This one is inspired by Sit and Mikki's NT stories.

In the last days, before the start of the 2006 World Championship, FIBA declared that Bulgaria will have the chance to participate. Head coach Rosen Barchovski announced a roster of 14 players :

Head coach: Rosen Barchovski (CSKA)

Darin Velikov (Spartak Pleven)
Conditioning coach: Dimo Nikov

Definetely the best player on the team is Filip Videnov, who performed really good in the spanish playoffs for Real Madrid last season. The other famous names are Todor Stoykov who played in Pamesa Valencia and Jordan Bozov who spent the last season in Israel, with Hapoel Galyl-Elyon.
There are a few youngsters - the Ivanovi twins, the best talent in Bulgaria - Nikolay Varbanov, and Hristo Nikolov.

Opener : vs Espana

Great Videnov not enough for Bulgaria

Team Bulgaria suffered a hard loss in it's first championship game against one of the favorites in the world title race - Spain. The final score of the game was 95:71 in favor of La Furia Roja. There are some bad news for the bulgarian basketball fans - the team captain Todor Stoykov will be sidelined for one week, as he collapsed on the floor after a mid-air collision with Jorge Garbajosa. It became clear that Stoykov has siffered a knee torsion. In the next game Team Bulgaria is facing Nigeria.

Player Stats

Spain

Pau Gasol: 20 pts (10-14 FG), 9 reb, 3 stl, 3 blk
Jorge Garbajosa: 3 pts (1-3 FG), 5 reb, 3 ast
Carlos Jimenez: 20 pts (8-17 FG), 5 reb, 3 ast
Juan Carlos Navarro: 26 pts (10-22 FG), 4 ast, 2 stl
Jose Manuel Calderon: 22 pts (8-14 FG), 9 ast, 5 reb

Boyko Mladenov: 4 pts (2-4 FG), 7 reb, 1 ast
Hristo Nikolov: 8 pts (4-9 FG), 6 reb, 3 stl
Filip Videnov: 31 pts (10-21 FG), 4 reb, 3 ast
Todor Stoykov: 15 pts (5-10 FG), 5 reb, 2 ast

MVP of the game : Jose Manuel Calderon (Espana)

Buzzer beater win for Nigeria

Bulgarian National Team lost it's second game in a row, this time against Nigeria - 94:92. The Bulgarians controlled the game all the time, but after a strong last quarter for the Nigerian team, E.Ibekwe scored a basket with the buzzer and won the game for his side. It became clear that Todor Stoykov will not play against Bosna & Herzegovina too, but the team is finding a new leader in the face of Filip Videnov.

Nigeria
Oyedeji : 6 pts (3-5 FG), 9 rebs
Ibekwe : 16 pts (7-10 FG), 11 rebs
Udoka : 25 pts (11-19 FG), 3 rebs
Varem : 24 pts (12-19 FG), 5 ast
Badmus : 21 pts (9-27 FG), 6 ast

Bulgaria
Nikolay Varbanov : 20 pts (9-16 FG), 4 rebs, 3 ast, 7 blk
Boyko Mladenov : 4 pts (2-3 FG), 6 rebs
Hristo Nikolov : 14 pts (6-14 FG), 2 rebs , 4 stl, 3 blk
Filip Videnov : 40 pts (15-21 FG), 5 ast, 1 stl
Yordan Bozov : 12 pts (4-9 FG), 4 ast, 1 stl

Filip Videnov continues to impress the world basketball comunnity. The 195-cm tall former Western Kentucky Hilltoper is one of the best players on the World Championship, after the 2nd round games today. Filip is averaging 35.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.0 spg. He maybe made a mistake, signing a contract with Caja San Fernando befor the start of this championship, cuz after his performance, he could be in a much better team.

Next game : vs BIH

Balance : 0-2

its better if you should not start another Bulgarian season. A-sot has already one.

and yeah, A-sot, you should put some same size pics to add more color on the dynasty.

good luck with your team. win number 1 is just around the corner. :D

and i think other players should be involve in scoring. Filip cant win the game by itself.
