Official NBA 2k7 Thread

Well there's been afew 2k7 threads around, so I thought this coudl become the main one.
Here's some new info on the game from Gamespot. It talks mostly about Next-gen, but I'm sure some of the stuff talked about will be in current-gen too.

Some cool points are the on the fly coaching menu, you'll be able to change defensive pressure, subs, plays, and maybe even player matchups. Also for next gen theres going to be a TON of animations. Over 200 passing animations alone, and something like 100- 150 dunk animations, and 36!! camera angles . It also talked about a TNT like half time show with Kenny Smith, and finaly a new updated menu presentation. Also some cool online features.

150 dunk animations! the only thing i dnt like about wat i see in these 2k7 screens are the players detail/faces. the faces look really bad

150 dunk animations my ass. It's probably just tiny variations on the one hander from different sides of the basket. Live, 2k..they all claim that kinda stuff yearly.

Yeah it could be just hand varients or taking off on the other foot. But even if it has 150 dunk animations, this isnt nba jam. although the videos for 2k7 are looking very nice

One of the biggest criticisms of 2K6 was that it didn't have enough dunks/variety of dunks, so 150 new dunk animations sounds good to me.

I saw nba 2k7 gameplay on ign lastnight that was really good. It was two quarters of gameplay and for a second i thought i was watching a real nba game. It has alot of little animations and stuff that really authenticated the game. The problems i saw vissually are that players sometimes move wayyy too quickly...most times between animations..and the models are all too muscular.

Well I'll take gameplay over graphics any time. I get annoyed when my friend praises Live 07, "omg look at how sweat iss dripping of J-kidd", I don't give a rats ass about that.... to me gameplay is the top concern and it'll decide which is the (first) game on my list.

i dont care if all player look the same.. as long as i can distinguish them by their style of play and stuff like that.. i could use some more dunk animations though

love how jason terry in one of the trailers did the leg up dribbles and pulled up for the jump shot and dwayne wade doing the pivots and fakes

by the way youtube has most or maybe all the nba 2k7 preview media if u want to avoid the ads or dont have the bandwidth

Finally a better create a player, it was pretty bad last year. And I also saw in some screen shots that you'll be able to change the shoe of every player to a real shoe, rather than having to make your own custom shoe thing, which I didn't reallly mind, but w/e. This game is looking pretty good, can't wait for it, hope it really is only 30 bucks.

The commentry is pure ass...but it looks like ill be buying this instead of nba live. That's a real bummer cause i was hoping EA would step their game up this year with the foot planting n' junk. I'll prolly just end up renting live.

jeez Live is actually looking better this year, but im pretty sure 2k will end up smashing them again in terms of gameplay. The graphics of 2k6 were twice as good as Live 06, but Live 07 looks better that 2k7 so far

Don't know if anyone posted this already, but here's some news about 2k7 from last week:

It's mostly based on new 24/7 mode, but I like some of the Association mode's new features, namely the more detailed stats, player cards, presentation and especially the 'progressive fatigue'. Let's hope it's introduced well.

That's where the other big addition to franchise mode plays out: progressive fatigue. Just as in the real league, the demands of an NBA schedule can take their toll on the players, especially the older guys. NBA 2K7's progressive fatigue feature will take that into account, though it's important to note that this feature doesn't necessarily model fatigue over the course of an entire season (as you might expect from its name) but rather in smaller chunks of time such as week to week.

Fatigue is going to play a much bigger role in NBA 2K7's franchise mode than in years past.

During particularly rough portions of a season--such as back-to-back games or three-game stretches in five days--you'll want to keep a close eye on your players' overall fatigue rating, which you can check out in your team roster. The higher their fatigue level is, the quicker their energy will deplete when game time rolls around. As you might expect, practice schedules and the age of your players will play a role here--if you've got an older team or a superstar you want to protect, you might want to schedule an off-day or lessen your star's minutes during the game. The more fatigued a player is, the more mistakes he'll make on the court--missed passes, bad shots, that sort of thing. That said, the challenge with the new fatigue model will be in balancing the health and production of your players with the need to keep their skills sharp in practice. It's an intriguing concept that we look forward to seeing more of in the game in the future.

So true. Ea beats 2k hands down in this category. There has to be conversation between Kevin Harlan and Kenny Smith and they have to be looser and be more natural when talking to make it better. One bright spot in commentary 2k has during halftime Kenny Smith's halftime report, can't remember what its called, its in the Bobcats vs. Raptors video I saw on Youtube. Glad 2k follows a tv-esque presentation, ea tries to incorporate these elements of it but then leaves some out for some strange reason, they should make up their mind if they want it or not rather than being half-hearted about it.

BTW is there any current gen screenies out yet for 2k7? apologies if a link has been posted and i missed it

I think its just called the 2K half time report or something like that

2K7 looks very promising and if I get a 360 I'm sure I will try it out.
If you haven't seen this yet it might be worth a look for you, its the clearest preview avaliable, maybe a bit old but you probably haven't seen it in this quality before
