Kobe has missed time due to injury in recent years. He missed 16 games back in 2000, and 14 games in 2001. I'm sure most stars play through injuries whenever possible, but considering the nature of Vince's injuries the last couple of years, playing through them would be stupid, not brave.

Even when Vince was healthy he wasn't as good as Kobe. Kobe has a complete game. Kobe is a great defender, Vince sees defence as a waste of time that could be spent shooting. Vince will never be the player he was in his fist couple of seasons. He cannot play that style of game because of the injuries. He has changed his game to be more of a shooter than a slasher and although he has improved his outside shot it still isn't any better than Bryant's. Until Vince improves his defence and gets his confidence back he isn't at Kobe, Tmac or Pierce's level.

Whoooopedee doo....9 straight 40 point games....VC would be right up there in ppg with Kobe and TMac if he was healthy last year. You can't say anything about him if he doesn't play, and supposedly he'll be healthy this year, so watch out....

A streak of games and rings don't mean shit with individual player comparisons. My mentioning the trial was me making a point...that has as little to do with their game in direct comparison as how many rings each of them have does....but apparently that was missed, as was the fact that Kobe having 3 rings at age 24 (VC was a rookie when he was 23, Kobe was a rookie when he was 18...see the difference) does...please, use some fucking logic before posting.

39% from 3 versus 33% from 3 over their careers. Kobe's outside game is worse no matter how you put it. Kobe is a better slasher, but not a better outside player.
I haven't said Vince isn't better than Kobe, he isn't at this point, Vince and Kobe were at the same level before Vince's injuries. He's shown when he came back last year that he's improved after his injury, and with coach O'Neill I believe Vince can improve his defense as well. This season is one for Vince to prove where he stands, and as a Raptors fan, I strongly hope he returns to the elite.

I'm not listenin to jason duncan. VC would make a better pg than kidd.

Anyway, If vince was as good if not better than kobe he should have been a top prospect in highschool. Vince plays sad defense while kobe is one of the best. Vince is more of an energy guy when kobes a lets get it done and win guy. And since when can vince dunk better than kobe. Kobe is a much better ballhandler.

Spitfire, it seems that you should rename this thread vince vs Kobe.

I disagree there. Plenty of the great players have been unheralded or underrated at some point.

And since when can vince dunk better than kobe.

Not that dunking makes a player great (see Miner, Harold :wink:

), but before his injury (not that he can't dunk now, but he hasn't quite been half-man half-amazing the last two injury plagued years) Vince showed us some dunks that rivalled pretty much any other dunk you could think of. When it comes to dunking Kobe and Vince are both pretty good at wowing us, to say the least.

I consider Kobe to be the better player, but considering how good he is that need not be a knock on Vince.

You guys are using accomplisments to compare players....it's stupid....'he had the most threes, so he's a better outside shooter'....come on, look at the career percentages and you'll see who the better shooter is.

Compare other things....you know, like how they actually play....as opposed to records and rings...GP has no rings, does that mean that Tony Parker is better than him?

VC's taken an interest in D when he came back late in the season, he was above average on defense at that point in time. Not on Kobe's level, but better than he was. If he stays healthy next year, mark my words, watch out...

i'd have to say kobe's better than vc, because, well, vc...... uh, didnt play!!!! we can all guess and say what IF, but vc is injured and kobe is healthy and that is what IS. and, well, healthy players are usually just a tad better than injured ones dont you think?

as for the comment that said it is amazing that kobe scores 30 a game even with shaq on his team, well, i dont find that very amazing or even out of the ordinary. an above average team (which what the lakers are) usually scores 100 points per game. shaq does not score 70 points per game. therefore, somebody else is going to have to score, see?

jordan and pipper scored about the same or more points per game combined than shaq and kobe. to me, that is more spectacular, since they're both guards, and it used to be that you cant win with just guards. in fact, it still is. chicago was just the exception i guess.

kobe has a better jump shot because shaq creates space for everyone. vince would be basically zoned in on automatically, while defenders might be tentative to jump and double/triple kobe and leave shaq alone inside without help, because shaq is definetely the higher percentage shot.

i like to think tmac is a bit better than kobe, but then again he needs to control the ball, so i really dont know, and dont care. they're all good, so to each their own.
