Has anyone heard or got the new album from The Roots

most people seem to like it, but i think it's trash. Just don't think The Roots came out wit hthe good. People are high on Black Thoughts raps, but no matter how good you rap if the production is weak then so is the song IMO.

you know i have never ever heard this album

i lost interest in Lench Mob when the main rapper JD got sent prison

there first album Gurellas in the Mist is classic west coast joint tho

yo that album is great

its not the regular hiphop album, it has an irie vibe to it, sorta dark

the black thought does some good story telling on this lp

the production is decent, the music fits the lyrics really good

i heard that the bass player left the group and now is in the rock band Incubus

I'd have to disagree with almost every band on that list excluding Muse.

Just curious but did anyone catch Coheed & Cambria in Maplewood, MN this summer? They were touring with Avenged Sevenfold and Eighteen Visions, and I've heard most of the set.

They finished the show with a 16-minute version of "The Final Cut," which is probably the song of the decade so far, and features maybe the best guitar solo in the past 15 years.

And on that topic, does anyone know of other really good guitar solos from the past 5-10 years?

Well I've probably listened to 10,000+ songs from that period and I can't think of any better. And song of the decade isn't exactly saying much.

But that's also why I asked if anyone knew of any others that were better, because maybe I've missed something.

I could think of hundreds that I find better, but I'm not into Coheed & Cambria as much as you are. I think the only way someone would be able to recommend something that you'd prefer would be if they had the exact same music tastes. It is a pretty awesome guitar solo though.

Well I remember JD was still a part of Planet Of Da Apes, they broke up after that record. I agree with Guerillas In The Mist (Y)

Man, you should get all albums of South Central Cartel, especially "All Day Everyday", and be sure to check out "Murder Squad Nationwide" by Murder Squad (it has 2/5 stars, but that is pure Westcoast!).

From the song "All Day Everyday" by SCC:

"All day everyday, I don't give a fuck
Long as I got on my Khakis, T-Shirt and Chucks
Rollin through L.A., what do I see?
A gang of mo' niggas dressed just like me"

I'm not trying to be nitpicking, but he was talking specifically about the Dead Prez/Outlawz collab album and that other dude asked for new albums.

Not bad...just wish there was more tracks where they all appear on, just seems like a mixtape how the album is.

what do you guys think of 8Ball & MJG's first single "Ridin High". It's certainly up beat. I was expecting something different, more gangsta, kind of like "Don't Want Drama".

That new Talib track is fire, video is well done too.

Album's dropping early October from what I heard, then he's on tour with Mos after the album drops.
