isn't a bad album)
Even though it's the same group, it's so hard to compare the top 4 albums I've got there because they are so different. DYWM is a very jazz-influenced album with improvisation. IH is very hip-hop orientated and is harder. TFA has a bit of a native tongues feel and is the goal for every 'backpack' rapper out there. GT is a much darker album featuring Black Thought's best lyrics, and a really full musical sound. It also really feels like an album. Trying to pick the best song is hard because there really aren't any weak spots or true standouts. Everything is dope for it's own reasons.
