Hey, I liked Blank Check. I just saw Grandma's Boy last night, I laughed so much I had to watch it a second time today.

Hey, I liked Blank Check.

I had small print that said "I actually did like it". I just didn't think it was the greatest movie of all time.

Saw Idlewild last night after reading on Box Office Mojo how it was riddled with curse words and wsnt all that. After watching the movie I have to wonder if it was the same movie I saw. It didnt contain any more swears than any other movie (ex. Clerks 2 which everyone loved). They said something down the lines of it being a long music video and that lead me to think maybe the person writing the review was some old happy go lucky lady who probably was in love with "Rent" (which I thought wasnt that good). Ah well, I enjoyed it, I fiddled my toes. Worth the money if you ask me.

Just saw Why We Fight and The Matador. Why We Fight is a decent documentary, but it's not very organized. The interesting aspect of the movie focuses on the military-industrial complex that seems to be controlling Americans. The Matador is pretty silly, where an assassin makes friends with some random businessman. The plot was cute, but nothing great.

Is anybody going to see Crossover?

Movie makers just never learn....

I'm a Mortal Kombat fan and all, but I'd rather look at CoolMac's novel than go through that pile of turd again. The first one was mediocre at best.

Just seen The Prestige, Children of Men and The Fountain trailers. This year is going to be interesting.

Thu Aug 31, 2006 1:18 am

Yea, I am really interested in seeing the Prestige and Children of men (Maybe Prestige more). Cant wait for it to come out as there seems to be nothing much left thats worthy of being watched. I remember the days there were good movies coing out every week, its really slacking off in these times.

Saw Clerks 2 last night, it was alright. I hate Dante and since the whole thing revolves around him it wasn't that easy to enjoy, but there were some really funny scenes.

Dante is the guy who doesnt rip on LOTR right? Cos the guy who does that is a fucking champion..

"i turn chicks down left and right"
"your chicks are your..left and right"

Dante is the fat guy with the goatee.

I thought Idlewild was great, just saw it last night. I thought just the opposite of that reviewers point about a long music video. All the musical numbers really added an extra something to the movie. Even though just the plot of it was doing just fine in making it interesting, the music added an extra touch. Especially during Rooster/Big Boi's chase scene.

Just saw Ultraviolet last night. The plot sucks, sucks, sucks, but the special effects were very cool.

Sun Sep 03, 2006 4:58 am

Ultraviolet is the worst movie ever. I got bored of it after 30 mins. The best movie this summer had to be Pirates of the Caribbean, Clerks 2, X3 and Miami Vice.

Sun Sep 03, 2006 2:23 pm

Pirates of the Carribean sucked balls.. So did Miami Vice. Just my opinion though.

Sun Sep 03, 2006 2:46 pm

Pirates rocked... and I think talladega nights was one of the better movies this summer.

Sun Sep 03, 2006 3:05 pm

A lot of people said Miami Vice was a stupid/boring movie. They expected action just like the movie Collateral because Mann was the director for both movies. Miami Vice had a lot of talking and that what made the movie somewhat boring. The movie delivered good action when it was appropriate.
The camera angles in the movie were just amazing, the view they showed when the plane was in the sky, and when the two undercover agents got gunned down in the car were simply incredible. In conclusion the movie was great, it didn't have Bad Boys type action but the story and other visual aspects made the movie great.

Saw Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It was horrible, imo. The only cool thing about the movie was the cars and it didn't even get enough screen time or attention.
- Spoilers be damned -
The logic of using drifting in the race scenes or the movie itself just escapes me. Sure it was practical to do in the parking lot scene because of the narrow and tight spaces, but in the mountain scene, what's the point of drifting? An experienced driver can race down that mountain without even resorting to drifting, provided that the car has good handling and acceleration which most race cars have, even drift cars.
Real life drift races are mostly about style i.e. the way you drift thorugh the track, with finishing first in the race a second priority.
Your life is on the line and you want to race down a mountain looking stylish doing it by drifting rather than depending on racing fundamentals? The deal was just to finish first and not accumulate style points, geez.
In summary:
- Cars not given enough attention.
- The chicks are not "hawt". Even the lead chick isn't.
- Bow-wow should be shot.
- Makes SoaP look like masterpiece theater.

Clerks II are fucking awesome. I agree with Jae, Dante isn't exactly the most lovable guy around, but the intespecies erotica, Rosario Dawson and some really cool debates make worth it.

Mon Sep 04, 2006 5:10 am

Just saw Napoleon Dynamite. The movie is fucking retarded, it's not even funny. Beavis and Butthead Do America was more enjoyable to watch than that crappy movie. Makes me wonder why many people find it funny, unless they're retards themselves.

Mon Sep 04, 2006 5:23 am

The mountains they showed in FnF:TD was the place where drifting started. Some kids used to go down the mountains drifting, and that's how drifting originated.

Saw Hard Candy. It has a very interesting plot - a 14 year old girl seduces a 32 year old photographer, who she met via the Internet and then ties him up in his own home and accuses him of being a pedophile. Great acting, but the flick as a whole is in the same time disturbing, annoying and at times a bit dumb. But damn, for all of its flaws, it's still a must watch.
