The Sophomores win as Dwight Howard wins Rookie Challenge MVP

Rookie Stats | Sophomore Stats

HOUSTON, Feb. 17 -- The Sophomores once again Defeat the Rookies 91-81 after a huge effort in the second half. Dwight Howard was the Rookie Challenge Most Valuable Player with 18 points (all in the second half) and 9 rebounds.

Ben Gordon put up a strong 23 points and Josh Smith had an all around game with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
Joey Graham had 20 points for the Rookies and Charlie Villanueava chipped in with 17 and 8.

The Rookies started the game well making a few early shots. The Sophomores came right back hitting the next few shots when the Rookies missed 7 consecutive shots. The teams were even at the break. The rookies came out firing in the second and once Dwight Howard got injured they took the lead. The Rookies were up by 3 at the half. Amazingly Dwight Howard had no points at the half and once he came back into the game, he dominated the post. Scoring 10 points in the 3rd and giving the Sophomores a commanding lead. The Sophomores took that into the last and in that quarter Dwight scored 8 points as the Sophomores won 91-81

It was all about the showdown between 2 teammates,
All PG's in the sophomores, that's tough
Shouldn't Gordon win Rookie Challenge MVP

Kirk Hinrich | Stephen Jackson | Damon Stoudamire | Cuttino Mobley | Baron Davis | Vladimir Radmanovic | Lebron James | Ben Gordon

Ben Gordon has been crowned the three point champion after a terrific effort. Shooting a record 30 in the first round and 26 in the second.

Kirk Hinrich had an excellent start to the 3pt Contest after hitting 5 in a row. But missing a few inbetween, cost Hinrich to be higher up than 20. Stephen Jackson just plainly missed everything and only ended up with 8 points. Damon Stoudamire Put up a good effort hitting 4 of 5 in his first rack to get off to a good start. Stoudamire failed to be consistent and he wasted all attempts on the money ball. he ended up with 19 points. The 4th Contestent was Cuttino Mobley, but straight from the start this wasnt Mobley's night. Missing most of his shots, Mobley only came up with 12 points. Baron Davis didnt have a bad time in the 3 Pt Contest getting 14 points, Making it in was a accomplishment for the veteran who is not a known 3 point shooter.Vladimir Radmanovic hit 14 straight balls into the bottom in the net to make his bid for the 3pt Contest Champion a whole lot better. Radmanovic ended up 24 points. Lebron James came into the 3Pt Contest also as an unknown 3 Pt shooter. He only hit 12 points. Ben Gordon was unstoppable. He didnt miss one shot in the whole first round.

Round One Scores

Vladimir Radmanovic didnt shoot as well as the First Round. He missed many shots including all the money balls. He ended up on 16.
Ben Gordon came out there firing. Missing 2 balls from the first 2 racks. Ben Gordon put away the rest of the racks and he became the 3 Point Contest Champion
