I've asked Mikki if I could borrow his idea and he said yes, so here it is. China's World Championship campaign and I hope it works out in real life like how I play it out!

Team: China
Minute Quarters: 8 min
Sim: 10 minutes
Rules: FIBA rules
Fouls: 5 foul out

Group Stage Review

Image Image ImageImage

Group A
1. Argentina -- (4-1) Argentina powered through the group stage with only one loss to Lebanon. The surprising loss came at the end of the group stage when Argentina rested its stars.
2. France -- (4-1) The young and inexperienced French payed homage to their Soccer stars by advancing to the next round on a string of strong performances. Tony Parker and Captain Boris Diaw led Les Bleus 4 wins and 1 OT loss to Argentina.
3. Serbia -- (3-2) The Serbians lacking the veteran presences of players such as Peja Stojakovic found it difficult in the group stage and will need to play a lot harder to do well in the next round.
4. Nigeria -- (2-3) Nigeria just made the next round with their win over Venezuela in the two team’s last group game. Not much hope for them in the next round as the team has publicly announced that they are happy to just be there.
5. Venezuela -- (1-4) Venezuela dropped out of the World Chapionships after a 82-74 loss to Nigeria in the final group game.
6. Lebanon -- (1-4) War-torn Lebanon was probably on most of the players’ minds as the team struggled to score over 60 points in all of their games.

Group B
1. Germany -- (5-0) Dirk Nowitzki dominated in group play and laid down the law with 35 points against Pau Gasol and Spain to lock up the top spot on the group ladder.
2. Spain -- (4-1) Pau Gasol and Spain did well, losing only once to Germany. They will be waiting to get even better in the next round. A real contender for a medal.
3. New Zealand -- (3-2) The Kiwis played strong against teams that were clearly worse than them but against powerhouses Spain and Germany, they didn’t stand a chance.
4. Japan -- (2-3) The host nation led by former NBA player Yuta Tabuse made the next round thanks to wins against Panama and Angola. They may bow out in the next round but they’ve had a great ride so far.
5. Panama -- (1-4) Little Panama had nothing against the big boys but they did beat Angola in a thrilling game that went down to the wire. The game against Japan was also exciting as the team fell 73-71.
6. Angola -- (0-5) The Africans once again failed to win a game but held their heads up high in the end; even in defeat and a crushing defeat it was at the hands of the Spaniards. That last game’s score line was 108-64.

Group C
1. Brazil -- (4-1) Losing only to Greece, the Brazilians entered into the next round easily. With their team of NBA players, led by Leandro Barbosa, the Brazilians will be a threat in the second round.
2. Lithuania -- (4-1) Lithuania struggled against Brazil and allowed the South American team to take control of Group C. They will need to play a lot harder on both ends of the floor in order to compete.
3. Greece -- (3-2) The Greeks did a modest job beating Turkey, Qatar and Australia but aren’t looking too good in the round of 16.
4. Australia -- (2-3) The Aussies fared just as well as their cross-Tasmin rivals New Zealand. However, their luck may have taken a sour turn after being drawn against Team USA for the next stage.
5. Turkey -- (1-4) The Turkish just couldn’t get their shooting going and Mehmet Okur couldn’t keep his team in it.
6. Qatar -- (0-5) No one could care less about Qatar.

Group D
1. USA -- (5-0) The Dream Team is back. Led by Carmelo Anthony and the US role players, America steamrolled past every team in the group stage. They will need to wait till the round of 8 for a real challenge in either Spain or Serbia.
2. Puerto Rico -- (4-1) Only losing to Team USA, Carlos Arroyo and his team are having a great tournament and playing significantly better basketball than before the tournament began. They only lost to USA by 30 points this time, better than their huge exhibition game loss last month.
3. China -- (2-3) China tried to avoid a high seeded team but wound up being seeded against the strong Lithuania. Their last game against Italy put Italy against Brazil in the next round. Either way for both teams, they will be facing tough opponents.
4. Italy -- (2-3) Italy misses Andrea Bargnani but they are doing well enough for now. Their tournament is probably over against Brazil though.
5. Senegal -- (1-4) A surprising win over China allowed Senegal room to breathe…
6. Slovenia -- (1-4) … before Slovenia crashed the party and denied the Senegalese a chance to advance.

Wang Zhizhi Rushed Back to China Side
C Wang Zhizhi Cleared to Play For China

By WILL SIT, AP Writer
August 25, 2006

Image

JAPAN (AP) -- Former NBA player Wang Zhizhi has been rushed back onto the Chinese National team. A CBA spokesperson stated, “We had Wang on the 12th and final roster spot. It is time for him to make use of it.”

The first ever Chinese player to play in the NBA has been injured for the last few weeks and will make his first appearance in China’s sudden death match against basketball powerhouse Lithuania.

As Houston Rockets star Yao Ming said, “We’ve already made the next round and our aim is to be in the top 10 so this game against Lithuania is an important game. For Wang to be back with us on the court will be very special.”

Wang Zhizhi was happy about returning to the national team after a 4 year hiatus from it after a dispute with team officials back in 2002. “I am happy to be back playing with Yao and the other guys. I hope we can prove a good test to Lithuania tomorrow night.”

Round of 16 Preview

Image

Argentina v Japan -- The host nation have made their best effort but even at their best, they are no match for Manu Ginobili and Argentina. Argentina should waltz into the quarters.

Lithuania v China -- Lithuania easily disposed of China in exhibition games and it shouldn’t be any different in this next game. China just isn’t read to compete and will need to wait till 2008 for the Olympics.

Germany v Nigeria -- Germany should also easily dispose of the Nigerians who have done pretty well to make the next round.

Puerto Rico v Greece -- Whichever of these two teams will face a very tough opponent in Germany. Puerto Rico should be able to get past Greece in this ecounter although it’s pretty even.

Brazil v Italy -- Brazil should be just too strong for Italy. Watch for Nene and Barbosa to finish the job early so that they can get some rest before the quarter finals.

France v New Zealand -- On paper, France is probably looking like having an easy game to win however as the Tall Blacks showed in Indianapolis in 2002, they aren’t pushovers and should challenge France.

USA v Australia -- The might of the US was tested in Athens when Australia actually led during the game. But this time, the US is a different team and is much better than it was in 2004. Andrew Bogut can’t stop his US counterparts alone.

Spain v Serbia -- The most intriguing match up of this round. If Serbia had all its stars in Darko Milicic, Peja Stojackovic and Vladamir Radmanovic, they actually would have won an easy game. However, without them, Pau Gasol and his team has the edge.

Yeh I have... but all of the players without CFs are purple headed... any clue what i should do?

Also, does anyone have the nbacam file for Live 2005... i need it... i hate the Live 06 press box... yeh, i had to reinstall and forgot to keep my nbacam file from the last installed game...

And i still cant fix the heads... was there an official Live patch to download...i cant remeber... or was that for 2005?

After thinknig bout it, the front end art doesnt work either... only things changed are... euro CFs, team flags, courts... im missing the players without special made CFs and also the loadup screen, etc...

there is no special startup screens or whatnot for the National Teams patch
to get the players without purple heads, go to the Euroleague website and download only the cyberfaces patch, then go to the national teams page and download the Euroleague Cyberfaces Activiation patch, that will replace the players with purple heads with their apporiate faces.

yeah.. the load up screen, didnt know there was one.

Round of Sixteen Tips Off
Japan Are Eliminated in an Easy Win for Argentina

By WILL SIT, AP Writer
August 27, 2006

JAPAN (AP) -- Host Nation Japan was eliminated by Argentina yesterday after a crushing 97-73 loss. SG Manu Ginobili led Argentina with 22 points and PF Luis Scola had 18 points and 12 rebounds. For Japan, PF Shunsuke Ito had 26 points while former NBA player Yuta Tabuse added 16 points and 4 assists.

The Argentines who are reining Olympic Champions got off to a great start scoring 14 points in a row in the first 7 minutes of the game. The scoring slowed down but Japan couldn’t get back into the game with the quarter ending with Japan trailing 23-11. The Japanese were hammered further in the second quarter, losing it 27-19. With Manu having scored 20 points, Argentina decided to rest their star in the second half.

Japan got off to an 8-0 run in the third period before Luis Scola helped slow down the home team. His defensive presence in the paint and sheer strength stopped the weaker and smaller Japanese team from making an impact on offence. Despite this, the Japanese put in a harder fight on both ends of the floor and played a much more even match against the Argentina bench.

Japan’s exit out of the World Championship comes at only the start of the knockout stage. Argentina will continue to play the winner of Lithuania-China.

it still doesn’t look like you installed the cyberfaces right…. In my game #14 for Japan and Scola all have proper faces.
However… sucks Japan got eliminated… that’s one Asian team down right there. However they were never THAT great, I am surprised they stayed even so close to Argentina.
Btw… I wonder if I should even watch tonight’s USA-China game… its gonna be so painful without Yao and Wang.

hey I have a question:

Where did you get the International Roster updated ?, because mine International Roster is old, I downloaded it from 4th quarter, they have Duncan, Iverson, Marion on the USA team, I just need the updated one. And also if you could send me a PM or just write it down here:

There is 24 International Teams, but for the Playoffs, you can choose 16. Did you pick teams randomly or what, and also can you tell me where I could find the FIBA rules and all that stuff to make it realistic ?

SABaller... i edited using dbf to put all the americans on the roster.. that screwqed over the patch cause something happened... i cant play against America... i can but i cant take screenshots... cause yeh.. all u see are pink faces... maybe if someone at dotorg can release a proper roster update that would be good... chances are, that may not happen... if it does, it will be after WC...

And SA Baller... i looked at the FIBA draw and came up with my own results... using the system they will use by letting the top 4 of each group through.. check out my article bout the group stage and u will understand...

And jing... i know wat i did wrong.. changing the rosters screwed the faces...

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS GUYS!!! MY CHINA GAME WILL BE UP TOMOZ PLUS THE REST OF THE FIRST ROUND RESULTS!

FIBA rules are everything NBA except for illegal defence is off... u can play zones with the C standing in the paint forever... in NBA thats a tehcnical i think... plus 5 fouls is foul out... the teams play 10 min quarters... and thats bout the only rule changes u have...

^^ we play those rules here in aussie... can i ask if those rules are played in HS in Amercia???

And yo Jing... im spewing cause if only we had bball on our tv.. the timing is perfect seeing japan is only 1 hr behind us.. and by the time u read this, it may be too late but... watch USA v China... im hoping Yao makes an appearance but i doubt so... but i think hes a definite in the stankovic cup... (Y) GO YAO!
