New 10 man freestyle vids on ea's site

Postby thetruth on Wed Jul 30, 2003 9:51 am

New vids explaining motiong capture for 10 man freestyle. They even show the motion capture sessions.

Also they show the cover of the box with the player hidden. I think its Vince Carter, but thats just my opinion.

Hmmmm.........? Looks like Vince, but I'm not sure--Vince didn't really have a good season last year.--Could it be Bron?

Could be Payton or Marbury... The guy seems to have an armband on his left arm...

I just saw the vids... they are nice, very good, specially the one featuring the low post battles... My main complaint is that players kinda "slide" on the floor... It can get annoying... Also, some Kidd & Jefferson animations are not fluid as I'd like them to be...

The problem of "slide" is quite serious in NBA live series...to be honest, the 2K3 did better in that aspect.

I saw the cover image before I read this post and my first reaction was Payton (in a Lakers jersey of course). Looking at it now I'm thinking maybe also Jefferson...but would EA probably wouldn't have two New Jersey Nets on the cover in a row...

saw this at OS. Maybe it's Kobe, EA will wait till the verdict is out. If he's guilty it'll be Vince and if he's innocent it'll be him.

I first hand thought it was Vince, but seeing that picture, it could be Kobe... oh well, I say its either one of them: Kobe or Carter: Final...If they go on basis of success this season: Kobe (Y)

It can't be Kobe, as he's under contract with another company (whoever makes the Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside series).

That headshape is too thin to be Kobe's. It's Payton or Marbury, I think.

Well...a good sleuth always gathers clues...

From looking at it we know...

-The player is bald...

-The player is wearing both an armband and a wristband on his left arm...

-The jersey the player is wearing (which should be the away jersey in order to contrast with the white EA logo) is probably highneck...

The likely suspects: Stephon Marbury, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Gary Payton

Long shots: Antawn Jamison, Mike Bibby, Jason Richardson, Lamar Odom.

I'll just assume it isn't one of the long shots. Gary Payton doesn't wear armbands for the most part, and he's also slightly over the hill...so I'd discount him. The only evidence against Marbury is that he's worn an armband for years on his RIGHT arm and nothing on his left arm. He's pretty consistent with that. He also has a distinct headshape that doesn't necessarily seem to be it.

That would cut it down to two bald players who are stars and who happen to wear armbands and wristbands on their left arm--Kevin Garnett and Vince Carter. The Timberwolves don't wear highneck jerseys...and Kevin Garnett has already been on the cover of an NBA Live.

So my official guess for a player that fits all the evidence:

Vince Carter.

I'm really surprised they didn't put Vince on the early shots with Yao (especially given that Vince and Yao have played each other in China) and then have T-Mac be the cover man. That would seem to be the logical choice...given that T-Mac has more buzz and relevance.

The only reason I couldn't see it being Vince is because of all the injuries and the soft label he's gotten. I think that has effected his marketability
