The Stephen Colbert Bridge (or Hid)

Postby Silas on Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:23 am

Stephen Colbert has mentioned on his show, The Colbert Report several times about a bridge in Hungary that is having a naming contest, and Steven Colbert Bridge is one of the options and currently (at the time of the post) has over 400,000 votes, but more are needed to win the Contest.

Here is the link to Colbert Nation, where the lead story on the site will tell you all about to vote.

But, for you lazy ones, I'll tell you how to do it.

First, go to This Website.

Then, once you've loaded the site (it may take a try or two, but it is completely worth it), click ABC szerint.

This will put the list of bridge names in alphabetical order. Then you want to scroll down to "Stephen Colbert Hid" and click the circle next to it.

Finally, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the button titled "Elküld"

This is for a good cause everyone, you must vote now!"

Colbert is cool, Stewart is lame and not funny.

I disagree. Stewart is funny as well IMO, just more serious because he usually has more serious interviews. I think the guests on his show are also much more high profile in most cases, i.e. John McCain, Al Gore and John Kerry.

I just don't find him or his jokes funny. They're too obvious and not really very clever, unlike Colbert.

I really like them both (Jon and Steven) and try to catch them every night; though I don't care too much for this whole bridge campaign. Mostly because it's a serious landmark and shouldn't be treated in the same manor as a high school poll would. I mean what if they arranged a similar vote for a college or hospital (or WTC#2 for that matter) and winning entry ended up being the 'The Rick James Building, Bitch!'. I just don't like the whole idea..

Jae: I'm starting to feel the same. Although I'm actually starting to feel the same, if not more so, about the colbert report. Most of the material uses the same template, and the jokes are (just like the daily show) being used over and over. At least Jon isn't as limited to the same style as Steven is which is why I think it's held up much better over 10 years, than Colbert has done over 1.

Colbert is better than Stewart. Put it to bed and tuck it in, ya dingleberry.
